At the moment the door outside closed, Sean yanked Lily away, the muzzle of the g*n dead against her chest, his breath undulating, mute and low. "Get dressed. Now. Leave."
Lily's furious. How dare he? That ungrateful bastard forced her into this, then discarded her like trash without so much as a "thanks". Did he really think she'd just take it lying down?
"I saved your life!" Lily shouted.
"How much do you want? Name your price! But if you breathe a word about today, I swear I'll make you wish you were dead." Sean tugged down the collar in annoyance. His body's strength seemed to have recovered a bit, his mind was filled with the appearance of Lily's red lips panting just now, and a never-before-seen feeling of dryness made his face sink to a frightening level.
Lily organized her clothes and surveyed Sean, seeming to be considering the reward.
Sean impatiently turned his head. The next moment, he felt a pain in his neck. He incredulously looked at Lily, before he passed out. Only Lily slowly hooked up the corner of his teasing lips.
Half an hour later, Lily appeared outside the hotel, in a cloth coat carrying a cloth bag, long hair tied into a twisted braid, her face dotted with a face of freckles, pestled in the doorway like a newcomer to the bustle of the bumpkin, anxiously looking around.
Not far from the black Mercedes-Benz car, Chloe's face, with a gloomy look on his face, did not say all the joy of mother-daughter reunion excitement, but instead all the disgust and dislike. "That's Lily? She's a mess. I go to pick her up, and she can't even bother to dress properly. It's embarrassing."
Jane held her arm and said, "Mom, now that Lily's back, I'm still your daughter, right?"
Chloe looked at Jane's delicate features and beamed with a thousand times more warmth. "Don't be silly. You're the one I raised. You're my daughter. If it weren't for that cripple from the Lewis family forcing the Moore's hand in marriage, I'd have paid Lily off to save face!"
"John, go get her. We’ll drive back ourselves." Chloe instructed the driver to get out of the car and not to look at Lily again. The corner of Jane's mouth rose with an imperceptible cold smile. She took the initiative to sit in John's place to act as a driver. Her good and obedient appearance made Chloe even more disgusted with Lily.
When Lily was taken into the cab by John, a black Cayenne stopped at breakneck speed, and two men in black quickly rushed into the hotel.
Sean, who was only wearing a pair of black boxer briefs, turned blue, and the two black-clad bodyguards stood with their hands hanging down, not daring to utter a single breath.
This damned woman, how dare she strip him n***d and snatch an exquisitely carved cross that he was carrying with him.
"Find her! Turn the place upside down if you have to!" Sean commented by gnashing his teeth in anger.
The black-clothed bodyguards immediately responded. One of them apprehensively said, "Master, the Moore family has agreed to hold a wedding reception!"
Sean’s eyes narrowed slightly, a resigned sigh in his heart. His grandfather decided things that he could not resist in front of him, and could only think of ways to scare the woman away. If the Moore family's daughter was not tactful, then do not blame him for being ruthless!
At this time, the Moore family had another scene.
Inside the opulent villa, laughter and merriment filled the living room. The door had been shut for hours, and Lily’s presence seemed almost superfluous.
Obviously, her identity as the true daughter of the Moore family did not bring any respect.
When Lily first laid eyes on Chloe, the turmoil within her stilled. The open disdain in Chloe’s eyes was like a slap, choking off any emotion Lily might have expressed.
She took a deep breath, lifted her step and walked in. The newly changed clean shoes just landed on the carpet. Chloe said, as if she had touched something, "Take this girl to the maid’s quarters. Get her cleaned up before she comes back in."
The maid immediately went forward, but Lily did not move. Her voice seemed to still have some trembling. "I took a bath in the hotel. I'm not dirty."
Lily's suppressed emotion in Chloe's eyes was constrained and timid, and Chloe then looked at Lily in this outfit and that face, only feeling more and more bored. "Something that belongs in the shadows will only bring shame."
Jane proudly glanced at Lily, and chirped, "Mom, Lily’s back. At least the Moore family can give the Lewis family a face-saving explanation. You should be relieved."
Chloe's face was still ugly, her cold and disgusted gaze looked at Lily, and she said in a cold voice, "The Lewis family will be here tonight to collect you. Do as you’re told, and don’t you dare defy Mr. Lewis. Cross him, and I’ll make you regret it."
Lily's heart ached, slowly looking up at her mother, her tone cold. "If I’m such an embarrassment, why did you bother bringing me back? The Moore family still has a daughter. Why not marry her off to the Lewis family instead?"
"Jane is the daughter I’ve carefully raised. How could she marry a cripple?" Chloe was oblivious to the fact that there was something wrong with this word.
Lily snorted. "So, a throwaway like me is good enough to be a substitute?"
Chloe snapped at the table. "Lily, it’s a privilege to marry into the Lewis family. Even if I didn’t raise you, I gave birth to you. This is your chance to show gratitude, not to throw it in my face."
Jane petulantly held Chloe's arm. "Mom, don’t be angry with Lily. After tonight, she’ll be part of the Lewis family. I’ll always be here for you."
"Looks like Jane’s the one who’s got my back," Chloe said.
Lily’s gaze was cold as she watched the display of maternal affection. Her bright eyes were cold. "What, exactly, does Mrs. Moore mean? That my marriage is repayment enough for the gift of life?"
Lily's gaze made Chloe uncomfortable.
Jane was worried that Chloe was kindhearted, and immediately yelled, "Lily, how can you talk to mom like this? It's too disrespectful, isn't it?"
"And you," Lily shot back, "have no right to call me sister."
"That’s enough!" Chloe angrily shouted, "Who do you think you are, talking to Jane like that? Apologize, now, on your knees!"
