Chapter 6 The mass of tussling bodies at the gates of the West India Docks greeted Finn as they did every morning, and the sound might still have been deafening if his mind hadn’t been on Tessie. He had marched his way from the Nichol, barely remembering a moment as he wove through the busy streets and scoffed down a handful of oatcakes he’d bought warm from an old woman’s basket.
