While I was walking back to the house, a variety of thoughts whirled around in my head like leaves that had been caught in a hurricane. Everything came together in a tangled mess that I was unable to make sense of, including the file, Tyler's grandfather, and the possibility that my life would take a turn for the worst. Despite the fact that the sky was getting darker and the air was thick with humidity, I hardly realized that the sky was getting darker. My thoughts were elsewhere, and I was preoccupied with the insurmountable choices that I needed to make. When I finally arrived at the front door, my fingers were shaking as I carefully turned the knob into the open position. With the exception of the faint clattering of dishes emanating from the kitchen, the home was quite peaceful
