"Ebony meet Alessandro and Lorenzo, Alex and Enzo for short" Max said introducing Ebony to them.
The pair were oddly beautiful, Alessandro had blue smouldering eyes that could freeze you on the spot if you looked at them too deeply, as per usual his hair was unnaturally blond, the roots of his brown hair were beginning to show meaning it was dyed, but nevertheless he was a good looking guy; he was the same height as Max but with a slightly smaller build than him. Lorenzo was the complete opposite, his dark brown hair could possibly be mistaken for black, however his eyes were the ones that drew you in, hazel with specks of gold, his build was large and broad, this also meant that he towered over Ebony.
"So which one of you is which?" The one with the dark brown hair steps forward and introduced himself, "I'm Lorenzo but you can call me.. anytime", he offered his hand and instead of shaking it Ebony just high fives him.
I'm good thanks" Ebony said, trying her best not to come off as rude.
"And I'm guessing you're Alessandro" she said while looking up at him and smiling.
"Hey, you can call me Alex, Ebony is a really beautiful name, where does it originate from if you dont mind me asking?" Alex asked; before Ebony could even try to reply Max stood in front of Ebony and started pushing her lightly towards her car.
What is up with him? Ebony thought.
"So what's the plan, is she coming with us or what?" Alex asked Max.
"I mean I think it'll be fun for Ebony to come round, but it's up to her. Ebony what do you wanna do?" Max asked.
Ebony hated making decisions it was so hard for her to just pick one without trying to figure out every single possibility and outcome of said choices. Her first choice was that she could either go with the guys and just tag along or she could go home and binge watch Rick and Morty on her own, taking into consideration that her mum was working a double shift, the house would be freezing, she doesn't know these guys properly, so many possibilities.
"Do you want me to stay with you some more and let the boys take my car?" Max questions after he pulls her aside, "we don't know the way back home" Enzo said from behind them. Ebony looked between Max and the boys before making her final decision.
"I guess I'm coming with you guys then" she said while going to her side of the car, "I'll just follow from behind and you can lead the way".
She quickly got into her car and watched as they all piled into Max's car and started to drive. She didn't know how long the actual ride was going to be so she put her car playlist on and started to follow them; she wanted to get hyped so the only person she could listen to was her guilty pleasure, Shawn Mendes.
Please have mercy on me
Take it easy on my heart
Even though you don't mean to hurt me
You keep tearing me apart
Would you please have mercy, mercy on my heart
Would you please have mercy, mercy on my heart
I'm begging you for mercy, mercy
Begging you, begging you, please, baby
I'm begging you for mercy, mercy
Ooh, I'm begging you, I'm begging you
Her throat had begun to hurt from signing so loudly, anyone who passed by her car would definitely think she was crazy; as she was drying she began to notice that they had pulled into the posh area of town, it didn't come as a shock to her but seeing those big houses made her jaw drop. Pulling into a wrap around driveway, two large gates with the letter 'M' on them.
Parking her car next to his, she got out, leaving everything other than her phone, the house in front of the house was to die for, the wrap around driveway complimented the huge house amazingly. Suddenly, a woman walked out of the house, her long, dark hair cascaded down her back as she walked down the steps, although Ebony was far away she could still see the woman's vibrant green eyes, as the woman looked towards the boys, they filled with more joy than Ebony had ever seen.
"Um Max, you live here?" Ebony questioned, but before she could look towards him, he and the other boys had run off towards the woman.
"Boys, as much as I love you, please get off, I can't... breathe" the woman said, overdramatising the last word; watching all of them embrace her made Ebony thought about how nice it would have been to have had siblings or anyone that she could have been really close to, but she had never gotten the chance to experience it, maybe things could be different with Max.
Hearing Ebony walking up the stairs, Max turned around and walked over to her, holding her hand he brought her over to his mother; "Mom this is Ebony, the one I told you about" Max said, Ebony tensed up, he had talked about her to his mother, she wasn't sure what that meant but surely he couldn't have said anything bad about her... right? Her mind went back and forth between all of the things she had done or said to Max since she met him. Max's mother noticed her getting nervous and pulled her into a tight hug.
