Dylan’s POV:
“Another shot of Tequila?” I asked my regular, Stacy. She was post break up - again - and would often visit the bar when her relationship was on the rocks. Bartenders know everything about a small town, I swear.
“Please - I’m not completely forgetting why I came in just yet.” She smirked. I had to admit - she was a cute girl. Long flowy blonde hair, blue eyes, athletic, good rack. It was hard not to notice her cleavage protruding from her low cut V neck sweater.
I set the new shot in front of her and watched her throw it back like a champ and reward herself the with lime slice after. She hardly even made a face. My Charlotte could never stomach Tequila straight. Charlotte was more of a whiskey girl.
“If you want to distract yourself - you could come watch my band this Saturday with Charlotte.” I offered.
Her eyes lit up a little. “Really?! I’d love to. Perhaps I’ll find someone to distract me there, as opposed to tequila.” She chuckled.
I was happy to have some possible company for Charlotte. Four hours was a long drive by herself, I’d feel better if she wasn’t doing it alone. And the band needed all the support it could get performing away from home.
After finishing my shift at the bar, I headed home for the night. I was looking forward to two days from now when the band would be playing for a new crowd in a new place. And I hoped Charlotte would be happy for the show.
I really adored that girl. Things were always better with her around. She did seem slightly distanced from me lately though. Sometimes when I would talk to her it was like she was somewhere else. I’m not sure if she even realized it. I hope she wasn’t getting bored of me.
I sent her a quick text before drifting off to sleep. “Have a great night babe. Here is the address to Strums. I told Stacey she could ride with you, that way you aren’t alone. Love you”
Friday
I woke up for my early class, still no response from Char. Oh well. I did have a text from Stacey though - she was at least always an enthusiastic friend.
Stacey: Dylan! Won’t be at the bar tonight - things back on with Kenny. I will be at the Strum’s Saturday though - looking forward to it!
That girl - I swear. She would break up and get back together with Kenny every other week. Those two were bad for each other. No one can break up that many times and still have a solid relationship. Wild. Glad Char and I were going almost 3 years solid. No drama there.
Would have been nice if she had answered my text from last night though. I’ve got classes all day today. I won’t have much time to talk to her.
