"Our new home is up there?" I asked, wondering how we would manage such a climb in my weakened state.
Willow nodded. "A day's journey up the eastern face. There's a cabin—simple, but secure. Protected by old magic that the Elders cannot penetrate."
Then I howl broke the silence.
"Rougues!" Willow uttered, protecting me.
I gulped, looked down at my twins, now awakening and beginning to fuss. "What do we do?"
"We hide." She whispered, and within minutes she created a shield wrapping us all.
"What's this?"
"A veil, they can't scent us, nor feel us."
"And it's safe for them? For babies?" I asked.
"Safer than anywhere else right now," Willow said firmly. "Now rest they'll go away. And we'll continue at first light."