"It's so nice to meet you, you're even more beautiful than Maxi described you to be" Max's mother said while releasing her from the hug.
If Ebony could blush, she'd be as red as a tomato, Max's mother was intriguingly beautiful, to the point where it was intimidating, but she gave off a safe and caring vibe; Ebony knew deep down that she had nothing to worry about but her anxiety was stronger than that.
"Aw don't get all shy my love, we're not monsters" she said while leading Ebony inside the house, leaving the boys behind.
"My name is Marielle Morte by the way, I'm sure Max has introduced you to those two trouble makers" Marielle said while turning to look at the three boys who were walking and wrestling with one another.
"I'm making some hot chocolate, the cookies are still hot, I'm just waiting for them to cool, is that okay with you guys?" Marielle said, quickly going over to the stove, there was a mix of 'yeah' and 'sure' from the boys.
"Hey, um do you wanna go to the theatre room?" Max asked from behind Ebony, he was so close to Ebony that she could feel his breath on her neck.
"I'd love to but I don't want to offend your mother by just leaving" she said while turning to face him, his arms were on both sides of her as she was leaning on the counter, she started to feel intimidated under his gaze so she knelt down, crawled between his legs and came up behind him.
Enzo started to have a coughing fit, but Ebony soon realised he was lying, between coughs she could hear him saying "rejected" and looking at Max, Ebony looked at Enzo and shot him a glare, as he walked out of the kitchen.
"Is everything okay?" Marielle asked without turning round to look at them all, "YeAH" Ebony tried to say but was interrupted when Max came up behind her and started to tickle her, she was laughing so hard that she fell to the floor, with Max still tickling her.
"The hot chocolate's done... guys?" Marielle walked around the other side of the island, just to see both Max and Ebony splayed out, laughing on the floor, Marielle began to laugh with them while snapping some pictures.
"So do you two want the hot chocolate and cookies?" Marielle asked while she helped the both of them off of the floor.
"I would, thank you" Ebony says, as she's handed a warm cup.
"Lemme take you to the theatre room" Max said, gently taking her free hand and taking her into a long hallway. As they walked through the hallway, Ebony noticed that there wasn't any pictures of Max or any of them, just art pieces that looked like they cost a fortune.
After they got to the theatre room, Ebony thought not to ask about why there weren't any pictures but thought that it was too early to try and pry.
"Oh wait, we forgot the cookies, you pick a movie, preferably Disney, while I go and get them" Ebony said.
"Are you sure? I can just call one of the maids to go and get them for us" Max said as he got up and stood next to a phone near the door.
"A maid? We both have legs, we can easily go and get them ourselves" Ebony said while going through the door and making her way to the kitchen.
She tried to remember the route that they took, she successfully made it there after making a few wrong turns and going into some bathrooms and bedrooms. As she entered the kitchen she saw Marielle sitting on one of the bar stools.
"Oh hello Ebony, I didn't see you there" Marielle said while turning to look at Ebony.
"I'm sorry if I scared you, Miss Morte, can I just say that you have such a beautiful home" Ebony said truthfully, the house, was indeed, amazing, and so delicately designed.
"Thank you dear, I decorated it myself, and please call me Marielle... I'm sorry if this is out of the blue, but I just wanted to properly thank you for becoming friends with Max, he was so closed off when his father said that we were moving, he was barely talking to us... he was much more rude and violent... I can tell he isn't like that with you. So thank you" Marielle said as she stood up and hugged Ebony. Ebony was shocked that Marielle was blatantly open with how her son was changing, but she couldn't help but think that it was a breath of fresh air.
Ebony tried to speak but it was like she had forgotten every single word she'd ever learnt. "You don't have to say anything, just know that if you are ever in any kind of trouble, know that there is a home, here, for you".
Finally, Ebony had the ability to speak again, "thank you" Ebony said as she was handed the plate of cookies; Marielle turned around and walked out of the kitchen, after a few seconds Ebony did the same.
She then slowly made her way to the theatre room.
Should I ask Max about what happened before he moved? She thought to herself.
