I groaned, stirring as my eyes opened. For a moment, I glanced around, registering my bed. I sat up, frowning when the spot beside me was cold. I gasped as I noticed the roses and petals scattered on the ground, in the middle of it was a small note. My stomach stirred as I got off, picking it up. -Meeting at 10. I’ll be back before you know it, Little bird- “I’m so late,” I sat up, raising an eyebrow as one of the maids — Alyra approached me. “I’m sorry, Ma’am,” she said, gesturing at the door. Some maids entered, holding a tray and a bouquet. “Sir said you stay in bed and rest, since you were ill and fell unconscious last night.” Oh. Did I faint after the kiss? My cheeks heated. What a way to go out. How could I face myself? “I can’t stay inside, Alyra. I’ve got work,”
