Louise DelaneyBack at home, Louise and Abby went into the kitchen for a nightcap—a cup of green tea for Louise and a hot chocolate for Abby.
Abby told Louise about what had happened when they’d left her to go into the kitchen and how Helen had thrown dozens of questions that had made her feel uncomfortable. “What did you think about what happened today at Sarah’s?”
Louise took a sip of her tea. “To be honest, I was quite surprised when Helen struck Noah.”
“I know, right? I was so mad at her,” Abby said. “I mean, even if I didn’t have the best mother—at least she never hit me. I’ve been babysitting those kids for ages and I’d never ever do such a thing.”
