"Don't come closer!" Lessa reflexively stepped back after swatting away Lucas's large hand that touched her without permission. However, Lucas matched her steps and continued approaching her, ignoring the threats shouted by the girl.
"Lower your voice in the library, Miss." Lucas placed his index finger in front of his lips. In Lessa's eyes, Lucas looked like a man ready to pounce on her out of thirst. The girl certainly didn't want to be his prey.
"What do you want from me?" Lessa asked in a whisper. She agreed that yelling would only make her the center of attention, especially in a place that should be silent like the library. She had just accidentally dropped the newspaper she was holding, and Lucas took it, crumpling it until it lost its shape. Lessa snorted in confusion.
"Are you out of your mind?" The words came out involuntarily from Lessa's lips.
SRAKK!
Suddenly, Lucas pulled Lessa's neck closer, and his large hand could grip part of Lessa's neck while touching her lips with his thumb.
Lessa, unprepared to avoid it, froze in place when Lucas unexpectedly did this.
Lessa remained silent even though her fists clenched; she let Lucas's face approach hers for a few seconds before the strangely behaving man said something.
"I don't know what's appealing about you, Miss. Rendall's eyes were different when you were there earlier. What have you actually done?" Lucas's whisper turned cold. His breath hit Lessa's face, making her skin feel warm instantly. From such a close distance, Lessa could smell the refreshing mint perfume from Lucas's body.
Lessa couldn't do anything now except swallow her saliva.
"Lucas, you better release the girl now, or I'll report your violation for the umpteenth time this month to the headmaster," Percy came to rescue Lessa with his speech.
Lucas instantly released Lessa, who had paled a little, seeing Lucas's sudden change to cold and rough behavior. The girl didn't expect it at all.
"Enjoy your day, Heroes!"
Lucas left through the same door Percy had opened a few minutes ago. Meanwhile, Percy immediately looked at Lessa with an expression that couldn't be interpreted. Both of his hands were folded in front of his chest. "Didn't I tell you to avoid him?" Percy sighed disappointedly because Lessa had violated his advice as if what he told the girl had gone in one ear and out the other. Just passed through.
"He approached me first," Lessa retorted, not wanting to be blamed.
"Fine, it seems better for us to go to the cafeteria now. You look very pale; don't faint and make it difficult for me." Hearing the word cafeteria, Lessa jumped joyfully and quickly forgot the unpleasant incident she had just experienced.
They hurriedly left the library, and Percy closed the library door alone, pulling it, and once again, the way he did it made the large door seem very light.
Lessa descended the same stairs and returned to the ground floor, walking through the hall that now seemed emptier than before. It seemed like everyone had disappeared. Lessa wasn't sure whether she was supposed to attend classes or if she was still allowed to relax for a while.
Exiting the hall, Lessa didn't expect the cafeteria to be in a separate building, not in the largest one, certainly. The girl walked without commenting, following Percy, who was walking ahead.
Kraukk!
Percy stopped in his tracks after hearing a loud noise emanating from Lessa's stomach. It seemed to be the first time Percy had heard the rumbling sound of hunger from a girl, and it was an unusual occurrence. Judging by how Percy let his mouth hang open while staring at Lessa walking behind him.
"What?" Lessa was unaware of what was strange and unusual.
"It seems like you could eat a live calf," Percy sarcastically remarked before continuing to walk.
Lessa just rolled her eyes in annoyance at the remark about her stomach, which she considered natural and uncontrollable, of course.
Why such a comment?
The various aromas of food blended into one in the air and began to waft through Lessa's nostrils. The girl quickened her pace eagerly, sticking to Percy as if he were the one who would feed her.
CRASH!
Just as she entered through the nearest door into a one-story building with walls made of sturdy dark brown wood, Lessa was greeted by a flying plate that landed with a deafening sound on the floor in front of her. The plate was made of aluminum, at least a sturdy and unbreakable material.
"Oh my," Percy complained, also startled because the flying plate had nearly grazed his nose.
"What happened?" Lessa was curious about who had just thrown the plate.
Lucas. He wasn't alone; by his side, Rendall was staring directly into Lessa's eyes, locking onto her. They both stood in front of a man who was already kneeling on the floor, facing Lucas.
"Midnight again?" Lessa repeated in disbelief about her fate, which kept leading her to the two arrogant siblings.
"Don't look into their eyes, pretend you don't see anything," Percy whispered, then pulled Lessa's hand to walk with him.
Lessa did as Percy asked. However, from the side, she could glimpse from the corner of her eye how Rendall's eyes continued to follow her movements. Lessa looked uncomfortable being observed with the gaze of the main predator bird in the food chain. She slightly hid behind Percy, who was fortunately taller than her.
CRASH! Bang! Bang! Thud!
Because she wasn't focused on her own steps, Lessa bumped into someone who was standing silently, waiting for his friend, while standing still until the tray with two bowls of food she was carrying fell scattered on the floor. What's worse, the sound of the falling bowl managed to attract the attention of everyone in the cafeteria.
"I'm sorry," Lessa immediately bowed, apologizing to the muscular man she had just bumped into. The girl truly realized her mistake, her eyes sad as she looked at the food wasted, partly accidentally stepped on by her.
"You!" the man sounded furious. Lessa straightened up again and found the man growling strangely like a wild animal. The muscles in his large hands seemed to tense. Lessa reflexively stepped back slowly; she had no idea that there was another emotionally disturbed person in the school.
"Damn it - is there no normal person in this school?" Lessa thought to herself, swallowing her saliva.
Bukkk!
Someone was already standing right behind Lessa, causing the girl to bump into his chest. Lessa, who was on guard, slowly moved her neck to see who was standing behind her.
"Calm down, Buddy," Lucas said from behind Lessa with his casual tone.
"Grrrr..."
To make matters worse, the man didn't seem calm at all. Lessa could feel the heat around him, growing hotter as the man walked towards her. Lessa couldn't run anywhere because Lucas was behind her, blocking her.
"Grrrr..."
BRAKK!
TANGG!
Lessa instantly closed her eyes when the man suddenly jumped towards her, intending to attack her.
However, the girl didn't feel anything touching her except Lucas's hand landing on her shoulder. She opened her eyes again and found a horrifying scene right in front of her.
Rendall. He seemed to be crouching in front of an unmoving body, crushed by an iron table barrier that should have been intact. The iron table was now deformed, and something liquid flowed, touching Lessa's shoes. Something red, and the girl knew it wasn't sauce.
"Rendall, what are you doing?!" Lucas shouted, looking surprised by Rendall's sudden appearance. Lessa still didn't know how long Rendall had been in front of her.
"Grrrrr..."
A pair of deep yellow eyes made Lessa's knees feel weak instantly. Rendall turned to face her, and his gaze seemed to want to ensure that the girl wasn't harmed.
