“She needed help,” he says, as if that explains everything. “Jonah must have known the truth about her,” I say. “That’s why he wanted to keep her away from the school. He worried if she came here someone would find out what she truly was.” “Yeah, he said it was for her safety,” Marcus adds. “Now we know why. But how do they know each other?” “That’s what we need to find out, but she’s playing innocent. I’ll get it out of her in time though.” “Jonah obviously wants her to be safe,” Marcus says. “That means we should keep her here and protect her.” “I disagree,” Callan says. “Jonah made us promise to get her away from the school. That promise still stands, even more so now that we understand the danger she’s in.” Marcus points in the direction of the bar. “She’s in danger out there too
