Cataleya Volin

CATALEYA’S POV “Why are you looking at me like that?” I asked when Charlotte seems to be staring dagger at me as soon as I entered the student council building. “Where have you been? And did I just heard the sound of the helicopter landing on the roof just then? How many times do I have to tell you that the use of the helipad is strictly forbidden for students to use?” I waved my hands while Charlotte continues to lecture me. “I went back to my house for lunch. My grandmother is currently here, so I have to show my face once in a while.” Charlotte sighed. “Still, it doesn’t help if the presidency candidate decided to misuse her power within the school. Please remember that you’re one of the chosen candidate. Do not bring shame to the student council.” I feel like my ears about to bleed just from hearing this woman. “Charlotte- I understand that you’ve been slaving yourself for the student council, but it wasn’t my fault that the student body choose both Swan and me over you. I never wanted to be elected, nor I wish to have this school wrap around my fingers. I am the principal daughter- this school is already mine. Please stop lecturing me.” I patted my best friend’s shoulder before sitting on the couch. “Fine. But you’re up against Swan after all. That woman has a lot of loyal ‘followers’ behind her. Just remember that if Swan wins the election for the new student council president, she has power over you.” Charlotte kindly reminded me. To be honest, I don’t even care if she does. All three of us has been friends since we’re in the womb- if I have to say it that way. Our mothers’ are best friends and it’s only fitting if we followed our mother’s footsteps. But since we’re just little child, Swan and I would always challenged each other while Charlotte is the judge. “I don’t mind. It’s time for Swan to have the upper hand. She has a long gap of losing streak whenever she decided to go against me.” I chuckled. “Anyway, how do you intend to handle Rodrick? He’s been searching for you and asking if you would take him back. Cataleya- I am annoyed by him. Please do something about that annoying pest. I told you before that getting involved with him is trouble.” Well, if he genuinely cherishes the relationship we had, he wouldn’t be exposing himself by having an affair with the upperclassmen. “He can f**k himself. If he continues to annoy you, just ask Swan to do something about him. Anyway, where is Swan? I haven’t seen her since- how long was it?” Charlotte showed her phone to me. “Swan is currently in Dubai together with her brother. That girl has a luncheon with the prince, and she will be here by next week.” I sighed. No wonder it feels empty and lonely. “Is having luncheon with the prince that important? Why can’t that woman be here and entertain me like she always does? It’s fun to beat her, and it’s amusing to win against her.” Charlotte shakes her head. “Swan has a different life than us. Both Swan and her brother have responsibilities for their family. Unlike us, who has siblings to take care of the family, they don’t.” That is true. Because before Swan even had a brother, the Clarkson was grooming her to be the next head of the family, but now that her brother was born, Swan is to train her brother to be an exemplary leader. “Well, I’m going to my next lesson. What about you?” I asked Charlotte, who seems to be doing something. “I have to do these paperworks. It’s fine. You may go.” I nodded and was about to leave when Charlotte clears her throat. “Do not; I repeat- do not use the ATV to go to the main school building. And yes, I am warning you.” I smiled at Charlotte while waving at my friend as I leave. Well, Charlotte didn’t say anything about the scrambler motorcycle. Does that mean I can use it? It’s a long way from the student council building to the main school building. I smiled upon seeing the motorcycle. “Cataleya! Stop! Do not use the scrambler! CATALEYA!” I smiled at Charlotte before starting the motorcycle and ride towards the school building. I’m pretty sure most students are inside their respective classroom. None of them would be roaming around the school compound at this hour. Volin High. My grandmother used to be one of the top assassins in Volin Women’s Academy. I mean, who doesn’t know the existence of the ‘seraphim blade’? Irina Volin is one of the top tier killers of her time. And the same woman is currently at home. As I was going through a small road that leads to the main school building, I heard a commotion coming from the forest. When I stop the motorcycle, I saw a group of students doing ‘something’. “So you think you’re all that just because Charlotte giving you some face?! Don’t act highly! You’re nothing but a girl who came from the slumps! Get her!” Ah, it’s one of Charlotte’s followers. But why are they all ganging up on that female student like that? It’s not fair. “Hey! HEY!” I called out before walking towards them. “Don’t even think of running away from the mess you’ve done! Do not make me pulled my weapon on you guys! STAY!” So these are the faces who supports Charlotte? Despicable! I look down on the female student who was beaten. “Explain yourself- that’s an order,” I said before glaring at the group of student who gangs up on a female who doesn’t seem to know the true nature of Volin. “This new student dare to act all mighty since she has the grace of Charlotte Sena.” I grabbed hold of his neck. “Who are you to call Charlotte by her name? Did she permit you to speak of her name? Know your place, sir.” The student who speaks for the group seems to be struggling as I squeeze his neck. “Pay