CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE Even though I knew it would do me no good, I put my hands on my head and closed my eyes. I waited for the Zero Armor to bring its fist down on my head and kill me. I hoped my death would be instant. I didn’t want to suffer in my last moments. Granted, I didn’t want to die at all, painlessly or no, but if I had to die, I hoped I wouldn’t be in too much pain, at least. But then I heard a weird snapping sound and, against my better judgment, I lowered my hands from my head and looked up at the Zero Armor.
