A Misunderstanding

Jane at first frowns at this message but when she looks towards the college premises she found Shirleen standing alone in the play ground looking at Jane. " What the hell? " She thinks. Another message appears, " thankyou for saving me. But remember we are not friends and will never be " it was sent by Shirleen. " Hey got you... What's up lazy head?" Someone shouted and scared Jane. " Gosh Lily you scared me. " Reverted Jane. "Haha, you get scared a lot sweety." Lily laughs. Ben and Joe had completed their class and met the girls. " Hey Jane what's up babe?? " Asks Joe. " Fine dear. Come let's go to the canteen. I have something good to tell you guys. " Said Jane. " Ya let's go. " Says Lily. And all four goes to canteen. There they sit and orders Cold coffee, french fries, veg burgers and salad. " So tell us baby what is it??" Says Ben. " My dad insisted my mom to go to my grandparents house and take me along with her and stay there for few days." She says slowly and excitingly. "Wow, what a great news babe. When are you leaving??" Asks Lily. " This Friday darling." Replies Joe. " Hey you knew it?? " Asks Ben. " Ya she told me today morning. " Joe replied. And all of them smiled at each other. But Jane could see a glimpse of jealousy and offend in Ben's eyes. But he remained silent.
Few moments later, Shirleen and Frederick comes along with their mini gang in the canteen. Shirleen and Jane glanced at each other and Jane could see a glimpse of smile at the corner of her lips. They passed them and sat on a seat away from them. Ben remained silent and often looked away from Jane which made her uncomfortable in front of her friends. Just then a message popped in, " come to the counter. Need to talk. " And it's from Shirleen. Jane looked around and found her already in the counter. " Excuse me guys. I'll get a coffee for me." She said. And headed towards the counter. "So, what you want to talk about??" Jane asked. " Nothing. Just wanted to ask you, how did you do that?? I mean how did you catch that piece of glass just like that?? I kept on wondering." Replied Shirleen. " To be true, I don't know myself. It just happened." Jane reverted. " I thought you must be knowing some magic. " Shirleen asked. " Nope to disappoint you. " Jane replied and taking her coffee she headed towards her seat.
When she reached there Jane found Joe and Lily sitting on their chair and there was no sign of Ben. " Where's Ben??" Asked Jane. " He suddenly got remind of some important work so he left and told us to tell you this as well. He will catch you later." Said Lily. Jane understood that he is offended with her and needed space to stay away from her. " So how you are planning to go to your grandparents home??" Asks Lily all excited. " Mom is all excited about it and she is gona go for shopping and buy many things before we head there." Jane said. " Oh ya, how is your mom? I saw her got hurt this morning." Joe asked. " What are you talking about? I didn't see anything. I was having breakfast with her and there was no cut or bruise at all." She replied angrily. Joe felt insulted as the people around them was looking at him and Jane. She spoke a bit high in anger which made them hear their conversation and an awkward situation had been created. Joe got up from his chair with his head down and picking up his belongings he left without saying a word.
As he left, Lily spoke up, " what's wrong with you?? Why are you acting so weird??" She asked. " Wrong with me? Go and ask him what's wrong with him. " Jane replied angrily and then left the canteen. Jane thought of going back home as there is no point of attending the class when her anger is boiling up that's gona burst any time.
While heading back home, she passed the main road and slipped into the narrow lane when she could hear a hushed voice brushing her ears vaguely, " hurry, your mom needs help."
