Autumn 1097 SR The Duchy of Reinwick was, in essence, a large spit of land thrusting out into the Great Northern Sea. The sparsely populated western shore consisted mainly of thick oak forests that helped absorb the chilly winds blowing in over the water. Only one town graced this shore, the village of Gossenveldt, and it had no actual port to speak of, merely a collection of fishing vessels that were pulled up onto the shore at night. The eastern side of the country, the primary inhabited region, was where most of the land trade travelled up the great road that connected the larger cities of Blunden, Herenstadt, and the capital, Korvoran.
