Chapter 2: My Inheritance

(Andra pov) “Andra times up” “No! Mum, dad I didn't even get to say goodbye”. As I sobbed on the floor, “It's all my fault, if I had woken up quicker they would have been alive right now, it should have been me.” “Andra it's not your fault, you didn't know. How could you have known? Don't blame yourself, your parents wouldn't want you to sit here crying. They would have wanted you to rise up and be the best version of yourself and live your life happily. Don't worry I know for a fact they want you to be full of life and grow up to be the best you can be in this world.” I felt so defeated but I had to carry on for my family’s sake. So I took the moon goddess’ advice and I woke up from a dream. I felt stronger than ever to pursue my dreams, I needed it. It was in the middle of the night but I had the urge to run away as if it was now or never. So I packed my things. I packed some of my clothes in an overnight bag and the rest in my suitcase together with my phone & laptop. I jumped out the window and I ran away and never looked back. I knew that I was never coming back to this place again. As I went on my journey I heard a twig snap, I was shaken up. I thought it was Alpha James but it was not who I thought it was. As I turned to look, Emma I thought, what is she doing here? “Emma what are you doing here?” I asked as I seen her standing there behind a tree. I thought to myself, was she really just going to follow me and think I wouldn't suspect a thing? Well she was wrong. “I came after you’’ she said as she came from behind the tree “But how did you know I was gone? I didn't tell anyone” I said. “Yes you didn't tell anyone but when I saw you climb out of your window carrying a backpack with your suitcase I thought you were running and away and well I was right.” “How long have you been following me?” I asked Emma as she stood there facing me “For about maybe 20 minutes.” “Well since you’re already here we might as well go on this journey together.” I said as she followed me through the woods. “Andra if I may ask, where are we going to?” “I don't know that part of the plan as yet but somewhere far away from here.” “Ok well are we gonna stop soon I'm tired?” “Sure let me just see if I can find a campsite around here somewhere and some wood to make a fire.” “Okay I'll help you. I’ll have a look around here for the wood while you look for the campsite.” Emma said as she walked away into the woods. I went around in circles looking for the safest campsite where we can spend the night. Since it was just the two of us, I wanted us to be safe. I came across this site that was safe enough to get us through the night. I spotted Emma coming back and it looked like she had succeeded in finding the wood to make the fire. “I'm back and I found plenty of wood to make the fire.” Emma said. “Great! Now all we need is to find food for supper.” I told her. Emma rubbed her hands together and smiled at me ready for the challenge as she said, “Well that shouldn’t be too hard, we can look together.” I just shook my head and smiled as I watched her put the wood down. “Come on then before it gets really late and the woods come to life. You know we don’t want to be wondering around when that happens.” I said as we began walking around quietly in the woods so we don’t scare off our dinner. Our senses were on high alert as we continued on picking up any sounds near us. We were not experts but we knew enough to catch at least a rabbit. We walked around cautiously for about 5 minutes before we both turned our heads to a rustling sound behind the bushes not too far from us. I immediately look over at Emma and seen that her expression matched mine of total fear because that sound was too noisy to be a rabbit or anything small. So we stood in a fighting stance ready for whatever it was coming at us. Not even a second later this baby dear jumped up and through the bushes running away from us. My heart was pounding in my chest and ears I look at Emma and all of a sudden realisation hit us at the same time and we both started laughing at how fearful we were over a baby dear. When the laughter died down I asked Emma seriously “Are you ok?” she looked at me and nodded her head as she giggled out, “I was so scared I almost wet myself, but I’m fine now. Let’s just get our food and go back quickly. ”Ya I agree let’s get this over with as quickly as possible.” I responded. So we got back into our hunting mode again and within 10 minutes we managed to catch a rabbit and now we were heading back to our campsite. As we walked together Emma turned to me with a serious expression on her face and asked, “Andra, why did you run away?” I exhaled as I shrugged my shoulders and answered, “I was tired of that life, I’m eighteen now and felt it was time for me to move on from that pack.” I watched her as she nodded her head in understanding of what I just said. I still had to tell her about Noah and my dream with the mood goddess. Emma was my best friend and I do trust her with my life but telling her about my parents and what’s to come makes me a bit nervous because I’m afraid of how she will respond, even though she proved her loyalty to me by running away with me, without being asked to do so at the drop of a hat. I love my friend and I guess it’s time for me to tell her everything. So I continued to explain before she could say anything, “I also found my mate in the pack.” Emma’s eyes shot up to mine in an instant as she gasped and exclaimed excitedly, “Really!” then she all of a sudden had a disappointed expression on