Luna Margot’s sharp gaze pierced through me like a dagger. “Speak,” she demanded, her voice cold and unyielding. My heart raced as the sound of guards’ footsteps grew louder. Panic bubbled in my chest, threatening to spill over. Kyla shot me a desperate look, her face pale and her breathing uneven. I had to think fast. “I—I wasn’t feeling well,” I stammered, my voice shaky but loud enough to catch Margot’s attention. “Kyla was helping me get to the healer’s den to get some medicine.
