Chapter five
The encounter
The evening air was cool and chilly
Alya got down from the black limousine car Cade had sent to pick her up from her house. He had invited her to Linda's father's 60th birthday. Linda was the owner of the dress made by Alya.
Linda had asked Cade to help her out as she had contacted Alya's company earlier but Linda's orders were declined due to the fact that the company was closed for the year. Linda had begged Cade to help out since she knew no one will decline the order made by a family member of the Pecker family.
Alya was astonished by what she saw when she looked out of the car window. The party is taking place at the Blue House. The blue house is unlike any other hall in the town as only rich, influential, and powerful people in the town had access to it. President's inauguration, Senate, governor, and any other influential personnel mark out any event they want.
This is more like a dream to Alya. Standing in front of the blue house was something Alya would never thought of. She pinched herself to be sure that all thai was a dream but at least it was a reality. If anyone had told her that she would be standing in front of the blue house to attend a party she would have rolled her eyes and cursed the person.
Everything took a different turn the moment Cade had barged into her office without an appointment and now she is attending a party at the Blue House. She can not seem to remember the last time she had attended a party.
She stepped out of the car onto the red carpet that was amid don't the floor. She looked at both sides and saw tons of reporters with their cameras flashing at her. Thousands of questions were asked none of which she answered. She inhaled the chilly air deeply and exhaled with a sigh. She started walking towards the gigantic door leading inside the blue house. She heard the door open and looked up. She saw Cade walking out of of door and staring at her.
For those minutes, everything stands still. Her eyes locked and lost in searching for themselves. Alya could hear no noise. The noise made by the reporters did not affect Alya as she heard nothing. Alya scrutinizes Cade's dress.
He wore a dark blue-tan suit which instilled some self-confidence in him. He had changed his hairstyle and it looked perfect and finer than all the hairstyles Alya had seen on him. She notices there is always a kind of confidence in him whenever she sees him. The type of confidence that comes with money and power. Alya could hear his footsteps from away and his perfume filled her nostrils.
A pang of guilt ran down her spine as she saw Cade walking towards her. She is going to make him fall for her because of her revenge. She shook away the guilt she felt and walked towards him. Hand in hand, they entered the blue house.
Inside the blue house, the party had started. Cade walked her to a table and drinks were ordered.
"You look astonishingly beautiful tonight," Cade said and swept a quick look at Alya.
She wore an ironed, tailored dark silk tunic with its simple round neckline and bishop sleeves, worn over a straight cream silk skirt that was as crispy as she had just bought the clothes.
"Thanks," she replied and continued, " you are not bad yourself. You are good-looking, magnificent, elegant, and consummate."
"Ohh, stop flattering me," Cade said.
Linda came over to where Alya and Cade were.
"Hi Cade," she said kissing him on his both cheeks.
Linda was Cade's childhood friend. Both went to the same elementary, high school, and the same university. Their family were closed and this tightened their friendship.
"Alya meets Linda. The celebrant's daughter. Linda meets Alya, your dress makers," Cade introduced.
Linda is a tall young lady of about 6 feet 7, and slender. She had a willowy figure and legs that were long and shapely. Her thick, dark, and shiny hair was left without packing. She is too bony to be called pretty but she had a smooth forehead and high, slanting cheeks bones sharp as blaze gave her a thoroughbred.
"Nice meeting you," Linda said extending her hand for a handshake.
"It's nice meeting you too," Alya replied shaking Linda.
Cade excused himself from the ladies and went over to chat with some old friends.
"He is an old friend of mine," Linda said to Alya.
"Ohh," Alya replied with a smile and continued, "That's nice. Having an old friend is like a diamond. "
"Of course, he is the real diamond," Linda said and excused herself to welcome other visitors.
Cade returned and asked for a dance with Alya. She refused at first but after several persuasion, she agreed and most importantly it was her favorite song that had been played by the DJ.
Alya danced to her fulfillment. Throughout the night Cade's eyes were fixed on Alya's own. After Alya had exhausted all her energy on dancing she excused herself and went to sit sipping down her drink.
A young man of about the same age as Alya took a sit beside her.
"Hi," he said.
"Hi," Alya replied
"I am Carlos George," Carlos introduced.
Alya smiled," you are the man who came to my company without an appointment. "
"Wow, you remembered," he said.
Alya sipped her drink and passed it over to him. He seems familiar though, she can not place where she had seen him before. She was sure she had seen him somewhere before the encounter at her company.
As he picked up the drink, Alya saw a cobra tattoo on his hand. Her body shook as she remembered where she and seen him. He was the last surviving killer of her parents. Realization dawned on her. The words he had told Sarah to deliver to her were an actual threat.
"Do you remember me?" He asked.
