XVI. ‘Back Fired’

Previously on ‘Tale of the Demon Hero’: Harue and Eito had an argument in the ‘Central Airport’ while The Hashimoto Family went out to visit Ms. Akari in her cell room. Theo told Rai about the half mask which Hikaru lost; Rai and ‘Ryo’ went out the ‘Orphans’ Shelter’ to meet the other three witnesses who saw the 10 mercenaries that murdered her parents. Three out of the five witnesses were missing that afternoon.

Back in Shouta’s Apartment…

Shouta, Maki and Ms. Aoi were inside the living area when a surprise guest arrived, standing on the railings in the balcony, outside their shared apartment.

Inside the apartment…

“Naoki?! Welcome back. H-How did you get up there?” Ms. Aoi said as she opened the sliding door and went out to the balcony.

“I’m back. I’m sorry I got late. I went back inside the supermarket to find you but you are not in there.” Naoki said as he carefully jumped off the railings and hugged Aoi.

“Well, you should’ve not leave her like that. I saw Ms. Aoi carrying these bags outside the supermarket and invited her in here.” Shouta said as he lazily lied down on the floor, picking his nose.

“Your highness! Stop that. That’s disgraceful.” Maki said as he threw a pillow onto Shouta’s head.

“Oh? Is that so? Thank you very much for helping my wife, your highness.” Naoki said as he bows down in front of Maki and Shouta.

“Your welcome. You should take extra care of Ms. Aoi since she’s eating for two right now.” Shouta said as he grabbed the pillow and hugged it.

“Eating for two? Wait! Eh? H-How did you knew that?” Maki exclaimed as he almost dropped the teaspoons on the floor and asked Shouta.

“Earlier, Mr. Boss was complaining to me that he ran out of watermelons after Naoki bought all of his last remaining stocks. Interesting fact is that watermelons are very in demand in this world during summer months. Now, he asked me to find another supplier for that fruit but I ditched him and ran to the supermarket.” Shouta said as he explained and stretched out his arms up.

“Uh? So, it is my fault. I only obliged to Aoi’s weird requests. She has a lot of different cravings and stuff…Ow-Ouch! Aoi?” Naoki said as he blushed.

Ms. Aoi got flustered and suddenly punched Naoki on his abdomen.

“You don’t have to say that. Anyway, how did you find me?” Ms. Aoi said as she blushed and asked Naoki.

“Uh? I followed that guy.” Naoki said as he, Ms. Aoi, Shouta and Maki looked at the unknown creature standing on the top of the railings, observing all of them.

The unknown creature is made of 99% water and 1% ice coving his shaky, blobby body. Has two short circular arms and has no face.

“Is that one of Reika’s ‘Water Puppets’?” Maki said as he ran outside to the balcony.

“That thing was following me? What does it what to me?” Ms. Aoi said as she got scared and hid behind Naoki.

“Don’t worry. I will not let it come near you.” Naoki said as Ms. Aoi nodded.

“Come inside. That thing will eventually get bored observing us and leave.” Shouta said as he got up and sat on the floor.

Maki lead Ms. Aoi and Naoki back inside the apartment and closed the sliding door; the unknown creature suddenly waved back its two arms at Shouta and then jumped off the balcony.

“Why was that ‘Water Puppet’ following you, Ms. Aoi?” Maki said as he asked Ms. Aoi.

“Uh! I-I don’t know either. Hehehe – Eh? Naoki?” Ms. Aoi said as she sat down on the sofa beside Naoki.

Naoki intertwined his right hand with hers.

“Please tell me the truth. I will listen to you.” Naoki seriously said as he blushed.

“Uh? Okay. The truth is I came in here to ask Mr. Shouta for help.” Ms. Aoi said as she tells the truth to Naoki.

“I knew it! But why did you not tell me earlier?” Naoki exclaimed and asked Ms. Aoi.

“Um? I just thought that you will get angry if I told you the truth.” Ms. Aoi sadly said as Naoki suddenly hugged her.

“No! I will not. Thank you for telling me.” Naoki said as he smiled, making Ms. Aoi giggled.

