Chapter 8
Sunlight enters their shabby room through dust particles in a dry and filmy manner and dances around exposed light fixtures, creating narrow slits that pigeons cannot pass through while forming extended streaks over their fake wood floor. Sitting together at the dining table reveals Emily and Thomas's remarkable discomfort. This morning's situation remains unchanged and final after last night's events with no possibility of retreat. Victor's plan unfolding will send Whitechapel into chaos.
Bold strategy
“Foy your Tech” trainee Emily replied firmly. Victor is certain that we understand his plan and he will continue until we finish his assignment.
Thomas sits crossed-armed in his seat while looking shocked at the ongoing situation. Jimmy: The deadly nature of his actions makes entering his mind a fatal endeavor for anyone.
Entering and becoming the sole underwriter of his entire operation is not within our responsibilities, explained Emily while leaning forward. We must simply cut off his head. All of Victor's allies will disperse.
Thomas's brow furrowed. How should we expose his tactics throughout our discussion? He probably commands our team at present, as every gang member across the globe tries to match their success.
Emily pulled out her hand-drawn map and placed it on her desk. Emily pointed at the locations with unique markings on her map before she directed them to a warehouse by the dock and commented, "This location..." It all pointed to Victor being in Tripoli.
Thomas clenched his jaw as he examined the map. "It's a gamble."
That’s the only way, Emily argued. Every passing moment increases the number of people who will experience harm. We must act now."
A DANGEROUS ALLIANCE
Emily and Thomas realize they need assistance before Victor can activate his magic. Given the current circumstances, I am convinced this place cannot be described as a suburban pub that hosts gossipers and informants. Upon discovering Victor, the location received collective agreement to become their first point of action from all participants.
A man with both silver hair and a facial scar watched them as they moved towards the bar. He sneered and then said to them with disdain," You're not one of us.
Emily slid some coins across the counter. Searching for information.
She scrutinized the coins meticulously before she placed them into her pocket. "Information is expensive."
Emily advanced toward them with her voice remaining quiet throughout. "We're looking for Victor. We can't move forward without knowing where he is located.
"The bartender frowns. It's a dreadful chance, miss
Emily growled at the prospect of having to deal with more shenanigans while she was not in the right mood. Yi... Our team will choose someone with communication skills if you are unable to manage your speech.
The bartender gives Emily a quick glance before signaling to a dark figure hiding in the bar's corner. "Talk to him. If anyone knows, it's Sam.
Together, Emily and Thomas approached the man quickly. He leaned forward over his pint glass with a tense posture, as though he anticipated threats lurking in every shadow.
"Are you Sam? "Thomas asked.
He raised his eyes and squinted. "Who's asking?
Emily was blunter. We have to know who Victor is. And we're willing to pay."
Sam's gaze sharpened. Understanding Victor's need for isolation reveals his wish to remain unnamed.
Emily reached into his pocket and put a compact pouch of coins onto the table surface. We cannot depart until we have collected our possessions.
Sam's distress forces his eyes to shift back and forth between the bag and the steadfast expressions of those around him. Finally, he sighed. You are really brave, I think. Stupid, but brave. Their designated victory center will be the former Wharf warehouse. People didn't pay attention to him, which allowed his constant monitoring to keep going without any interference.
Emily stood up and declared she had learned all she needed to know. "Thanks."
Tom captures all the dust effectively as MOE prepares the spray while Sam tries to move back but approaches closer because Tom returns to continue the task. Stay away if you're smart. They reign victorious. They leave no loose ends behind.
She yanked her arm back out, ice-cold. "Neither would I."
METHOD
Emily and Thomas slipped into the warehouse by using the deserted dock. The air saturated with salt and decay weighs heavily in the atmosphere as distant waves pound together and break their pattern near motionless docks.
"Are you sure? Thomas' voice was barely a whisper. "
"No," Emily admits. "But it's our only chance."
The pair hid behind stacks of crates which were right inside the entrance with huge doors leading to the building. Two guards stood by the gate performing their duties as bouncers. An unheard hum emerged from inside.
Emily glanced at Thomas. "We need a distraction."
Thomas made a grunt before bending over to grab a small rock from the ground. He stood twenty yards away from the stack of barrels which would be hit by the rock. The loud noise made the guards turn their heads to investigate what had caused them to react.
Emily used the distraction to slip past the guards and instructed Jess to enter the warehouse.
Inside the Beast's Lair
Warehouse air becomes thick with oil and dusty wood while boxes and machinery occupy the space. The workers moved wheelbarrows full of boxes through the workspace while keeping their faces expressionless and grim. Victor uses his masterfully controlled voice to maintain attention as he talks through gossip.
She moved silently towards Tomas, whose body remained hidden within the shadows while her heart raced rapidly. In the low light, Victor's knife blade became visible as he wore it on his belt. All minds across Whitechapel suffered due to his relentless domination where fear spread because of his invasive presence.
Thomas presses his mouth to her ear. "What's the plan?
Emily hesitated. They face more enemies with better weapons but remain in control due to their surprise element. She whispers," Bring him down fast. "Without hesitation."
Victor's soldiers spotted them mere seconds before they were to leave. "Intruder! Pointing at them, he shouted.
Workers left their posts to find weapons during the unfolding c*****e. Emily and Thomas weave between stacked crates while avoiding enemy attacks and striking back with combat swings when they have the opportunity. The booming shouts and metallic clashes in the air illuminate the metal landscape.
Victor chuckled at himself quietly as he observed the chaos from a distance before pulling his knife to approach them from behind stealthily. "Among all the stones! ‘Well,’ he said, dripping with irony. You didn't select this fight, but now you're trapped in its midst.
Emily stands firm, her eyes narrowing. "It's over now, Victor."
While he thrust the shiny knife toward her, she maintained eye contact. As Victor's arms flailed helplessly, she slipped underneath to retrieve a steel rod from a neighboring box and used it to block his incoming punch. They continued to make eye contact while circling around each other.
A close call
Thomas fought back with his fists and used all of his strength to stop the workers. "Emily, we have to go! "he shouted.
Emily dodged Victor's punch quickly before kicking his knee, which knocked him down to the floor. Without pausing to see if he had gotten back on his feet, she turned to grab Thomas's arm.
The warehouse hijackers vanished into darkness while angry shouts followed them. Each breath becomes a battle through their chilled lungs as they pant as though they had sprinted because they wished all events were untrue.
Emily spoke to Thomas as they disappeared into the alleyway shadows, saying "We haven't finished yet." Victor planned to stay outside until death became our fate.
Thomas agreed with a somber expression. We need to identify solutions that stop the situation from escalating to this critical stage.
The conflict persists, yet their position remains weakened at this moment. In Victor's Empire, the war ends without Edward Lamb, but Emily says:" You are responsible for your actions."
