THE WARRIOR'S OATH

573 Words
Episode 15 The night after the vision at the council chamber, the palace did not rest. Lanterns burned along the stone walkways, guards marched with tense discipline, and whispers carried through the corridors like restless spirits. The prophecy was no longer just Luna’s burden,it was now a weight pressing upon the entire kingdom. Luna stood at the balcony of her chamber, her silver hair spilling down her shoulders as the wind tugged at her gown. The moon hung full and bright above, its glow spilling across the gardens. Yet even its light could not warm the chill in her chest. Behind her, Kael entered quietly, his footsteps soft but steady. He had removed his armor, yet he still carried the aura of a warrior who had sworn his life to something greater than himself. “You’ve been standing here for hours,” he said gently. “You’ll freeze before the night is over.” Luna turned, her eyes weary but defiant. “I can’t close my eyes, Kael. Every time I try, I see it,the fire, the blood, you… falling.” Her voice cracked at the memory of the vision. Kael crossed the chamber and took her trembling hands into his. “Visions are shadows of possibility, not certainty. Prophecies show us paths, but they don’t bind our feet. What binds us are the choices we make.” Her gaze softened, though her fear remained. “And what if my choice destroys you?” “Then let me make my vow now,” he said firmly, his voice resonating with unshakable strength. “No prophecy, no curse, no destiny will take me from your side. If I must stand between you and the darkness, then so be it. That is the oath I give, not as your protector, but as the man who loves you.” Her breath caught, her heart torn between hope and dread. “Kael…” He placed her hand against his chest, where his heartbeat pounded strong and steady. “This is real. This is not a vision. And it belongs to you, Luna. Even if the world ends, I will not let my love for you break.” Tears shimmered in her eyes, but this time they were not only of sorrow. A warmth spread through her, fragile but undeniable, the strength of his devotion anchoring her spirit. For the first time since her mother’s reflection warned her of love’s curse, she felt as though perhaps love could be more than a chain. Perhaps it could be the key her mother had spoken of. She leaned against him, her forehead resting against his chest. “Then let my oath be this,I will not surrender to fear. If fate dares to take you from me, it will have to fight me first.” Kael smiled faintly, pressing a kiss to her hair. “Then we are bound, Luna. Warrior and daughter of the moon, standing together.” The door creaked open, and a messenger entered, bowing low. “Your Highness, Commander Kael, the council requests your presence at dawn. The border villages report disturbances… shadows moving where no shadows should be.” Luna and Kael exchanged a look, their vow still fresh in their hearts. The darkness was stirring again, testing the strength of the kingdom and of their love. But tonight, beneath the endless moonlight, they stood stronger than before. No prophecy could unmake the oath that bound them now.
