THE HEALER'S TOUCH

527 Words
Episode 19: The dawn broke softly over the Moonlit Kingdom, painting the sky in hues of rose and gold. For the first time in weeks, Luna allowed herself to feel the warmth of the sun on her face. It was a fragile comfort, fleeting yet real, and she welcomed it like a balm upon her weary soul. She had been summoned to the healer’s hall, a place she had not visited since childhood. The corridors here smelled of herbs, sweet smoke, and clean linen. The air itself felt different gentler, calmer, as though the very walls wished to soothe rather than judge. Inside, Elder Mariel, the kingdom’s oldest healer, waited with quiet patience. Her hair was silver as moonlight, her eyes sharp but kind. “Child,” she said, her voice like a warm cloak, “you carry too much upon your shoulders. Sit.” Luna obeyed, settling onto a low cushion. The healer placed a bowl of glowing water before her. Within it floated petals of moonflowers, their silver edges shimmering faintly. “This water is drawn from the Sacred Lake,” Mariel explained. “It carries echoes of truth. Look into it, and it will reflect not your face, but your spirit.” Luna hesitated, then leaned forward. At first, she saw only ripples. Then, slowly, shapes emerged, her reflection fractured into two images. One version of herself shone with light, crowned in silver and wrapped in strength. The other was shadowed, her eyes burning crimson, chains winding around her wrists like serpents. Her breath caught. “I am both,” she whispered. “Yes,” Mariel said gently, resting a hand over hers. “You are both. But the balance is yours to hold. The prophecy speaks of curses and chains, but it also speaks of choices. Never forget that.” Tears pricked Luna’s eyes, unbidden but cleansing. She had fought so hard to escape the prophecy that she had forgotten the power within herself to bend it. Mariel’s voice softened further. “Do not mistake love for weakness. Love is what roots you, what steadies you when shadows rise. It is not your curse, child ,it is your compass.” The words settled in Luna’s heart like seeds finding soil. She closed her eyes, letting the truth take root. When she finally rose, her spirit felt lighter. She thanked Mariel with a bow deeper than any she had given a noble. “You have given me more than healing,” she said. “You’ve given me hope.” The healer smiled knowingly. “Then go, Luna. Carry that hope like a lantern. It will light the way, even when the night grows darkest.” As Luna stepped outside, the morning sun bathed her in warmth. Kael was waiting at the gate, his hand already extended as though he knew she would reach for it. She did. And in that simple touch in the clasp of his steady fingers around hers, she felt it. The healer was right. Love was not her downfall. It was her strength. For the first time, she walked forward with certainty, her steps aligned with the promise of her own heart.
