(Emery’s POV) It was strange, the way silence sounded after chaos. For the first time in what felt like forever, there were no headlines. No death threats. No lawsuits. No cameras. Just rain tapping against the windows of the new cabin, tucked higher in the mountains than the last one. Emery sat on the bed, the bump of her belly heavy now, full-term and alive and constantly moving. Luca stood by the fire, talking softly to James on the phone. “It’s confirmed. Wyatt’s going federal.
