••••••••JORDAN'S POV•••••••
The acting principal walked in, and I wondered if we even had a real principal, but of course.
It wasn't my concern.
The DJ suddenly turned off the music, and the students all kept quiet, giving him the attention he was supposed to get.
He smiled in his black pants and white vintage shirt.
“On behalf of the management, staff, and students of Lakeside Elites' Academy, I extend a formal welcome to you as you join our academic community.
Your admission reflects both your academic potential and the confidence we have in your capacity to uphold the standards of this institution. Boarding school life at this stage requires maturity, self-discipline, and a commitment to both personal and collective responsibility.
It is expected that you will conduct yourself with integrity, respect the school’s rules and values, and engage earnestly with the opportunities provided for academic and personal development. The faculty and housemasters are available to guide and support you throughout your stay.
We trust that your time here will be marked by diligence, growth, and meaningful contribution to the school community.
Once again, welcome to Lakeside Elites' Academy. We look forward to your positive impact." He smiled and waved.
We all applauded loudly with cheers.
"Who's ready to have some fuuummmmmm?" The MC jumped on the stage and yelled.
I covered my ears so they wouldn't get blocked from the screams.
These were the same students who attended LEA??
Crazy.
"Good evening, distinguished students; if you're feeling awkward tonight, you ain't normal," he yelled into the mic as we all burst into laughter.
His joke managed to lighten the tension I was feeling moments ago.
The music came up, and everyone got back to dancing.
The juniors had taken over the dance floor and were bopping their heads to the music.
I turned to observe around; damn, we were many.
Were we all prestigious, I mentally said and laughed.
"Come on, let's go to the dance floor," Sara shouted.
I shook my head and walked down to the bar to get a drink.
She tagged along.
"C'mon, girl, I want to have some fun." She laughed, and I perceived tequila in her mouth.
“When did you have a drink?” I opened my eyes in amusement.
”Is it allowed?” I asked. We were at the quiet part of the bar now.
"Yeahh… Except we had to bribe the gym teacher. The principal wouldn't let us, for f**k's sake, we're a bunch of teenagers," she yelled, and I know she was obviously drunk.
“The party hadn't even started and you're drunk," I whisper-shout.
"Oh, c'mon." She waved her hand over my face and walked to the dance floor.
"Whoa," I mouthed.
“Some chaos there, huh?” A bored voice said beside me.
I turned to see Kevin.
“Oh hey you," I replied back in the same tone.
I didn't feel like talking to anyone right now, and I felt the “eyes” on me again.
"Someone seems bored." He smirked and brought out his cigarette.
Lighting one up, he sat close to me.
"You smoke?” I asked.
He paused for a while, looked at it, and smiled.
“Yeah, yeah, I do. Do you?” he asked.
I shook my head violently. He laughed.
”It was just a question."
We stayed silent for a while observing, but I could see Kevin staring at me back and forth.
"Hey," he called.
I turned and hummed.
“Wanna dance?" he asked.
"Nahhhh."
“Well… Tell me about Jordan, will ya?” He slurred stem smoking.
"There's nothing to know; why's everyone asking?” I scoffed.
"Because you attract f*****g attention," he whispered softly like it was a sacred truth.
"I doubt that." I laughed, but the heat in my cheeks told otherwise.
I was flattered by his compliment.
"Ohhhh, ladies and gentlemen," the MC yelled.
“The time is 9 o'clock, and I need y'all to gather here as we fully begin the events, and mind you, it's mainly for the newbies, so therefore all newbies are to participate," he said over the microphone.
“Oh no," I croaked.
“Oh yes," Kevin beamed.
"Alright scholars, gather round for the first game of the night." The MC gushed happily. It seemed he was happier than we the students.
The girls rushed to take their chairs around the table, which was, by the way, extremely large and round.
"So I'm going to explain the rules of the game; it's that simple. It's called the Buddy pairing/Trivia game."
“Each newbie pairs with an older student, and then I also ask questions about the school and some other random pip question, and y'all answer it. We good?” He asked
"Yeahh," we chorused.
"I'm with Alexander," I heard a high-pitched voice yell.
I hadn't seen Angela for a while; everyone got paired up while I stood waiting for someone to pick me.
They all turned to me while I stood with fidgeting hands.
“I’m with her," Kevin announced.
I could feel the heavy silence and eyes in my neck.
I nodded and settled down into my chair beside him.
The MC began.
“Round one: Campus scavenger question one: How many gates does the school have?"
A junior student immediately raised her hand.
“Five gates” She gushed and they all applauded.
“Round one: Question two. What's the school slogan or motto?"
I think I knew this one.
“To the stars through difficulties?” I shrugged.
“Is that an answer or a question?” Angela mocked.
The MC ignored her and yelled, "Correct."
I smiled while she glared.
The rest of the game went on.
Round one: Campus Scavenger
Round two’: Guess the teacher.
Round three: This or that
And students were starting to get bored.
“We aren't kids." A girl murmured besides me. We were kids, actually. I mentally laughed.
A student whispered in the MC's ear, and something happened.
Suddenly we couldn't find the MC; he was gone.
And neither was there any senior teacher to monitor the activities.
Students were scattered around playing snooker and swimming.
And I found myself at the table; we were about to play “Spin the bottle."