“Wow. What a heart-warming scene. Now, if this is about the unknown location of the ‘Rusty Gate’, you will have to give me a prize.” Shouta said as he squished the pillow and looked at Naoki.

“Yes. Naomi and the others found the exact location of the ‘Rusty Gate´ in this town.” Naoki seriously said as Maki spits out his tea.

“W-What? Naomi was the one who found it? Wait! Well, that makes sense since she’s an ‘Aethyrian’ like me.” Maki said as he grabbed a tissue sheet and clean the center table.

“No. Keisuke was the one who found it and the bad news is they all working for Hiiro.” Naoki said as he sighed and scratched his head.

“That’s indeed bad news. According to my mother’s story, to avoid the ‘Collision Prophecy’ to be fulfilled, the ‘Creator’ had to separate the ‘Key’ to the ‘Rusty Gate’ so that no one will ever find them. The ‘Key’ was left hidden back in the Kingdom while the ‘Gate ‘is somewhere kept hidden in this world.” Shouta said as he tells everyone.

“But, come to think of it, if the ‘Key’ – I mean ‘Princess’ Harue is back in the Kingdom how would she get down in here and find the ‘Gate’?” Ms. Aoi said as she asked Shouta.

“By being exiled as well. Hiiro’s probably planning to force exile her little sister down here and have her find the ‘Gate’ herself while he’s waiting back in the Kingdom.” Maki said as he casually sips his tea.

“Knowing Hiiro, he’s willing to do anything to make his ambitions come true. Six months ago, he stole the ‘Book of Prophecies’ from me and if he somehow finds the ‘Three Factors’, millions will be perished.” Shouta said as he grabbed and ate a slice of custard pie.

“Only his ambitions huh? From what I knew, he’s not the only one who had that ambition.” Maki said as he teased Shouta.

“Shut up, Maki! That was six months ago. Forget it.” Shouta seriously said as he got pissed off to Maki.

“Okay. Please calm down. Please take this slice of custard pie as my apology.” Maki cheerfully said as he apologized to Shouta.

“So, what are we going to do?” Ms. Aoi said as she asked everyone.

“It was the ‘Aloof Spy’ who found the ‘Gate’- Um? Then, for plan A. I suggest that we could convince him to join with us.” Maki said as he suggested to Shouta.

“Convince him? Hahaha! That’s impossible. That guys only listens to Hiiro and Naomi.” Shouta said as he laughed out.

“Then, I’ll try to convince him.” Naoki said as he looked at Shouta.

“Eh? So, your joining with us – Wait! Are we forming an alliance right now?” Shouta said as he grabbed the second slice of custard pie and started eating it.

“Your highness, please use the forks I provided for us.” Maki said as he reminded Shouta.

“Alright! Fine. I’ll use it so stop nagging at me.” Shouta said as he put the pie back on its plate and grabbed the silver fork.

“What if we failed to convince Mr. Keisuke?” Aoi said as she asked Naoki.

“If that happened, come back in here and please tell us.” Shouta said as he eats his custard pie.

“Come back huh? Welcome back, Shouta.” Mr. Sir Boss said as he suddenly appeared behind Shouta.

Everyone flinched; Shouta accidentally splits out his pie while Maki almost got choked up. Naoki shyly looked away from him while Ms. Aoi wondered what happened.

“Boss! How did you get in here? And you should’ve knocked first.” Shouta said as he stood up and asked Mr. Sir Boss.

“I own this apartment building so I have to keep a spare key for each room. Where the hell have you been?” Mr. Sir Boss said as he showed the spare keys and asked Shouta.

“I went to the supermarket to buy these basic necessities. You know what? I discovered something new today. They had a sa-le on – Ow!” Shouta said as he tried to explain.

Mr. Sir Boss suddenly pinched Shouta’s cheeks.

“So, you went shopping during work hours. You ditched me while I attend the other customers. Not to mention what Mr. Naoki and his g**g members just did earlier.” Mr. Sir Boss said as he stared at Naoki.

“Uh?! I’m really sorry! I’ll make sure that it would not happen again.” Naoki said as he stood up and apologized to Mr. Sir Boss.

