Kate MorganKate followed Sarah into the kitchen. It made little sense. Nothing was going right. She couldn’t comprehend what was happening or why her mother was being so—so...she couldn’t even find the words for it. This was not her mother. Sure, they’d had their differences in the past. Every mother and daughter did. Every relationship did. But this was her mother—they were tight, they were best friends. Kate thought that with Helen choosing to come and live with her, any disappointment she’d had caused her parents by following Evan to the United States had been forgiven. It was clear that this was not the case at all.
When Kate first told her parents that she was moving to the United States to be with Evan, her mother was the first to voice her displeasure and disappointment.
