Louise DelaneyPhilip helped Louise back into the living room and on to the sofa. He’d pulled the ottoman closer so that Louise could both stretch and rest her legs. She was eager to get the cast off, so that she could return to moving around unhindered. “Thank you, darling,” she said with a sigh. “That already feels so much better.”
“Is everything okay with Kate?” Philip asked as he sat down next to her.
Louise nodded. “Mmm, yes. Well, she’s upset, as I’m sure you’d noticed.”
“Do you want to talk about it?” Philip was a perceptive man.
“You know how it is,” Louise said. “Kate is still quite young. Some things are just a bit harder for her to accept.” It broke her heart to see Kate hurting, but there was nothing she could do but to try to placate her.