“Um? What happened?” Ms. Aoi said as she asked Naoki.

“Ah!? Uh? You see, I asked the g**g to help me find you and we ended up in here. I followed that ‘Water Puppet’ up here and accidentally stepped and smashed the watermelons displayed outside the store.” Naoki said as he explained what happened.

“When I went out, I saw the last watermelons smashed on the ground. I’m sorry but I’ll have you pay for that.” Mr. Sir Boss said as he looked at Naoki who nodded.

“Could you please stop pinching my cheeks?” Shouta said as he struggled to push Mr. Sir Boss away from him.

“Now, You’re back I’ll have you and Mr. Naoki pick up the watermelons that I’ve ordered in this address. Maki! Where are you going? You still owe me your two-month rent.” Mr. Sir Boss as he saw Maki silently crawling back to the kitchen.

Maki flinched as he sighed.

“Ah, yes! I almost forgot that. Please wait in here.” Maki said as he stood up and ran into his room.

“I’m really sorry about what my husband did to your watermelons. In exchange, please allow me to work as an assistant in your store.” Ms. Aoi said as she apologized to Mr. Sir Boss.

“No need to apologize, Ms. Aoi. About that – Hm? I think I can hire a cute assistant like you in my store.” Mr. Sir Boss said as Ms. Aoi blushed.

“Cute? Eh? Thank you very much.” Ms. Aoi cheerfully said as Naoki stared at her.

“Hey – Uh? With all due respect, please stop flirting with my wife.” Naoki said as he pouted and looked at Mr. Sir Boss.

“Flirting? I’m too old for that. Now, here’s the truck’s key and go this address.” Mr. Sir Boss said as he gave the key to Naoki.

“I’m driving. Let’s go.” Shouta said as he seized the trunk’s key and stomped away.

“Hey – I’ll be back. This is time, wait for me okay?” Naoki said as he kissed Ms. Aoi’s forehead.

“Um? Okay. Please be careful.” Ms. Aoi cheerfully said as Naoki smiled.

Naoki ran out of the room and was surprised to see Shouta waiting for him outside their apartment.

“I’m back. Here’s the payment for the rent.” Maki sadly said as he gave a short envelope to Mr. Sir Boss.

“Thank you very much. I’m going to take that.” Mr. Sir Boss cheerfully said as he grabbed the envelope and waved it in front of Maki.

“You’re mean. There goes my six-months savings disappeared just like that. Shouta, you’ll have to pay your share as well – Uh? Where is he?” Maki said as he cried on the floor and wondered.

“Shouta and Naoki just left to pick up something for me and Shouta’s driving so they will back in a few hours.” Mr. Sir Boss said as he tells Maki who flinched.

“Shouta’s driving skills are the worst! You should’ve asked Naoki to drive instead.” Maki said as he got angry at Mr. Sir Boss.

“Oh, is that so? Speaking of Shouta, since he’s not here, can you be my assistant for the meantime?” Mr. Sir Boss said as he walked away.

“No. I refuse. I still have a lot of essays to read from my students.” Maki said as he sat down on the floor and yawned.

“Essays? Oh! Now, I remember you’re working as a part-time, high school teacher.” Ms. Aoi said as she down on the right sofa.

“Uh? Okay. If you help me today, You’ll only pay half of the rent for this room starting this month.” Mr. Sir Boss said as he tried to convince Maki.

“Half? Of course! I would gladly assist you for today.” Maki cheerfully said as he smiled at Mr. Sir Boss.

“You’re really a simpleton!” Mr. Sir Boss said as he got pissed off to Maki, making Ms. Aoi giggled.

Meanwhile in ‘Fireiya’

Behind the JT’s Diner…

Hikaru was searching for the black mask inside the garbage cans; The other ‘Fireiyans’ passing who saw him chuckled as he tosses out each garbage can.

“Um? Sir Hikaru? What are you doing?” Mr. ‘Fireiyan’ #1 said as he approached and asked Hikaru.

