Introduction

November 2020

The final exams just ended at some primary school and a teenange boys is on the phone with his father asking whether he can visit him for the December holidays as he just completed writing his exams for the year and just waiting for a report card that could prove to be his gateway from primary school as he is doing his seventh grade.

"Dad, you probably know that the exams just ended and I was hoping I could visit you for the festive season and probably just to distress from all the books I read from the beginning of the year till today."said Alaric.

"You don't have to ask, I'll come and pick you up as soon as I get the chance to" his dad responded.

Alaric is a nerd, book lover and writer who's an aspiring surgeon and is from a financially stable family that tries it's best to give him anything that he wants but then they can't because the money that they have, has to be spend around the house so for him to get something he must atleast speaks upfront so that they can make some adjustments in their monthly budget. Apart from all that Alaric is an introvert and prefers being alone at most times and he only has friends at his school, but in his residential area he has no friends at all he likes it like that cause he doesn't really like people.He spends time watching wrestling, reading, and writing books. Alot of people find him weird because he is not leaving as per the expectations of a lot of people, the expectations that a Teen should live per.

Alaric is an exceptional student and in his entire primary school duration, he has been at every School Prize Giving ceremony and he either gets an award for mathematics or he is the top achiever for his grade. He has an opposition whom he shares this achievement with, everyone in the school know that if Alaric is not the top achiever then that girl will be the top achiever, they're both each other's competition and there's not other competitor in their grade , from grade 1.

2020 hasn't been great year for anyone and this is due to the ongoing pandemic that has killed millions and millions of people from all walks of life. The weak sadly passed away and the strong ones managed to survive It, there have been a national lockdown, a national rule for the wearing of face masks and alot of other safety precaution rules that all people throughout the world had to follow.

This year becomes the pain in Alaric's a*s as the school decides that due to the pandemic, there will not be an annual price giving ceremony and Alaric was looking forward to adding trophies to his trophy cabinet.To just console the learners the school decided to tell the learners the names of people who were supposed to be invited to the ceremony and this irritates Alaric even worse as he realise that he was supposed to be the top achiever and this would've made him just one top achiever less than his opposition as she had been a top achiever for 4times while Alaric was a top achiever for 2times, this would've made Alaric a top achiever for the third time and because he was in seventh grade he was also going to be the DUX learner which means he was going to be in tie with his opposition at 4 on 4.

As soon as Alaric gets his report card that says he is finally done with primary school, he tells his father who later comes to pick him to visit the city for the first time in his life.
