Sarah Gardner“Are you okay?” Caleb asked Sarah after everyone had gone. He put his hands on her shoulders, giving her a gentle massage.
Sarah put a hand on his. “I just can’t believe she did that, you know?” Misery loves company. Everyone knows that. Sarah wondered if she was blowing things out of proportion. As it was, she was known for her tendency to do just that.
Caleb pulled a chair out and sat next to her at the dining table. He rubbed at the stubble on his chin. “Yeah—that was pretty surreal. It shocked me when it happened, but I wasn’t sure what to do. I should have done something, but it was Kate’s mom, you know? I wasn’t going to jump on tiny a fifty-year-old woman.”