“I knew it! Theo had it before and somehow my instincts tell me that he threw it outside their Diner. Well, that’s one way to destroy an evidence, right? I should’ve insisted him to tell the truth. Uh? It’s not in here.” Hikaru said as he sighed and closed the last garbage can.

“In there? Sir, are you searching for a lost item?” Mr. ‘Fireiyan’ #1 said as he asked Hikaru.

“Ah, yes! I was searching for my black mask that I accidentally lost during the ‘Fireiyan Festival’.” Hikaru said as he scratched his head.

“Oh, is that so? Then, would you like to come visit my shop? I’m sure I probably found it somewhere else.” Mr. ‘Fireiyan’ #1 said as he tells Hikaru.

“Shop?” Hikaru said as he wondered and followed Mr. ‘Fireiyan’ #1.

Few minutes later…

Hikaru arrived inside Mr. ‘Fireiyan’ #1’s Shop; Hikaru wandered around the shop.

“So, you collect vintage things. Impressive.” Hikaru said as he looked at Mr. ‘Fireiyan’ #1.

“Thank you very much, Sir Hikaru. I’m Mark, a vintage collector. My shop houses different kinds of stamps, wax, post cards, maps, masks and etc. Here’s the odd mask that I’ve found outside the Town Hall yesterday.” Mr. Mark said as he opened his glass shelf and took out a half-worn, black mask.

Hikaru instantly recognized his mask and seized it away from Mr. Mark.

“This is it! You found it. Thank you very much.” The overjoyed Hikaru said as he hugged Mr. Mark.

“That’s your mask? Uh? You’re welcome I guess.” Mr. Mark said as he wondered and pat Hikaru’s back.

“I wonder what is this doing outside the Town Hall.” Hikaru said as he wondered and examined the half.

“My theory goes like this: Somebody intentionally cut your mask into half. That person probably has the other half of your mask.” Mr. Mark said as he closed the glass shelf.

“Hm? Next time, I’ll make Theo confess for sure.” Hikaru said as he got pissed off.

“Um? As I looked at it, that mask seems familiar to me. Ah, yes! It was the same mask worn by those seven mercenaries who kidn*pped Ms. Janice’s son.” Mr. Mark said as he locked the glass shelf.

“Oh? You think so? If I were somehow one of those mercenaries, what would you do?” Hikaru seriously said as he asked Mr. Mark.

Hikaru calmly drew out his Long Sword and showed it to Mr. Mark.

“If you were – Wait! Don’t tell me…Yes! The new ‘Imperial Hero’ saved the entire ‘Village’!” Mr. Mark exclaimed as he hugged Hikaru.

“Eh?! What?” Hikaru said as he shouted out and wondered.

“I must tell this good news to my friends. Please wait in here. I’ll be back, Sir Hikaru.” The overjoyed Mr. Mark said as he ran out of his shop.

“Hey – Wait! Me as your ‘Imperial Hero’? Hahaha! What an unexpected turn of events! I didn’t expect that he would be glad to hear that. ‘No.12’? What kind of alias was that? Yes! I am one of the 13 mercenaries who m******e Mrs. Akimura. She kept up a good fight and found a way to break my Father’s iron spear into two. Thankfully, someone aimed a poisoned arrow to her nape and she immediately fell on the ground. Hahaha!” Hikaru said as he whispered to himself.

“We’re back, Sir Hikaru!” Mr. Mark said as he went back inside his shop, followed by his 8 fellow Shop owners.

“Is it really true that you saved us from that dreadful ‘Witch’?” Ms. Shop Owner #1 said as she asked Hikaru.

“Yes! My real Target was that old man who taunted me in front of Rai but that’s just fine because he’s already dead anyway. Hahaha!” Hikaru said as he laughed out.

“See? After he saved the ambushed train from the ‘White Skeletons’, the ‘Iytherian Reps’ from the ‘Yellow Queen’, and us from the curse of that dreadful ‘Witch’, Sir Hikaru is indeed our new ‘Imperial Hero’.” The overjoyed Mr. Mark said as he looked at Hikaru.

