Steam clouded the mirror as I rinsed shampoo from my hair, the hot water almost scalding against my skin, but I welcomed the sting. Despite the fact that my thoughts kept going back to Ryan, the agonized expression on his face remained in my mind, it helped me to feel rooted and anchored in the here and now.
