Seraphina Vale “That is my girl,” Aurora said as she led me into the hall where the Lunarveil masquerade ball was being held. She stared at me through the golden mask resting on her face. “You can't sit at home and keep sulking because of that bastard. He doesn't deserve your tears.” Aurora had been the one who carried me away from the company where I collapsed because she also worked there. An hour ago, I had woken up and the memories slammed into me. My eyes stung again, which Aurora noticed, and she forced me to come to the masquerade ball like I had planned to come with her and Ryker before. “Don’t think about that asshole. You should have fun tonight especially since it's our last night together,” she added with a smile. Aurora was relocating from the pack to England to chase her dreams of being a well-known researcher and it was possible she might never come back again. My chest sank at the realization that I was going to miss her like crazy. She was the only genuine friend I had managed to make. I wondered how I was going to survive without her, especially now that Ryker would be getting married to Bianca. “Alright. Thank you.” Finally, we walked into the ballroom. The music from the blaring speakers was almost deafening. The smell of bodies, cologne, alcohol and cigarettes wafted into my nostrils. Wolves dressed in ball dresses and suits sat at tables while many more were on the dance floor swaying energetically to the music. My lips curled at the fact that everyone was wearing masks. At least, one could have fun without judgement. We settled at a table and Aurora summoned a passing waitress with a tray of drinks. She handed me a shot of tequila. “Try this, Phina,” she urged before throwing down her own drink. She gasped as the liquid burned down her throat. I hesitated, staring at the amber liquid. I had never had alcohol in my entire life. “Go on. I got you.” I parted my lips and threw it down. The liquid burned down my throat. Not enough to burn out the pain there but enough to make me feel better. “How is it?” she asked. I nodded, gasping. “I like it.” “Good. Let's have more!” She summoned another waitress attending to the table nearby. And that was it. We had shot after shot of drinks… until the room tumbled in my eyes, everyone now appeared in twos and it felt like the Moon Goddess had joined the dancers on the stage. All of a sudden, I adjusted the golden mask crooked on my nose and stood. My legs almost buckled but I forced myself to stay steady. “I want to dance, Aurora.” I started staggering towards the stage even before she could respond. “Careful, Phina,” she called before trailing behind me. We found a spot on the stage packed with people and we began dancing with broad smiles on our faces. Coming here was a good thing after all. After a while, a guy with a silver mask came to speak with Aurora. She did not want to grant him an audience but then I urged her that I would be fine, so she blew me a kiss and left with him. Once she left, I was already tired and thirsty, so I walked away from the stage and made my way towards the counter to get more drinks or maybe a bottle of water. Just then my heels stepped on the hem of my dress and I stumbled forward. Fear coursed through me as I was about to hit the floor, but I felt a strong arm wrapping around me, followed by a scent of cedarwood and smoke that was so captivating and addictive that my nose twitched. A strong and suffocating aura pressed down on me and even Sabel, who had been quiet since the rejection, roared faintly then fell silent. When I stared up at the arms holding me so tightly that my breasts were pressing hard against his chest, my breathing seized at the pair of the most beautiful silver eyes I had ever seen beneath the shiny golden mask. My lips parted as I couldn't tear my eyes away from him. From his expensive suit and Rolex wristwatch, he looked like a man who made decrees. The attraction, the heat that coursed through my entire body just from his hand on my waist, the way I felt so seen, so safe… I couldn't even choke out an appreciation. “Are you okay, miss?” he asked. His voice was deep, authoritative and masculine but thick with genuine concern. It stroked places I never knew existed in my body. No one had ever cared to ask me if I was okay. Not even Ryker. He wanted to pull back, but I tightened my hand on his shoulder. “No, I'm okay.” I noticed his brows furrowing in confusion. “Okay?” I do not know what came over me. Maybe it was the alcohol, the heartbreak or maybe because he seemed to be the only one who had truly cared. I slid my fingers off his shoulder and trailed them down his hairy broad chest that was revealed by the first two unbuttoned buttons of his black shirt. “I want you…” I paused, questioning my choices for a brief moment until his fingers instinctively tightened around my waist and his chest heaved like he was also fighting the attraction between us. “To make love to me tonight,” I finally said. “What?” “Yes… please.” He paused, like he was contemplating. “Are you sure of this, miss? I think you're intoxicated.” The ache in my cunt was unbearable. “Yes. I'm sure. And no… I'm not intoxicated.” There was a long pause before he finally agreed. “Alright then… but you know after tonight, you can't pretend any of this never happened.” My brows furrowed in confusion at the possessiveness in his voice but then I did not think too much of it because after tonight, I would probably never see him again. One night. One mistake. “Of course,” I answered firmly. “Then let's leave.” With his hand still on my waist, he led me out of the ballroom into a sleek Rolls Royce parked in the l Lazily, I blinked my eyes open, adjusting myself to the rays of light filtering in through the blindfolds. My body ached so much. The skin between my thighs burned. My p***y felt like it was already bruised. My lips were swollen and the corners of my lips ached from the strain when I took his monstrous c**k in my mouth. The back of my throat ached so much that when I tried to swallow saliva, it felt like a stone instead. My n*****s felt like they were going to pop off with hickeys all over my t**s. Even my neck… I could feel pains all over and I needed no soothsayer to tell me that there would be hickeys all over too. Fuck… I pressed a hand to my throbbing forehead and sighed, completely exhausted. I was disoriented for a while, staring blankly at the sterile ceiling above me. What the hell happened? And that’s when the memories of last night hit me like a sledgehammer. The stranger from the ball. The man who f****d me like he was on a mission to ruin me completely. As if the moment I walked into the ballroom last night, he had already planned out everything he would do to me even before I approached him. How he would make me submit myself completely to him even though I was way older. And even now, my p***y was still pulsing from it all. Shamelessly desperate to be f****d over and over again. Instinctively, I pressed my thighs together in a futile attempt to stop the ache there. I think I must have passed out last night from it all because the last thing I remembered was when he commanded me to go on all fours and he began thrusting in and out of my p***y, hard and deep. My breasts shook violently with every thrust and even the bed slammed hard against the wall. I stared at the bed space beside me—cold and empty. He left. My chest twisted with pain… What was I expecting? To see him serving me breakfast in bed when I was the one who threw myself at him. I did not regret my actions but I wasn't so proud of myself either. Pushing my weak body up, I forced myself out of bed, threw on my sprawled clothes across the floor and just as I was about to turn away, my eyes caught sight of a cufflink with a black eagle crest on it. I picked it up, stared at it and it looked strangely familiar, but with my pounding head, I couldn't place where I'd seen it before. It must have belonged to the stranger. I wanted to drop it but then everything inside me screamed at me to take it since he left and the hotel staff would probably trash it. I threw it inside my bag and made my way out of the hotel room. I had no idea that this forgotten cufflink belonged to the one man who would change my destiny forever.
