Alessia “Go back, Mika.” I walk for at least forty-five minutes—taking rests when I get winded—when I realize that Vlad may not have followed, but Mika did. He’s trailing five feet behind me, head ducked like a bad spy. But he doesn’t belong with me, he belongs with Vlad. I have a phone—I can call my brothers. They’ll figure out how to get me home safely. But Mika can’t come with me. I mean, he could, but I don’t think it’s the best option for him. And Vlad needs him.
