*Evelyn* The next few days flew by. Slater and I sort of got into a routine. I didn’t see him much other than in the evenings. By the time I woke up, he was gone— I spent most of my day either following Mina around while she worked, or in the kitchen with Harriet. She had started trying to teach me to bake bread, although I didn’t have much interest in it. It did kill the time, though. Slater usually appeared sometime after dinner— usually I’d already showered and settled down in my room, and he’d come in and crawl into my bed with me and wrap his arms around me.
