The room became completely silent, curiosity clearly shown on everyone’s faces as the trio stepped in.
They were all strikingly good-looking, the one on the left side had dreamy hazel eyes and very dark brown hair. The one on the right side had very light brown hair and blue eyes that reminded her of the ocean, but one stood out among them, which was Max.
I felt my heart race as our eyes briefly locked, but I quickly looked away, unable to comprehend the magnetic pull I felt toward him.
The trio approached our table. “Can we sit here princess,” said Max. “ Of course you can have a seat,” said Elena, with mischief evident in her voice, which earned her weird looks from the three boys and I.
As they settled in, the cafeteria came alive with whispers and glances, probably wondering why the three hottest guys in school chose to sit with us, which I’m also wondering.Even with such thoughts in my head, I still couldn’t tear my eyes away from him, especially those intense green eyes of his.
Hi, I'm Ethan," said the one with light brown hair and a warm smile.
"And I'm Damon," added the third member of the trio, with a playful glint in his hazel eyes.
I smiled and introduced myself, “I'm Emily and this is my sister Elena,” I said, smiling at Elena, who replied with a “Hi.”
“thought your name was princess,” said Ethan, smirking, which earned him a smack from Max and a laugh from Damon.
“I am the only one allowed to call her that, no one else,” Max said with all seriousness, which made my heart skip weirdly as i looked at him.
“Well, that is something,” said Elena, interrupting as she laughed it off, trying to make things less awkward.
So, do you guys live around here?" Damon asked.
To which I nodded, finding my voice. "Yes, we’ve lived in this town for as long as we can remember actually, what about you guys?"
"We just moved here recently," Ethan replied.
“Are you guys like brothers?” asked Elena.
“Not by blood, but we consider ourselves family. Are you guys twins?” Damon asked.
“We are step sisters,” Elena replied, and he nodded.
Max, who had been relatively quiet until then, finally spoke up. "It's a nice town. Beautiful scenery and welcoming people."
"Yes, you guys will love it here," Elena chimed in,
“We are already loving it, trust me,” Damon said, and they gave each other a knowing smile.
After a pleasant lunch filled with laughter and getting to know each other, it turns out Damon was the goofy one among them, Ethan was more chill and Max was well, Max.
“Give me your phone princess,” said Max to me as we stepped out of the cafeteria, which I immediately did without thinking or questioning why, as if reading my mind, he smirked at me and typed something into my phone.
“Here you go princess, That is my number,” he said, giving my phone back to me. “See you in school tomorrow,” He said, as they walked out of the school entrance. “Wait, where are you guys going? School isn’t over yet,” shouted Elena after them.
“We are done for today,” replied Ethan, without turning back.
“They are so hot! And they came to sit with us. Max is totally into you. Did you see how he kept looking at you throughout lunch break? I am so happy for you Em, finally some romance in your life,” El kept talking to me and I completely ignored her as we headed to our next class. Deep down, all what she was saying was making me feel a nice tingling sensation, but I kept pretending to not be affected by her words.
After class, me and Elena headed home together. The sun had begun its descent, casting a warm golden glow over the neighbourhood. My mind was still very much occupied with the thoughts of Max, he just naturally had that much power over me.
As we approached the front door of our home, I couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement. Just the idea of seeing my mom and stepdad after such a long day really made me feel at ease, my family is for real my safe place. My Dad died when I was two years of age and even though it's been years, I still miss and feel a deep connection with him.
I was still very grateful for my loving and supportive family, which consisted of my mom, Elena, and John and I cherish the moments we spend together.
Entering the house, a sweet aroma of home-cooked meal, obviously my stepdad’s specialty because my mom can't cook to save herself.
Elena dashed to her room to change and help out in the kitchen. Leaving me alone for a moment.
“Mom, we are back,” I called out, not knowing where exactly she was.
Soon, she appeared in the hallway, wearing a warm smile. My mother had a gentle and nurturing presence, which always made me feel safe and loved. She wrapped her arms tightly around me, which is something she always does to me and Elena when we come back from school.
Hey, sweetie, how was your day?" she asked, looking into my eyes with motherly concern. I love her so much.
"It was good, Mom. Something exciting happened today,"I replied, a hint of excitement obvious in my voice.
"Oh, really? Do tell," she said with a twinkle in her eyes.
I hesitated for a moment, unsure if I should share my encounter with Max and the strange feelings I had because I always tell my mom everything. But for some reason, I felt that this was something I needed to keep to myself for now.
"It's nothing, just a new friend at school," I said, trying to downplay the significance.
Mom smiled, respecting my privacy. "Well, I'm glad to hear that. You can always talk to me if anything is bothering you or if you want to share something special."
"I know, Mom. Thanks," I said, giving my mother a warm hug.
Dinner was filled with laughter as usual, “guys,” Elena started, earning curious looks from us. “Guess who has the hottest boy in school's attention?” she said, earning a scowl from John.
“Em, stop exaggerating the situation. He was just being friendly,” I quickly said before she adds more details
“Sure,” she said, smirking at me.
“You both know you are not allowed to date, right,” said John with a very obvious frown which made mom chuckle. “You know they are nineteen, right,” said mom incredulously.
“It doesn't change anything, they are still my little girls,” he mumbled.
“Okay, you guys are going way overboard. Nobody is dating anybody,” i said, wondering how the situation turned into this.
After dinner, I went to my room. I love my room so much. The walls are painted light green, which just brings this natural comfort to me and of course my beautiful big bed, I love my bed so much. It's probably my first love, we share such a deep connection when I'm away from my bed I miss it so much, if that isn't love I don't know what is and with that I jumped on it.
Later on I did my assignment even though it was to be submitted next Tuesday and today was still Wednesday. I then went to get snacks from the kitchen.
“Hey John,” I said, seeing as he was still downstairs reading one of his books about stars.
“Hey baby girl, still awake I see,” He said, looking up at me. “Yeah, just wanted to get some snacks,” I replied.
“Alright, Goodnight baby girl,” I replied with a smile.
I love John so much, he is literally a father to me, but I don't know why I still can't call him dad, even though he hasn't ever said anything about it, I know he wants me to.
Later that night, as I lay in bed, watching my movie, my mind was immediately filled with the thoughts of Max and the strange sensations he evoked in me. I couldn't deny the deep connection I felt with him, but I also couldn't understand the reasons behind it.
With that thought in mind, I slept off wondering about this sudden pull I felt towards him.