her face, “Then why are you only telling me now, I thought I was your best friend.” She said pouting her lips and folding her hands across her chest. I shook my head and smiled as I said to her, “You’ll understand once you know who it is. It’s Noah.” I told her and watched her expression. “Yuck eeeewwww, ok I understand now, no wonder you didn’t say anything. I forgive you. I hope you rejected him on the spot, I wouldn’t want to be matted to him either after all those years of bullying us.” She said with an expectant look, waiting for me to confirm that I had rejected him. I looked at my best friend and I realised I was really afraid of nothing she really does have my back. “Yes I did although he rejected me first and walked away happy with himself at the thought of him hurting me yet again. But he didn’t realise that I have my own surprise in store for him so before he got too far I rejected him using my full name and I ended up leaving with a smirk on my face as he was shocked to know who I was. And yes he did try and come after me claiming that he ‘loved’ me but I know he was just after my status and family money.” “Yay go Andra!” Emma shouted in excitement at what I just told her. “But that’s not what pushed me to leave.” I told her and her face once again became serious as she asked me “What do you mean?” I looked at her seriously and began explaining about my dream and the moon goddess and what she showed me. “And so I decided I need to at least try and live the life my parents wanted me to live instead of wasting my life away. So when I woke up I had this urge to get up and leave, it was a now or never kind of thing. So I just did it.” Emma looked at me with unshed tears in her eyes and said to me, “Andra you know how much I love you and I will always be by your side no matter what. One thing you can always count on in this world is that you have a sister for life. Just know that you are not alone and from today I will always be your family, it’s us against the world. Where you go, I go for the rest of my life.” She stretched out her arms and hugged me tight as we cried in each other’s arms. “What about when you find your mate?” I asked her. “Well he will have to come with us wherever we go and if he truly wants to be with me he will come, if not I will just reject him.” She said shrugging her shoulders. Oh how I love this girl but I can’t expect her to do that for me. “No don’t reject him for me.” I told her but she was persistent, “No he has to understand that you are the world to me and we are a package deal.” And that was that once Emma made up her mind there was no persuading her to change it. So I didn’t even bother trying. We made our way back to the campsite. I picked up the wood and started to put them in a circle to make the fire. I thought I must have matches in my bag somewhere. As I searched my bag for matches I finally found some and I lit the wood on fire. Emma skinned the rabbit in the meantime and when I looked over at her I saw that she had spices and was spicing the rabbit before we cooked it over the fire. “Emma where did you get spices from I asked her?” she looked at me sheepishly as I arched my eyebrow at her in question. She half giggled as she said, “I had packed spices just in case, you never know when they might come in handy,” she answered and carried on what she was doing and I let it be. So we cooked the rabbit over the fire while taking up a storm about any and everything. I had brought 2 camping bags; I had packed an extra one just in case. When we were done eating we got into our sleeping bags tired from the long day we just had. As we lay there warming ourselves up by the fire I saw Emma finally fall asleep. I felt sleepy too so I closed my eyes and allowed the darkness to take over me. I woke up to the most delicious smell that made my tummy grumble, forcing me to open my eyes when everything that happened yesterday came flooding back to my mind. To say that I was shocked at the sight before me was an understatement, I saw Emma making breakfast. “What you making Emma?” I looked at the yummy food that was lying down on the table “I’m making some bacon and eggs and some fruit punch.” “Where did you get all that food I didn't carry any of that in my bag.” “Oh no I carried it in my bag.” “Your bag? I didn't see you with any bag.” “Now after I seeing you climb out of your window I went home to go pack a few things and pack some food just in case and well it came in handy” “Well you really came prepared didn't you?” “What can I say, I always do think in advance just in case I need it.” “So why didn’t you just say that before we went out to hunt a rabbit last night?” “Well where would the fun be in that, it was an adventure didn’t you like it? It really felt like Hunger Games didn’t it?” “You know Emma sometimes I don’t understand you.” I said as I shook my head at her but I still love her. When Emma and I finished breakfast we went on our long journey. We passed a few packs and stopped at each pack to have some food. Then we came across this particular pack, I think it was like the third pack away from Alpha Jamie’s pack. I’m not sure of the pack name but the Alpha wanted to see us because the word had been going around about two she-wolves going from pack to pack, so the Alpha sent his men to bring us to him when we reached their territory. “Please follow me?” The man said as he led us into this big mansion. We followed the man into the pack house and he led us to a lady sitting in front of the desk and then the man who had led us into the pack house left.
