It was beautiful. The room was enormous, with high ceilings supported by thick wooden beams. Electric lanterns hung from hooks along the walls, casting a warm, golden glow over everything. Several large doors lined the walls, each one leading to what I assumed were individual homes. But what caught my attention most was the common area in the center. Children ran and played on a playground, their laughter echoing through the space. Swings hung from sturdy beams, a slide had been carved from smooth stone, and a climbing structure made of rope and wood stood in the corner. Women sat on benches nearby, chatting and watching their children with soft smiles. It was warm. Safe. And happy. I marveled at it, turning in a slow circle to take it all in.
