The Call

After work, they didn’t go straight to the restaurant. Freddy led Lizzy to the far end of the parking lot where the lights were weaker. The moment they got inside his car and closed the doors, he pulled her in for a deep, hungry kiss. Lizzy melted against him, fingers curling into his shirt as his hand slid up her thigh under her skirt. They only pulled apart when a pair of headlights swept across the lot. A few cars away, Carly stood frozen near her own vehicle, blinking hard. She stared at the familiar silhouette inside Freddy’s car. Lizzy? Carly let out a short, disbelieving laugh and rubbed her eyes. “I must be mistaken… I think I’m seeing things. Lizzy inside Freddy’s car? I must be drinking too much these days.” She shook her head and got into her car, but even as she drove out of the lot, she kept glancing at her rearview mirror. The image refused to leave her mind. Something about it felt wrong. She told herself it was nothing… yet the uneasy feeling stayed with her all the way home. Inside Freddy’s car, Lizzy and Freddy finally separated, breathing unevenly. He rested his forehead against hers for a moment before starting the engine. “Restaurant,” he said quietly. “Before I change my mind and take you somewhere private instead.” --- They sat across from each other in a quiet restaurant, low lights casting soft shadows across the table. The heat from the car still lingered between them, but the atmosphere had shifted into something more intimate. Lizzy pushed her food around more than she ate. Freddy watched her with that steady gaze that always made her feel exposed. “You’re quiet,” he said. She gave a small smile. “Just thinking how strange this is. Sitting here like a normal couple.” Freddy leaned back slightly. “We’re not very normal.” Lizzy hesitated, then spoke more honestly than she planned. “I never had a real family. I grew up bouncing between people who didn’t really want me. I got used to being alone.” Freddy’s expression softened. For a moment he just looked at her, then said quietly, “I’m an orphan too.” The silence that followed felt thick. Connected. Two people who understood what it meant to grow up without roots. Lizzy looked at him, and the attachment in her chest tightened. Before she could reply, Freddy’s phone buzzed hard against the table. He glanced at the screen. His jaw tightened. He answered. “Yes?” A low male voice came through clearly: “The hair for the DNA is missing.” Freddy went completely still. “What do you mean missing?” His voice had turned cold. “It’s gone. Someone took it. We’ve checked everything.” Freddy’s eyes darkened. “Find it. Now.” He ended the call without another word. Lizzy watched him carefully. The sudden change in him was impossible to miss. The softness from earlier had vanished, replaced by something sharp and unsettled. “Is everything okay?” she asked quietly. Freddy forced a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “Just work. Nothing important.” But Lizzy didn’t believe him. She had spent enough time reading his body to know when something was wrong. The tension in his shoulders, the coldness in his voice, the way he avoided her gaze for a second too long — all of it told her that the call was far more serious than he claimed. For the first time, she sensed that the man sitting across from her was carrying something much darker… and much more dangerous than she had realized. --- **Flashback – The Wedding** The reception was loud and crowded. Freddy stood at the edge of the hall, drink untouched, eyes scanning faces. He wasn’t there to celebrate. He was there for proof. A single strand of hair would have been enough for the DNA test. He had been gathering pieces for months — old records, photos, names that didn’t fit. This family held the truth about the parents who abandoned him. He had been so close. Later, he slipped into the restroom to clear his head. He didn’t expect company. The door opened and the bride walked in. Lizzy. Their eyes met. The air changed. What started as shocked silence turned into something neither of them planned. Minutes later, she was on her knees in her wedding dress, lips wrapped around his c**k, sucking him deep while the party continued outside. Freddy left the wedding with less proof than he wanted… But with the memory of the bride’s mouth still fresh.
