Chapter 10

760 Words
Her mother’s voice carried up the stairs, bright and ordinary. “I’m home! Who wants to help with bags?” Dominic was already moving. He stepped into the hallway just as Aria’s door clicked shut behind him. By the time her mother reached the top of the stairs he looked calm, composed, like he had simply been walking past. “I’ll get them,” he said. Aria stayed in her room, back against the door, trying to steady her breathing. She could still feel him inside her. The soft ache between her legs. The way he had said this is more than s*x. She pressed a hand over her mouth and closed her eyes until the shaking stopped. Downstairs, ordinary life resumed. Bags were unpacked. Her mother talked about traffic and a sale on the wine Dominic liked. Aria eventually came down and helped put groceries away, hyper-aware of every time Dominic moved past her. Once, while her mother was bent over the refrigerator, his hand brushed the small of Aria’s back, fingers spreading just long enough to feel possessive. She kept her face neutral and continued folding the reusable bags. Evening settled over the house. They ate together at the kitchen island. Her mother was in a good mood, planning a small dinner party for the weekend with a few work friends. Dominic listened and nodded at the right moments. Under the table his foot found Aria’s and stayed pressed against it the entire meal. She barely managed to swallow. After dinner her mother stretched and yawned. “I’m going to take a bath and answer a few emails in bed. You two relax. You’ve both been quiet today.” The second her footsteps faded upstairs, the air in the kitchen changed. Dominic set his glass down and looked at Aria across the island. The look was dark, focused, almost hungry. “Come here.” She walked around the counter. He turned her so her back faced the living room, then stepped in close, one hand bracing on the counter beside her hip. To anyone coming downstairs it would look like they were simply talking. Only Aria could feel the hard press of him against her ass and the way his other hand slipped under the front of her shorts. His fingers found her still wet and sensitive. He stroked slowly, deliberately, while his mouth brushed her ear. “You’re still full of me,” he murmured. “I can feel it.” Aria’s breath hitched. She gripped the edge of the counter. “She’s right upstairs,” she whispered. “I know.” His fingers pushed deeper, curling. “That’s why you’re going to stay quiet and let me play with this p***y I already claimed.” He worked her in slow, precise circles, thumb on her c**t, two fingers sliding in and out. Aria’s knees weakened. She dropped her head forward and bit the inside of her cheek to stay silent. The soft wet sound of his fingers moving inside her felt obscenely loud in the quiet kitchen. “Good girl,” he breathed. “Just like that. Let me feel you come again while she’s only a floor away.” The combination of his voice, the risk, and the steady pressure tipped her over. She came hard and silent, thighs shaking, forehead pressed to his shoulder. He held her through it, fingers still moving until the last tremor faded. Only then did he pull his hand free. He lifted his glistening fingers and, without breaking eye contact, slid them into his mouth and tasted her. Aria’s stomach flipped. Dominic’s eyes stayed locked on hers as he lowered his hand. “Tonight,” he said quietly. “My room. I don’t care how late. I need to be inside you again.” Before she could answer, the sound of the bathtub draining upstairs reached them. Dominic stepped back smoothly, picked up his glass, and leaned against the opposite counter like they had only been discussing the weather. Aria stayed where she was, legs still unsteady, the ghost of his fingers still inside her. Her mother’s voice floated down a moment later, cheerful and completely unaware. “Dominic, can you bring me a glass of that wine when you come up?” “Of course,” he called back. He looked at Aria one more time. The promise in his eyes was unmistakable. Then he poured the wine and walked upstairs, leaving her alone in the kitchen with her heart racing and the secret burning hotter than ever.
