FALSE ALARM!!

1061 Words
"Jordan, come on," James yelled and took my hand while we ran out. "Fire...this is just early in the morning on a Tuesday," I screamed. "Yeah, and if you don't love your life, stay," he replied, only turning once to make a point with his blank, serious face. Students scrambled, and books fell as everyone struggled to get out the main door to outside. I never knew we were this many. Most people still had their nighties on, and I saw tons of people who never attended class. We all stood outside the building looking for the place that a fire had started. "No sight of smoke or anything?” Sarra said behind me. "Apparently none?” James said. “I think it's a false alarm." A student yelled. And the whispers started. Who could have done that?? “Where’s Angela?” Taylor yelled in the crowd. "Angelaaa," Rachel screamed, but there was no reply. “Oh no… Alex, we have to look for Angela." I had a bad feeling immediately; this was all setup. “Why do I feel they set this up?" I said. “Basically because they did," Sara replied and shrugged nonchalantly. “How’d you know that?” I asked. “You don't know these kids, Jordan, do you?. They want the attention, and now that Angela is here..." She shrugged again. “What is she, a god??" I screeched. “Nope…a queen. Her father's the governor of the famous San Alexio State. She's the only daughter with three brothers, and well…you'll get to know a lot of things about her soon; let's sit back and watch the drama, girl," Sara said and put a piece of gum in her mouth. “Meaning the T's and Rachel are her cohorts," I said. I need to learn everything about this school. “Rachel is a fool who follows Angela like a dog," James said, and I turned to stare at him. His voice sounded extremely cold just now. I wonder about the experiences he had in the school; I do know he hates Alexander. I've noticed it in how he reacts. Suddenly smoke started coming out from a room. “Oh great," Damien said. I turned and saw Alexander and his faithful boys around him. Alex seems to be more interested in the fire than the hovering girls behind him. Girls of this school were utterly shameless when it came to matters like gossip and boys or anything aesthetic; you'd think they weren't from wealthy homes. “Getting married to someone like Alex would boost your whole life," I had heard a girl say earlier in class. The smoke coming out from the room became alarming each minute that passed; suddenly a voice called from the same window. “Alex!” We all turned to the window and saw Angela with a torn uniform. “How did she??” I pointed with my mouth agape. “Told you." Sara smacked her gum. “I thought we all just left the class minutes ago," I stuttered, and James scoffed. “She probably planned it all along... attention's the goal," Sara shrugged. "Angelaaa,...Angela," Taylor and Rachel kept yelling at our backs. Alexander stood for some minutes like he was thinking and pushed his way out of the crowd and rushed into the school. Taylor's, Rachel's, and Angela's cohorts began to scream in delight. I scoffed. “I get now," I smirked. I turned and walked out of the scene; I couldn't stand the rate of their stupidity every moment that passed. Sara ran after me. "Where to?” She beamed. “Cool my head off," I inhaled, and she nodded. We walked to the garden to sit. Silence. One minute, two, three…shouts were heard in the distance. Angela at work again. “Tell me about yourself, Jordan." Sara turned to me with a sheepish grin. “Me?” I snorted. "Yeah, you, your name, anything," she said. “Leave it, Sara," I said. “What family do you come from?” She said, and I turned to her. “What do you mean, 'What family?'" “Everyone here comes from a family; just because you're a scholarship student doesn't mean you should be sad about it." She said. "Monroe," I said, and her eyes widened. “You?” She asked. "What?... Doesn't sound familiar?” I said. "Nooo... I mean, like Taylor and Tyler are Monroe's meaning." She said and scrunched her face. I sighed. "They're my stepsisters." “Oh my God... No wonder," she said and put her hand on mine and lingered for some time. "Yeahhh...No wonder." I laughed, but my throat tightened. "Are you guys done?" a voice I recognized resounded behind us, the gravel crunching in accordance with Sara's flinch. It was the boy I bumped into earlier, the tall dude. I knew I recognized that bored, condescending voice. “Hey there, you two." He smiled. “Why do the handsome ones have the prettiest smile?” I muttered and pinched Sara. “Umm ...because they're pretty?” She replied, snorting. “Heard your noise…thought I'd stop by and say hi," he smirked. “Kevin… Spare us, will you?" Sara said. “Ohhh… You know him," I asked, my eyes darting between the two of them. “Yeahhh…Kevin Lorenzo, he's an A," she said. "Oh," I noted. All the A's are wealthy and rich, also rude. “Rhe new scholarship student?” Kevin asked. “Thought you heard us?” I drawled. “I did," he quipped with a lopsided smile. “Let’s get to practice, Jordan; we're late," Sara said, and I nodded. “Nice to meet you though, Jordan." Kevin smiled but put a slur on my name. I smiled back while he stared at us as we left the garden. “Stay away from him, Jordan," Sara stated. I stopped and stared at her in confusion. “Trust me, you wouldn't want him treading on your path." She stated it and walked away. Now I was the one running after her. “Why?” I asked. “Because he's Kevin Lorenzo." She turned back fiercely. “Rumor has it that he once… Rinnnggg. The bell rang for sports. “I’ll see you in the court; I left my headband in my wardrobe.” “Rumor what…” I yelled, but she was gone.
