I tried to block out the thoughts of my conversation with Tyler from last night by tapping my fingers against the edge of the desk. I felt as though he was still there, his dark eyes beckoning answers I wasn't prepared to offer, and the silence in his office was too oppressive. I forced the memories back with a shake of my head and went back to sorting through the data Tyler had left me. I needed distance, away from his questioning gaze and my own unsettling thoughts, yet it was too early for me to be here.
