CHAPTER FOUR
NITA WAS GLAD SHE HAD the Restaurant Conference at the ranch over the weekend. Having Max show up was about the worst thing that could have happened. With her having lied to Peyton, Max had all the power and he knew it.
He wouldn’t hesitate to use it against her to get what he wanted. Nita needed time to figure out how to deal with him. She knew one thing for sure, she wasn’t going to just let him waltz in and screw up her life again.
She was done with that business.
“Good morning.”
Nita smiled up at her new, favorite guest. “Good morning, Mr. Honeybun.”
“Heathcliffe, please.” He indicated the chair across from her. “May I?” His cell phone rang and he turned it off without looking at it.
Nita was curious but didn’t feel it was her business to pry.
