Some sort of light

“His what” was what came out of both my broth and I’s mouth. We were surprised by the word and a little confused too. Aunt Mel took a deep breath, sighed, and said, “ make yourselves comfortable cause it is going to be a long afternoon.” I was in for another shock when she faced us with her eyes glowing icy blue. I almost jumped out of sit because all my life leaving aunt Mel I never, ever saw her eyes color other than the honey brown they used to be. Seeing them other colors let alone glowing what something more than new. I was like looking at a different person or version of herself. My aunt Melianna or Mel as we loved to call her has been living and taking of us since we were kids. She was more of a mother to us than an aunt. She loved and cared for us as a mother should. And she would do whatever ever it took to protect us from harm's way and secure our happiness. Her unconditional and selfless love was the key to our childhood. We were 10 years old when death took our mother away from us and for our father, I did not think I saw him even once in our life. I guessed he left before we were born or we were too young to have any recollection of him. I was aunt Mel who was left to pick up the pieces and made our lives whole again. She came and gave it meaning. She gave us a family and a mother’s love when we needed it. She put her life on pause to resume ours even when she didn't have to because she wasn't related to us by blood. Nevertheless, seeing her glowing eyes were showing and if I was already seated, I would have given Rohan that third fright. After what felt like a minute or two, Aunt Mel closed her eyes and they turned to normal when she opened them. I had to say it was a relief to see those honey-brown ones but confused with sudden change. “Aunt Mel, what which the eyes tricked? Why they glowed and changed colors like the wolves?” I was going to ask the same question but Cairo beat me to it. “She is a werewolf that is why. A higher rank I might add. But why did I not smell you when I walked in until now.” said Rohan. She looked at us “ Rohan is both right. I'm a werewolf but that is only a part of me.” “ I was born from a beta werewolf father and a witch mother. My mother was your grandmother's adviser and my father was the beta of the midnight pack then called Fawkes. Bothe your mother and I were born in a castle, the Stone Hill castle. We grew up side by side like the best of friends and eventually became like sisters. Which I might say was bothering the noble families and the children who once lived there too.” “ Your grandmother was the Queen which made your mother the crown Princess. The nobles praised her for her beauty, her style, her title but didn't like her kindness toward the middle class or lower. They thought it was unsuitable for the princess to interact with the main or even the advisor child. They implied that we were beneath and that was our place. We should not be allowed to be close to the princess because it would affect her image.” “ However Queen Kaira could care less about their complaint because she saw everyone as the same. They were all under her protection and care. Princess Jaya always did as she pleased. She did not like nor hate the noble children but she could not be around them as she loved to call them pretentious and pampered dolls.” I had a heartfelt laugh with that comment since both Cairo and I call aristocratic people the same way. “Jaya treated like I was part of the family and never let anyone messed with me. If someone tried to bully me to will get a taste of their own medicine with a little spice.” “When we both turn 16, we met a noble kid who was like us and didn't care about stupid appearance. Her name was Eloise.” she continued. All sudden, I felt Rohan tense by side. I frowned and said “ what is wrong? Do you know that Eloise person?” I asked not for simple curiosity. For some unknown reason, part of me was hurt not in a sympathetic way but a jealous way by his reaction. I didn't know why but that was what I felt. Aunt Mel muttered, “ Eloise was his mother. And one of my sisters or best friends.” Having that bit of information my jealousy now was replaced by sympathy. Seeing Rohan's face, I presented they were close and that her absence still hurt him. I found myself roaming my hand up and down in his back in a relaxing way and it felt so good touching him again. He smiled at me and muttered thank you. I smiled and removed my hand but he took it and put it on his leg now. “You knew my mother? What about my father. Did you know him too?” asked Rohan. Aunt Mel nodded “yes I knew your father too. We were the best of friends. We were so close that people started to think we were family not friends.” “Aunt Mel, you said my mother was a princess and you were her friends but that didn't explain my supernatural gene,” I asked. “Well sweetheart, your mother was the first hybrid ever born.” “She had both her parent's genes,” she added. “Were our grandparents a werewolf and a vampire” questioned Cairo. “No deary, they were something ancient. Something old that most people have forgotten.” she said. I looked at her trying to figure out what she meant by that and trying to remember any old species that I have learned about. The only ones that came were Lycan which had extinct a long time ago and demons and angels which both were only myths I thought. Clearing her throat and muttered two species. One of them I thought she would have never said. “Lycan and dark elf.” “Your grandmother was the Lycan. A princess of her race I might add. And your grandfather was a dark elf. A powerful warrior of his race.” “They met by accident and realize they were fated with scared them both at the time. Because beside vampires, dark elves or dark Fey as they loved been called were lycan enemies.” “Lycan problem with dark Fey was trust. Lycan could not trust them because they were always sneaky and had been misjudged by others. Fey couldn't trust lycan because they lack trust that something was never always what it appeared to be.” she continued. “ But all that changed with your grandparents because they fought for their love and believed that they could make a big change and united their races which they did with time” “But your mother was born with her lycan gene strong than the Fey one with my ancestors believed would die as she grew up. However, the moon goddess had another plan for her. When Jaya was only six years old she was visited by the moon goddess and she gave a new soul to balance the other two and another purpose? I frowned and asked, “a new soul. Can she do that? What was that new soul? What was the other purpose?” “Yes, she can sweetheart and she did. The other purpose was a mission she would give on her sixteen birthday and the new soul was an angel one which turned your mother into a first-ever tribrid and the only one who ever been touched by the moon goddess herself,” she answered. “An angel soul. A f*****g angel. I thought they were only myth aunty.”Said Cairo. The whole time Rohan just sat silently, listened, and took everything in. I glanced at him from time to time to see his reaction but all I got was nothing just someone interested in the story. “Yes Cairo and watch your language, please. I did not raise you like that. It seems like Jaira here has the angel side of her mother which meant Cairo you will probably have the lycan or the Fey.” “Wait, can we both have the same thing? You know like we have all mom’s souls? By the way, why Jaya's soul only appears now?” said Cairo. To think of it yeah, why now? We had been over 300 years old why waited that long to manifest. That question has been lingering in my mind for a while now. “It is all because of the spell that I put on you guys since you were only 10 years. Before you both go berserker on me, I did on both your father and mother's request.” “Jaya spell is weakening because of Rohan here. Meeting a mate does that.” “Weakening. It is not broken. Why is it not? What is stopping it?” I asked. She looked at Rohan and he nodded like giving her permission to say whatever she was going to say. She took a deep breath and said “ Rohan is not your only mate. Rohan Twin is your other mate until you meet him, the spell won't be completely broken. And the same goes for you Cairo, you need to fight yours.” I stood up ready to leave when Rohan said “where are you going?” “I need a little of air” I retorted “Why are you okay” “ I don't know. Am I? Not only today, I fight out that I am a supernatural being, that I have not only a mate but two of them. That is just great. The rest of the story will have to wait.” I was halfway through the door when I asked the question I should not have asked “ aunt Mel who is my father? And what of him?” “Sweetheart for that you need to sit down cause it may hit you hard.” “Tell me. I perfectly fight standing up just answer me, please.” With an apology look on her face, she said, “Marlakay also known as......” Hearing the name Marlakay, my knees gave out and the next thing I heard was Rohan and Aunt Mel screaming my name and dark spots clouded my vision.
