Chapter 16The Previous Day… The hospital walls were eerily white. The antiseptic smell was nauseating, and reminded Cameron of the final moments he had spent with his ailing mother. Everything about this place, from the neon lights to the sad faces of patients, put him on edge. Cameron collapsed into a squeaky pleather chair. The unread letter that had tormented him for days was now burning a hole in his pocket. Keller had just been wheeled into surgery, and Cameron knew he would have a few hours to kill before the appendectomy was finished. He decided to pull out the paper and stare at it.
