♪~♪~♪~♪ JORDAN'S POV
I stood on the rooftop with Sara as the morning sun hit my face and the east wind knocked my anxiety away. This was the feeling. The rooftop had quite the view.
The pool brought back memories I threw immediately out of my head.
I let out a short laugh before I could stop myself.
“Told you it was fun." Sara smiled; it reached her ears. It usually never did.
My phone buzzed in my pocket; I brought it out and stared at the screen.
It was my Lillian—
Lillian?? It echoed in my head as my brows furrowed.
I let out a sigh and turned back to the sun; Sara was smiling extremely widely.
“What’s the smile for?” I sneered teasingly.
She shook her head. “I just feel…. "Light," he whispered softly.
We sighed again at the same time.
“I’m bored; let's plan s**t," she shot with a crooked smile.
“Mischief—Love it. I suddenly feel like Angela," I said, and we erupted into laughter.
"Heyo, beauties from hell." A voice sounded out at our back.
We turned at the same time. It was James.
"Hey..." It's the shy one." Sara curled her lip at my hearing.
He walked straight to us and hugged me; I stood without hugging him back. It felt weird.
Sara let out a soft giggle. He nodded at her and stood in our middle.
That instant it clicked into my head; I sucked in a breath in realization. I hadn't seen him at the orientation.
Damn!
How did I not notice that?? My phone buzzed again. I was ignored.
"Shouldn't you pick that up?” Sara squinted at me.
"No—James, you weren't at the party," I said.
He turned to me with a lopsided smile. “You noticed?” He asked and swerved towards the sun. His eyes reflecting back.
James was cool, not intense like Alexander or cocky and mysterious like Kevin. Guys here were a whole lot on another level.
“Missed me?” He grinned.
"Maybe." I smiled.
“Maybe??” He whispered with fake hurt on his face.
My phone rang again, and I angrily brought it out of my pocket. With blazing eyes, I turned to Sara and James.
"Excuse me." I walked to the far end of the pool house where people change clothes, where they wouldn't see me or hear me.
With shaky hands, I picked up the phone.
“What?” I deadpanned flatly.
Silence and then a chuckle.
“You should learn to appreciate family, Jordan." Her voice came out from the other end; what was supposed to sound sweet and kind sounded like a devil luring a child to hell with ice cream.
”Why’d you call Lillian?” I fired back instantly.
“You’ve been avoiding calls; your dad has called countless times?” Her voice was back to its cold form.
“Is that supposed to concern me?” I replied.
She laughed.
“Seems living amongst the wolves has taught the sheep to act like wolves. "A wolf in sheep's clothing," she drawled.
“Anyways… I don't want to waste my breath and air on you. Pick up your f*****g phone, especially whenever your dad calls; he's nagging a lot—like a child, just like your mom. She let out a sigh, whispering the last part.
My hands curled up on the phone, threatening to smash it into pieces. I inhaled shakily.
“How about you never call this line again and f**k off, b***h," I spat angrily and hung up.
Like your mom!
I laughed shakily, covering my face before I could yell for the whole school to hear.
"You can shout if you want; no one's listening anyway." A cold voice strikes my thoughts.
“Shut up, Lillian—get the…" I paused.
It was him. Again.
Last night memories flooded into my head, my neck heated up in shame, and my legs almost gave way.
No, I was hungry. That's why.
I'm never crossing his path if I don't want to. I turned around.
“Who’s Lillian?”
“Mind your business," I shot immediately.
"Sara, come on…I'm going to the cafeteria; I'm hungry," I said from where I stood.
She turned and tried to complain, but she understood as soon as she saw him.
At least she wasn't dumb as Rachel; she didn't get signals.
I saw James's face go cold with rage. I squinted my eyes at him to make sure it was actually anger or just his bushy eyebrows playing with my head.
Why would I care anyway?
Together, Sara and I walked away.
“James—” I called.
He shook his head. “Was going to the library anyway; tests are coming up next week—go ahead," he smiled.
I nodded and let my gaze linger for a second before Sara whisked me away.
"Okaaayy... What was the tension about?" she shrieked.
“He’s becoming annoying. I came to study and show them I am not what they think. "Get a life and get out of here," I abruptly said.
“Them?” Sara creased her brows.
“Never mind, that was just me making another poem," I laughed smoothly.
It wasn't hard; I've been doing it for years.
"Anonymous news should be dropping anytime soon," Sara said, checking her phone.
We walked into the cafeteria; not many people were there. Everyone was probably sleeping after the party last night.
I wondered if Principal Hale hadn't seen the alcohol and condoms or the cleaners didn't report them.
We walked to a table and sat down. Dra grinned, picking up the menu, which looked like it had been updated with some new food.
“At last, let's go with theeee—Is it Jollof?”
"Apparently," I murmured.
I sighed.
"You've sighed about tent times today," Sara said and smacked my head.
“Hey you guyssss—” Jane's high-pitched voice cut across.
She walked up to us with her high slippers, tank top, and feathery short skirt.
She looked like she had tanned.
“What?” Sara didn't do well in hiding her boredom.
I think Jane was the girl I saw in the threesome last night.
I blinked. “What?”
She scoffed, “I saaaaid...I covered up for you guys, and now you have to do me a favor."
“You… covered up?? Coach probably found out anyway," Sarsa said, smacking her lips as the food dropped.
“I told her you had a bellyache and rushed to the toilet to stool." She shrugged.
Me? Stool?
WTF!
"Well...You?? My dear is a very bad liar," Sara said with her mouth full.
"You guys have to do me a favor or else..." She said, raising her brows like she was trying to make a point, but I could only see the clown I drew when I was three.
I doubled over into laughter.
Ping!
Ping!
Ping!
Everyone's phones started pinging.
“It’s hheereeee." A voice yelled earnestly.
I think it was the anonymous something they mentioned.
I opened my phone; it was a video, and it looked familiar.
The girl was in a white gown and was….. Oh no!
I opened it, and moans erupted from my phone. One by one, everyone started playing it.
My eyes flew open in shock.
