Brynn sat with her head in her hands watching the green line on the EKG monitor in front of her, trying her best to stay awake. As her coworker was on an extended break to rest, Brynn was by herself in the unit for the moment and her fatigued mind wandered. With a quick glance at the digital clock, she realized she’d officially been at work for sixteen hours. The snow storm meteorologists initially predicted to be potentially record-breaking turned into a winter crisis. The snow that started coming down late the night before hadn’t abated and, with an increase in wind speed, quickly turned the winter weather warning into a full-blown blizzard warning.