for your action. Report yourself to the disciplinary committee. If I know that all of you decided to bail, I will have to resort to violence. Volin High doesn’t tolerate bullying.” I helped the female student who seems to be in pain. “Yes, ma’am.” “Off you go. Do not show yourself in front of this student ever again. If you dare, I will take action towards your family instead. Be gone.” I watched as a group of student leave the forest. “Are you okay? I asked the female student who kept her head low. I reached inside my jacket to grabbed my phone and called for Charlotte. *** “This is not good. It’s supposed to be a memorable first day in Volin, but because of my action, Dawn has to suffer like this. Should I just appeal to the principal to kick them out from Volin? This school doesn’t need someone like them.” Charlotte said while looking at the unconscious female student. “She was lucky that I was there. If not, the students would do something even more sinister than just a simple beating. Since Swan is not here to guide the disciplinary committee, should one of us take over the presiding?” Charlotte shakes her head no. “I’ve informed Swan that the student who received the scholarship from the Clarkson family is injured. From what Swan said in her text, she will try to shorten her trip because it won’t do the Clarkson any good if this matter goes out to public attention. Dawn is here because of the scholarship that the Clarkson family provided. Swan’s family will receive the heavy blow- not the student who gang on Dawn. That poor soul. Dawn has been through a lot.” Charlotte sighed. So the female student name is Dawn? “Miss Sena, Miss Volin- I’ve done a thorough medical checkup on the student named Dawn Roman. It seems that the injuries Miss Roman received today are not the only trauma her body has experienced. From what I can say after the examination- Miss Roman is a victim of long-term abuse.” Charlotte and I look at each other. “Long-term abuse?” I asked. The doctor nodded. “Since I saw the sign of abuse, I decided to check the local hospital records and make some calls. It seems Miss Roman has visited several hospitals to avoid getting into trouble. And the common excuse Miss Roman would use is either she fell from the stairs, or she simply had a small accident while walking down the street. There were also a few old scars on her back which indicated that she was abused.” Charlotte sighed. “With the way she smiled, no one would even suspect a thing! She was cheery while I show her around the campus.” Well, isn’t that normal for anyone who was abused for such a long time? It’s normal for them to get hurt and at some point, they didn’t even care if they were bleeding. “That explained why Dawn insist that she was fine when I tried to bring her here. The only reason why we manage to do so was that this woman fainted when she tried to leave.” Someone need to tell this woman that it’s okay to rely on others. What is the point of being a senior if we can’t even help our junior who are in need? “Should I inform the principal?” I placed a hand on Charlotte's shoulder. “No. My mother would hinder the process. Let’s deal with this matter using the student council name. I’m sure Swan will prefer it that way. Those who hit this girl will pay for what they’ve done. After all, those group of students smeared the good name of the Clarkson family.” And I would like to sit on the first row if that happens. Swan may come from a family that value friendship over business or politic but even the Clarkson couldn’t stay idle if someone dares to dirtied their right name. “Cataleya, Rodrick is here.” Charlotte informed. Huh? Who told this cheating man that I’m here? “What do you want, Rodrick?” The man smiled from ear to ear upon seeing me. “Cataleya, where have you been? I’ve been trying to find you this whole day. Imagine my surprised to hear that you were in the hospital wing. Are you okay?” How long will this man pretend he’s oblivious about his surrounding? I know that he played a big part in hurting the new student. Just because Dawn was there with Charlotte at the time- he thinks the commoner was mocking him. “What have you done to Dawn?” I asked as soon as he stood in front of me. “What? What do you mean? And who is Dawn?” Rodrick seems to realised something. “Oh! Do you mean the scholarship student? Why should I care about that insignificant ant?” Insignificant? I chuckled. “Rodrick, you’ve crossed the line when you decided to take another woman onto your bed. Have you ever think about the things you’ve done behind me? Our family know each other, but you decided to smear s**t on my family name. My grandmother is not happy about this. Just to let you know, she is currently in town. All you have to do now is wait for her instruction.” I smiled at my ex before leaving him alone to think about the consequences of his action. “No! You can’t do that! You love me! You wouldn’t want to do that to me! Cataleya! Have you forgotten the memories we had together? You will be the main talk of the town if you end this engagement! Think about our family! Cataleya!” How dare he says such things after what he’s done to me! “Rodrick, do not let me destroy your existence. If not for your family, I would already take your head and displays it at the school’s front gate for everyone to see. But I am a decent human being who forgive you for cheating on me. Please leave me alone before you regret it.” I warned him before excusing myself. It should be enough to tell him that I am no longer head over heels for him. Rodrick and I are over the moment he kisses another woman that is not me.
