Chapter 3 An Ugly Chick

1077 Words
Lily's eyes were cold and chilly. "You refuse to acknowledge me as your daughter, yet you expect me to call you mother? What gives a complete stranger the right to order me around? If any of you dare utter something I don’t want to hear, I’m out of here. Marry whoever you like, I couldn’t care less." With that, she turned on her heel and marched upstairs, brazenly invading Jane’s room and collapsing onto the bed with a self-satisfied grin. From time to time in the living room came Chloe's loud curses and Jane's soothing sounds, but no one dared to come up and shoo Lily away. Lily stared blankly at the ceiling. She felt sour and uncomfortable in her mind. The tears in the corners of her eyes finally did not hold back and fell. She had known about the marriage arrangement before she came, knew the man was disabled, and she had agreed to it. Partly to meet her biological parents and lay her ghosts to rest, and partly out of gratitude to Rose, the woman who had raised her against all odds. She had underestimated Rose, never dreaming she was Sean’s mother. Although she did not want to mention the Lewis family, Lily knew that she was very nostalgic about her son. Lily's main goal in marrying was to cure him, as a way to repay Rose for her nurturing. Once he recovered, she planned to bring a healthy Sean to Rose, to reunite them at last. Thoughts lingered, noisy sounds came from downstairs, and the Lewis family came. Lily got into the car under the murderous gazes of Chloe and Jane, not even turning her head back. Chloe was furious in her heart, but she was also vaguely born with a bit of indescribable bitterness, but it quickly dissipated without a trace. Along the way, someone told Lily about the rules of the Lewis family. She listened absentmindedly. The car was parked directly at the small backyard door; someone led her in. Just stepping into the backyard, the mournful screams accompanied by the hissing of the dog sounded at first. Listening to creepy people, Lily only felt a chill rising from her back, a layer of fine goose bumps on her arm. "I’m sorry, please, just let me go! No, don’t come near!" The path opened up, and Lily’s eyes were drawn to a blood-splattered figure barreling towards her. Close on his heels, a massive Tibetan mastiff, baying and snarling, gave chase. Lily stood rooted to the spot, casting a bewildered glance at her guide, whose body trembled with fear. Clearly, the dog’s attacks were not an uncommon spectacle. Could it be that Mr. Lewis is really as brutal and perverted as rumored? Lily's heart trembled slightly. Suddenly, she heard a whistle. The Tibetan mastiff seemed to snap, its eyes alight with a feral gleam as it launched itself at the fleeing man, its jaws clamping down on his arm with a sickening crunch. Blood sprayed, and amid the man’s gut-wrenching screams, the dog tore away a chunk of flesh, gnawing with relish. Splattered bone crumbs and broken meat blood sprayed onto Lily's feet, The tissue clinging to the meat seemed to pulsate, as if still alive. "Stop! He'll die!" Lily's face turned pale, and she subconsciously wanted to rush over to save the man, but she was stopped by the people beside her. "Mr. Lewis doesn’t like being disturbed when he’s… disciplining someone." came the warning. "I’d advise you not to interfere." Lily looked towards a long blood scar that was dragged out by the Tibetan mastiff. That person had fainted in pain; feces and urine all over the ground mixed with blood. The scene was exceptionally tragic. At the end of the blood scar, standing a few black-clothed bodyguards, the man in the center, sitting in a wheelchair, is leisurely sipping tea, as if everything in front of him is commonplace. Lily held back her nausea, her face as pale as paper, but she was slightly stunned after seeing the man's face. "How could it be him? Aren't his legs fine?" Doubt overpowered the nausea, as Lily sized up Sean. It so happened that a pair of the man's dark and heavy eyes also landed on her body, carrying a brutal aura of depression. Lily trembled, having the illusion of being stared at like prey, and her face grew paler and paler. The sound of gnawing bones filled the air. Lily’s legs turned to jelly, and she clutched at the air for support, but her delicate, thin frame continued to sway, as fragile as a leaf caught in a storm. Sean's mood was extremely happy, his thin lips curling up into an evil smirk. He beckoned to Lily, his voice of low compulsion. "Come here!" Lily hesitated, her eyes flickering to the Tibetan mastiff that was still tearing into its victim. She couldn’t fathom what Sean was thinking, but she felt compelled to obey, inching her way forward tentatively. She was just standing a little away. Sean did not look carefully. Now, his gaze lingered on her, taking in her flawed yet striking appearance, the freckles that stood out more against her pale skin. Beyond these superficial imperfections, her features held a certain charm, especially her eyes, which struck a chord of familiarity within Sean. He felt a faint stirring of emotion, a momentary lapse into contemplation. Lily didn't care about Sean's sizing up. The purpose of coming to the Lewis family allowed the fear to gradually dissipate; her gaze curiously landed on his legs, suddenly reaching out to try to touch the man's knees. This action of hers made the bodyguards suck in a breath of cold air. Sean's body around the murderous aura erupted. Before Lily could react, she was pulled by a strong force. She was directly planted forward, and the next moment her neck was strangled. The inexplicably familiar action made her roll her eyes in her heart. 'Why does this i***t always have to choke people?' she thought irritably. "You want to die?" Sean’s dark eyes narrowed. His warm breath was close, the subtle scent of his cologne enveloping her senses. Lily was a little uncomfortable and wanted to struggle, but she was pinched heavier. Sean's gaze indulgently surveyed her, his voice dripping with dark charm. "Two hundred million down the drain, and this is what the Moore family sends me? An ugly chick like you?"
