Leaving Liverpool that morning, Tessie glanced overhead, seeing the dark clouds had followed them over the Irish Sea. Smoothing her navy travelling coat and twisting the leather wristband peeking from her sleeve, Tessie exhaled. The thunder mirrored the foreboding in her belly.
"There's a storm coming," she said, leaning forward in their small first class cabin on the ferry.
"Let's hope we make it to the hotel before it pours." Ruby crowded her face close to Tessie's to scan the horizon.
