Chapter 2 “Hello, little one.” The man in the top hat said. He crouched down to her level. “What is your name?” “Victoria.” She said softly. “I can’t find my mommy and daddy.” “They left her here on purpose.” Another man said. He stood behind her. “Well, little Victoria, you can come with us.” The man in the top hat said. He picked up her hands in his and kissed the back of her hand. He paused. “You smell very interesting. You must be an interesting little girl.” She pulled her hands away. “No!” She shouted and backed away. Both men looked at her. “No!” She screamed. Her hair floated in the air. The walls around her shook. “Victoria.” A voice called in the distance. The room began to distort and blur. “Victoria.” The voice called again. Vicky rolled over in bed. “Vicky,” a voice said softly. Vicky blinked and looked around. She was in her bed but did not remember how she got home. Her Aunt Rachel stood next to the bed holding a cup of tea in a dainty teacup with large rose blooms. Vicky rubbed her face. “Hey, sweetie. Did you have a good time? I didn’t hear you come home last night.” “Yeah,” Vicky said scratching her head. “I had fun.” Rachel handed Vicky the teacup. “Cute pj top. Is it new?” Vicky looked down at her shirt. It was the one Revyk was wearing last night. “Uh, yeah. I got it yesterday.” She took the tea from her aunt and brought the cup to her lips. “Don’t drink the tea.” A voice whispered in her ear. Vicky blinked a few times and put the cup on her nightstand. “I’m going to let that cool down for a bit.” “Sure, sweety. I’ve got to run to work. I’ll see you tonight. Have fun working on your paper.” Rachel smiled as she left. Vicky got out of bed and peeked around the corner. She saw her aunt walk downstairs; Vicky waited till she heard the front door open and shut. “Why can’t I drink the tea?” She whispers back. No answer. Vicky shook her head and picked up her teacup. “Don’t drink the tea!” “Why?!” She shouted back. Still no answer. “Oh, my god. I must be out of my mind.” Vicky took her tea into her bathroom and dumped it down the sink. She thought she heard a hiss as the liquid went through the drain. Vicky ignored it and got ready to take her shower so she could start her day at the library. Vicky got dressed and headed downstairs to their small kitchen. She opened the cupboards, but like usual, her aunt had forgotten to pick up the coffee Vicky put on the shopping list. She would stop by the coffee shop on her way to work. It was ten am, and the breakfast crowd would be gone. But some of the students with early morning classes would stop in for a caffeine pick-me-up. She breathed a sigh of relief when she saw the coffee shop was empty except for one person sitting in the corner with their head bent down. The usual barista wasn’t in. Instead, a tall thin young man with a sallow complexion greeted her. “Hey, Cheryl’s not in today?” She asked him. “No, ma’am. She wasn’t feeling well.” He said grinning at her.” “Uh, okay. I’d like a coffee with a shot of espresso, steamed milk, and a bagel.” “Sure thing.” He said. He blinked and smiled. His eyes turned black, and his teeth looked like sharp needles. “Um, you know what.” She said backing away from the counter. “I’m late; I’ll have to take a rain check.” She left the coffee shop and looked over her shoulder. She ran to work and occasionally looked over her shoulder. The demon didn’t follow her. Vicky got to the library, clocked in, and sat at the circulation desk. Taking a few deep breaths, she closed her eyes to try and calm herself. She opened her eyes and saw the bagel and coffee she ordered sitting in front of her. She leaned over the desk to see if anyone could have left the food and drink there. The library was empty except for a couple of students in the upstairs computer lab. She picked up the coffee and bagel and was about to throw them in the trash. “That’s a waste of a good coffee.” Vicky looked over her shoulder. Revyk stood three feet away from her behind the circulation desk. “You’re not real,” Vicky said. Her voice was barely a squeak. Revyk disappeared. “But I am very much real.” He said rematerializing behind her. She could feel his breath on her ear. “Shal we continue where we left off last night?” “This isn’t happening to me. I’m still dreaming.” She breathed heavily. Revyk kissed her neck. “You are wide awake.” He said between kisses. “And you want me to defile you in the Reference section.” “No!” She shouted. Vicky quickly looked around to make sure that no one heard her. “I want you, Reyvk. I want you to f**k me.” He said. “Do you remember saying that?” “You did something to me,” Vicky said. “Did I? Are you sure about that?” “You, you did something to me.” She was less sure of her statement. “You tasted my blood, Victoria.” He said. “And I tasted yours.” “What does that mean? Are we blood