Chapter 3   Myron Hastings parked his patrol car, retrieved his gear from the back seat, and entered the sheriff's office though the back entrance. He took a quick look at the two cells along one wail. One was empty and number two was occupied by (kin Harper, the town drunk, sleeping off an early one. He was out like a light and Myron knew he would probably stay quiet all night. "Myron . . . Myron." It was Jessica Laird's voice from the front office. Lauren Laird was the mayor and Myron's boss. Lauren had appointed Myron sheriff two months previously over the town council's objection that twenty-four was too young for a sheriff even in a small town like Saderville.
