THE AWAKENING STORM

501 Words
Episode 9. The Watchers closed in, their steps soundless yet suffocating. Each movement was precise, calculated, as though the forest itself bent to their will. Luna’s breath came in shallow bursts, her fingers trembling as she clutched Elias’s arm. “Stay behind me,” Elias muttered, his voice low but fierce. The first Watcher lunged. Elias met him head-on, steel clashing against the unnatural strength of his blade. Sparks flew, and the forest echoed with the violent song of metal. Luna staggered back, her chest tight, her vision swimming. She wanted to help, but what could she do? She was just a girl with cursed tears and a destiny she didn’t understand. The Watcher leader raised his hand. A ripple of silver light shot toward her, sharp as a blade. “Luna!” Elias cried, but he was too far. Instinct took over. Luna threw up her hands, expecting to feel pain, expecting to bleed. But instead, a blinding silver shield erupted around her, the light bursting from her body like a storm breaking loose. The Watcher’s strike shattered against it, the shockwave flinging him back. The air went still. Even the forest seemed to hold its breath. Luna stared at her glowing hands, her heart racing. “I… I didn’t mean to” The leader’s eyes narrowed. “So the power awakens.” The Watchers surged forward all at once. Elias slashed through one, kicking another away, but there were too many. Luna felt her chest tighten again, the energy boiling beneath her skin. The world tilted, her tears burning as they fell. And then it happened. The forest erupted in light. Silver threads shot outward from Luna’s body, weaving through the trees like veins of fire. The Watchers screamed as the light touched them, their forms unraveling into mist and shadow before vanishing completely. Silence fell again, heavy and absolute. Luna collapsed to her knees, trembling, her body drained. Elias rushed to her side, his sword forgotten as he pulled her into his arms. “Luna! Are you hurt?” She shook her head weakly. “I don’t… I don’t know what I did. It just happened.” Elias held her tighter, his chest rising and falling fast. His voice cracked with a mix of relief and fear. “You destroyed them. All of them.” Luna looked at the ground where the Watchers had stood, only faint wisps of mist remained. Her tears dripped onto the earth, shimmering faintly before sinking into the soil. Her gift. Her curse. Elias cupped her face, forcing her to meet his gaze. “Listen to me, Luna. You’re not a curse. Whatever this power is,it’s part of you. And you’re still you. Do you hear me?” But in Luna’s mind, Kaelen’s words echoed like a haunting prophecy: “Her tears will shape all fates. Blood will drown or heal.” She didn’t answer. She couldn’t. Because deep inside, she was terrified. What if fate had already chosen which path her tears would take?
