The call of the adhan woke Salma from her nightmarish slumber. The voice sounded different, unlike the normal voice she was so used to hearing ever since she was a little girl. Slowly, her eyelids fluttered open, squinting at the bright light. She was sprawled on the cold floor of her bathroom, her head resting against the base of the washbasin. Her neck was twisted at a very odd angle, making a sharp pain burst through her as she twisted her bones into place. The numbness in her head was increasing as she dragged her frail frame up with the little energy she still had left on her. Craning her neck, she turned towards the small window above the water closet. The starry night sky was beginning to fade, giving way to a purple and orange tint as the sun prepared to begin it's westward journe