“Now, the rumors about that ‘Witch’ will be gone and tourists can now visit back in our ‘Village’. The ‘Crafting District’ is back on business in no time. Thank you for saving our ‘Village’, young man.” Mr. Shop Owner #2 said as he pats Hikaru’s right shoulder.

“Just like his father. All hail the new ‘Imperial Hero’! All hail the new ‘Imperial Hero’!” Mr. Mark said as he and the others cheered up for Hikaru.

“Y-Yes. I am your new ‘Imperial Hero’! Hahaha!” Hikaru said as he laughs manically.

“Shouldn’t we celebrating this joyous occasion? Follow me to my bar and let’s party.” Ms. Shop Owner #1 said she and the others went out of the shop, followed by Hikaru.

Hikaru, Mr. Mark and his delusional friends went to the bar, few blocks away from the JT’s Diner.

Two Hours Later

Inside the Bar

In a Private Room…

Ms. Shop Owner AKA Ms. Bar Owner prepared a private room for their mini- celebratory ‘victory’ party. On the center sofa, Hikaru was surrounded by eight entertainers while drinking his second bottle of beer.

“Amazing! So, Mister Hikaru saved us from that ‘Witch’s Curse’.” Ms. Entertainer #1 said as she straddles on the top of Hikaru’s legs and put her arms around his neck.

“Yes! I somehow did? But my fellow mercenaries helped me as well so I cannot take credit for everything.” The tipsy Hikaru said as he drank his beer.

“Then, paying customers will come back and visit us again. This is so exciting.” Ms. Entertainer #1 said as she exclaimed.

“Am I not a customer? That’s just mean.” Hikaru said as he pouted, making the entertainers giggled.

“Hey, everyone. That’s not fair. Sir Hikaru came in here to relax as well.” Mr. Mark said as

“Then, let me entertain you.” Ms. Entertainer #1 said as she started kissing Hikaru’s cheeks.

Hikaru got pissed off and forcefully pushed Ms. Entertainer away from him.

“What?! Is there something wrong, Sir Hikaru?” Ms. Bar Owner said as she asked Hikaru.

“My apologies, everyone. I need to leave. The last train…will be arriving soon.” Hikaru said as he hiccupped while walking out of the private room.

“Leave? You’re leaving?” Mr. Mark said as he asked Hikaru.

“I need…to – Mr. Sai asked us to come with them back in the ‘Main Island’ for the ‘Candidates’ Deliberation’. Bye.” The tipsy Hikaru said as he went out of the private room and closed the door.

In ‘Fireiya’s Sub-Train Station’

Passengers’ Waiting Area…

Rai and ‘Ryo’ were waiting for Hikaru to come in the Passengers’ Waiting Area.

“Uh? I wonder what Hikaru took so long.” Rai said as she looked around, searching for Hikaru.

“Mr. ‘Village Chief’ asked us to wait for that stupid guy in here but this is ridiculous. We’re standing in here for two hours. Where the hell is he?” ‘Ryo’ said as he got angry and shouted out.

“I think he got lost. Let’s go back to the ‘Crafting District’ to find him.” Rai said as she suggested ran away.

But ‘Ryo’ suddenly grabbed her right arm and stopped her.

“Wait! Uh? About the ‘Accord’ – I mean the deal with us inside that ‘Cave’, I was just wondering why did you agreed to join with us?” ‘Ryo’ seriously said as he asked Rai.

“Uh? I only agreed because they asked specifically for my help. Even though I’m just a novice ‘Red Blacksmith’, I’m glad that they asked me to help them forge their weapons that they are going to use to overthrow the Kingdom.” Rai cheerfully said as he tells ‘Ryo’.

“Eh? Eh!? That was your interpretation?! Uh? Well, I’m pretty sure even the readers don’t understand it as well but your judgment shall prevail soon.” ‘Ryo’ said as she smiled and tousled Rai’s hair.

“My judgment huh? Anyway, let’s find Hikaru – There you are, Hikaru!” Rai said as she turned around and saw Hikaru swaying as walks inside the Waiting area.

“Rai? Hi! I’m back. Waiting me, thank you.” The tipsy Hikaru said as he approached Rai.

