Chapter 17: Running into him again

Over the next few days, Amy threw herself back into her busy school schedule.

Time flew by and her life returned to its usual calm, so uneventful that she almost thought those ridiculous days were just a dream.

In the blink of an eye, the internship arrived.

During this time, Carter got to see Amy a few times now and then, but his attitude became more restrained, no longer going over the top except for a few flirtatious comments. Apparently, Evan's warnings to him were having a significant effect.

Amy has been busy looking for an apartment lately.

With her internship about to start and the school's dorms closing, she needed to find a new place. She was going to share a room with Murray, but Murray and her man-crush, Christian, have confirmed their relationship and started living together, and Amy is not in a position to intrude, so she has to find her own place.

There was a demolished neighbourhood near the school that looked a bit run down, but the prices were cheap enough that many recent graduates chose to rent there, and Amy didn't have to look very hard to find a small room that was small enough for her to live in.

After paying the rent and deposit, she moved in that night, and went to bed after a brief tidy up.

"Buzz-"

The vibration of her mobile phone broke the silence and Amy sat up from her bed to see the name jumping on the screen - it was Grayson's call!

"Hello, Mr. Grayson ......"

Grayson's calm voice came through on the other end of the line, "Amy, I heard you moved out and aren't living at school right?"

"Yes Mr. Grayson, I found a place so it's much easier to get to work." Amy replied sincerely.

So far this month, since her internship position had been confirmed, she and Grayson had been interacting more, mostly preparing for what the internship would entail.

"That's great, I've got a project here that's just about to start, why don't you come over tomorrow and I'll arrange for someone to handle the onboarding process."

Grayson's words were blunt.

"Okay, thank you Mr. Grayson, I'll be on time tomorrow for sure!" Amy promised in a loud voice.

After hanging up the phone, she was so excited that she rolled several times on the bed, being able to enter Grayson's architectural design group was a huge opportunity for her, and she might be able to participate in designing landmark buildings in North City in the future.

With this hope, Amy gradually went to sleep.

The next day, Amy woke up early and took the metro to the group. The nervousness of her first day at work made her unable to even bother with breakfast, and she even drew her make-up especially carefully.

The onboarding process went smoothly, and the receptionist gave her a seat after showing her around the company environment.

"Miss Amy, this is your seat, your immediate supervisor is our Mr. Grayson, he will personally guide you, you will stay here for now."

Amy nodded her head and politely thanked, "Thank you very much."

The receptionist confirmed that everything was in order and left.Amy sat back in her seat and surveyed her surroundings, there were not many people on the office floor, the workstations were almost empty and she was positioned very close to Grayson's office. All indications were that she would be acting as his assistant.

It wasn't long before Grayson arrived.

He was dressed in a casual light grey outfit today, hands in his pockets and a smile on his face, looking relaxed and at ease.

"Good morning Amy."

Amy immediately got up to greet him, "Mr. Grayson, good morning."

"Don't be too formal, you're my student, just relax. Are the entry procedures all done?" Grayson asked.

Amy nodded, "Everything is ready."

"Just right then. You'll be coming to work starting today, and I'm on my way to take you on a design project, it'll be a good exercise for you."

With that, Grayson waved his hand, signalling Amy to follow him.

Excited like never before to have the opportunity to work on a project on the first day of her internship, Amy immediately followed Grayson.

Half an hour later, they arrived at North City Hospital.Amy looked at the familiar building and her heart started to beat faster.

With Grayson leading the way, they reviewed the overall design of the hospital and eventually made their way to the internal medicine building.

Amy was so focused that she inadvertently walked into a stairwell. She pushed the door with her hand to peer in and was suddenly met with a pair of cold, deep eyes.