bound? Can you control me? Am I your slave?” “Nothing like that. We were momentarily sharing emotions.” He said holding her close to his body. “But I wouldn’t mind making you my slave.” He said, slipping his hand under her shirt. “Someone might see us.” Her voice was shaking. “No one will see us.” He said. “Drink the coffee.” “You drugged it,” Vicky said. “I brought you a coffee and bagel to be nice. I don’t have to drug you to get what I want.” “What do you want from me?” “I thought I was clear. I want to make you mine.” Revyk slipped his hand into the waistband of her pants. “I don’t belong to you.” She felt a warm tingle between her legs and her p***y was wet. “But you want me,” He said stroking her p***y. “You can’t lie to me. I can smell your desire.” Vicky was breathing hard. “Mmmm,” She groaned. “Not here,” She said. “You’re right,” He said. “Our first time together will be special.” Revyk let go of Vicky and stepped away from her. Vicky opened her eyes and glanced at the clock on the wall. Somehow it was after four, and time for her to go home. Revyk winked at her. Before she could ask what happened, her phone vibrated on the desk. Her Aunt Rachel was Facetiming her. “Aunt Rachel,” Vicky said. “Hello sweetie,” Rachael replied. She was holding the phone to her nose. “Aunt Rachel, you FaceTimed me again. I see your nose.” “Oh, sorry,” Rachel replied. She pulled the phone away from her face and was visible to her niece. “There you are.” Rachel smiled. “Sweetie, I called to tell you I’m going to be late tonight. Will you be okay on your own for dinner?” “Yeah, no problem. I’ll order some sushi or something. Did you want me to get you anything?” “No, I’ll pick up my dinner on my way home. Bye, sweetie.” “Bye, Aunt Rachel.” Rachel waved and hung up. Vicky swore that her aunt’s eyes turned black before she hung up. “You live with Aunt Rachel?” Revyk questioned. “I’m an orphan. She took me in when I was little.” “Did she,” he said. “How kind of her.” He grinned and disappeared. “What the f**k?” She said. Vicky picked up her things; the coffee Revyk brought was still hot. She punched out and walked home. Vicky unlocked the door to the home she shared with her aunt. She tossed her bag on the leather couch and plopped down next to it. Her phone was in her back pocket. She pulled it out, opened a delivery app, and started an order from her favorite place. The doorbell rang, and she put the phone down on the couch. She opened the door; Revyk was on the other side waiting for her with takeout from the restaurant she was about to order from. “You did say you wanted sushi?” He smiled walking into her home. “How did you find me?” Vicky frowned. “Do you have a demon tracking device on me?” “Victoria, how do you think you got home last night?” “Okay, that makes sense,” she said rubbing the palms of her hands on her pants. “Why are you here?” “To dine with you.” He smiled. Revyk put the food on the dining room table. “I didn’t think you would go anywhere with me willingly.” He pulled out a chair for her and sat down next to her. “Wine?” He asked producing a bottle of wine and glasses out of thin air. Vicky wrinkled her nose. “You don’t drink?” “I do.” She said. “But…” “You don’t trust me.” “No.” “My lovely Victoria. I want you to come to me willingly,” he said, “wanting me,” he picked up her hand and kissed the inside of her wrist, “begging me to f**k you.” A glass of wine appeared in her other hand. “Besides, I also came to speak to your lovely aunt, Rachel, is it?” “Yes,” she replied, “but why not wait till she comes home?” “Eat, Victoria. Let’s drink and talk.” He smiled. “I want to know more about the beautiful woman brave enough to attack a demon.” “What do you want to know?” she asked. “I’m assuming that flyer was left in the library for me to find.” “Yes. Tell me about those books and papers in your room.” “They’re for my dissertation,” she said. “I have to write my thesis paper.” “What is the subject matter?” He said with genuine interest. “Folklore,” she said, taking a sip of wine. Revyk smile. “What interested you in that topic?” “The dreams,” she said. Revyk tilted his head. He seemed surprised. “You didn’t cause the nightmares I had?” He shook his head no. “I, I had nightmares every night growing up. They were of you in the tent. You were trying to kidnap me.” “Victoria, I didn’t try to kidnap you that night. You were left there.” “I don’t understand,” she said, confused by his words. “Nevermind,” he said. “We can ask Auntie Rachel all about it.” He stood up and held out his hand. “Come, sit with me on the couch.” Vicky got up and followed him to the couch. Revyk wrapped an arm around her. He tilted her chin up. Vicky leaned into his body and kissed him. Revyk pulled her on top of him. His hands explored her body. A loud crack came from outside; the front door flew open.