“What’s that smell? Wait! Are you drunk? And is that a kiss mark on your right cheek?” Rai said as she simultaneously asked Hikaru some questions.

Hikaru got annoyed and suddenly pushed her away; ‘Ryo’ caught her before she fell on the floor.

“Please stand back. Let me handle this.” ‘Ryo’ said as Rai nodded.

“You! Damn stranger who claims to saved Rai before! I despise you so stay away from her.” Hikaru said as he pushed ‘Ryo’ away.

“I knew it. You’re jealous.” ‘Ryo’ said as he casually dusted off his coat.

“Huh!? Me? Jealous? No way. Ms. Janice said that he saw you sleeping inside Rai’s bedroom. Why?” Hikaru said as he asked ‘Ryo’.

“Ms. Janice did what? No! Hikaru you don’t understand, we – Eh?” Rai said as she approached Hikaru but ‘Ryo’ stopped her.

“Yeah. After reading her horrible story, I saw her having a nightmare and started crying so I decided to slept beside her that night. Nothing suspicious happened.” ‘Ryo’ said as he explained to Hikaru and Rai.

“Oh? Wait! Did you just say ‘horrible’? After you insisted editing it, you still found it ‘horrible’?!” Rai said as she got pissed off and asked ‘Ryo’.

“Uh? Yes. I’m being honest – and I also slept beside you because you’re warm just like my Mother.” ‘Ryo’ said as he blushed and covered his face with his right hand.

“Me? Warm?! Do I look like a blanket to you?” Rai said as she tries not to get angry with ‘Ryo’.

“Oh? I see. Then, Rai, is he really saying the truth?” Hikaru said as he interrupted their conversation.

“Yes! He’s telling the truth. It’s okay if you don’t believe in us.” Rai said as she seriously looked at Hikaru.

“Um? Then, my apologies. It was a misunderstanding after all.” Hikaru said as he apologized to ‘Ryo’.

“No problem. Anyway, since you’re now here let’s go back to the – Eh? Is there something wrong, Rai?” ‘Ryo’ said as he saw Rai smiling and asked her.

“Wait! Aren’t you going to help me?” Hikaru said as he asked Rai as well.

“Don’t you dare touch me and ask that damn b***h who gave you that kiss mark.” Rai said as she smiled and stomped away from ‘Ryo’ and Hikaru.

“Eh? Now, you’re the one being jealous? That’s not fair. Hey, Rai! Wait up.” Hikaru said as he panicked and ran away, chasing Rai.

“Seriously, Ms. Author? You want me to witness this cliché love story? Uh! Hey! Please for me.” ‘Ryo’ said as he sighed and ran away, chasing Rai and ‘Ryo.’

Platform #5…

The ‘Fireiyan Reps’, Ms. Yua, Mikan, Ms. Georgina and Mr. Sean were all waiting inside the Platform #5.

“The train is arriving in here soon. Where are they?” Mr. Sai said as he got bored and crossed his arms.

“I wonder what was taking them so long.” Mrs. Mai said as she wondered.

“Don’t worry, big sister. The train’s arriving soon.” Mikan said as she was standing beside Mr. Sean.

Mr. Sean was carrying Ms. Akari onto his back.

“Thank you, Mikan. I’m sorry for making you worry – Ow-ouch.” Ms. Akari said as she endures the pain from her ‘Ruins’.

“Don’t worry, little highness. Your big sister will be healed soon.” Ms. Sean said as he tousled Mikan’s hair.

“Sir Physician, I must carry Ms. Akari myself, I’m her female butler – Eh?” Ms. Georgina said as she tried to convince Mr. Sean.

“No. Thank you. I cannot allow you to carry her. You’re a lady as well so it’s a gentleman’s job to do this.” Mr. Sean cheerfully said, making Ms. Georgina and Mrs. Yua blushed.

“I’m sorry for the delay. We’re back, everyone.” Rai said as she, ‘Ryo’ and Hikaru arrived at Platform #5.

Hikaru was clinging on ‘Ryo’s shoulder as he tried to walk on his own.

“Hikaru? My son, what happened to you?” Mrs. Yua said as she got worried to Hikaru and approached him.

“Mother? What are you doing in here?” The tipsy Hikaru said as he walked towards his mother.

But he accidentally slipped and Ms. Georgina caught him before he fell on the floor.

“That smell? Master Hikaru, are you drunk?” Ms. Georgina said as she asked Hikaru.

“Yes! We’re celebrating our victory against her – Ow-Ouch! My head hurts.” Hikaru said as Mr. Sai sighed and approached him.

“Come with me. You cannot just leave wearing those shabby clothes. You! Grab his suitcase and follow me to the men’s restroom.” Mr. Sai said as he gently carried Hikaru onto his back and ordered ‘Ryo’.

“Wait! Me? Are you asking me?” ‘Ryo’ said as he looked around and wondered.

“Yes! Who else? Mr. Sean was already carrying Ms. Akari and Rai is a lady as well so it’s a gentleman’s job to do this.” Mr. Sai shyly said, making everyone blushed.

Ms. Georgina grabbed Hikaru’s suit case and gave it ‘Ryo’.

“Here’s Master Hikaru’s suitcase. I’ve prepared extra shirts inside this.” Ms. Georgina said as she tells ‘Ryo’.

“Lucky is not the correct word; I guess, but he’s indeed a gentleman which is why I like him.” Mrs. Mai said as she blushed and sighed.

“He’s your husband’s friend as well. I’m sure he’s laughing how stupid his friend is somewhere else. Uh? I’m sorry I didn’t mean to mention your deceased husband.” Mrs. Mai sadly said as she apologized to Mrs. Yua.

“No. Not at all. I also agree with that statement. I – I mean, my children and I miss him as well but I know that he’s watching us from up there.” Mrs. Yua cheerfully said as she tells Mrs. Mai.

“Then, let me tell you a secret.” Mrs. Mai softly said as she whispered to Mrs. Yua.

“A secret? I-I’m not good at keeping secrets.” Mrs. Yua softly said as she scratched her head.

“It was about the mercenary who killed your husband six months ago.” Mrs. Mai softly said as she tells Mrs. Yua.

“I’m really sorry about this, your highness.” Mrs. Yua said as she apologized to Mrs. Mai.

Mrs. Mai smiled as she and Mikan waved back to her mother and walked away.

Rai looked at Mikan and Mrs. Mai as they left and giggled afterwards.

“I cannot believe that you are the ‘Princess’ ‘Chosen Candidate’. How did that happen?” Mrs. Yua said as she got frustrated and asked Rai.

“Uh? I do not exactly know, your highness. But I am glad that she chose me.” Rai cheerfully said, making Mrs. Yua flinched.

“Glad? You must be mistaken or probably that was a prank. Anyway, my son deserves to become the next ‘Imperial Ruler’ than you.” Mrs. Yua boastfully said as she tells Rai.

“Ah, yes! Your son deserves it huh? I’m not really sure about that. Am I right, Ms. Author?” Rai said as she giggled.

“Damn you! How dare you insult my son?” Mrs. Yua said as she shouted back at Rai.

The last train arrived beside them and stopped in the Platform; Passengers from the ‘Main Island’ carefully went out of the five train wagons.

“Ah! Your highness, look! Mr. Sai and the others are back.” Mr. Sean said as he saw Mr. Sean, Hikaru and ‘Ryo’ walking towards them.

Few minutes later, Mrs. Mai and Mikan also went out of the restroom; Mikan ran towards her mother and hugged her.

Mr. Sai, Mrs. Mai, ‘Ryo’ and Rai, Mr. Sean along with Ms. Akari walked away and went inside the 3rd train wagon.

“Mother, I’m sorry for what happened earlier.” Hikaru shyly said as he apologized to her mother.

“Hikaru, listen. Do your best to impress the ‘Council’ so that they can – I mean would choose you as the next ‘Imperial Ruler’.” Mrs. Yua said as she hugged Hikaru.

“Mother? I – Don’t worry. Everything will be fine. I promise.” Hikaru cheerfully said as he tousled Mrs. Yua’s hair.

“That’s my son. Now, get inside.” Mrs. Yua said as Mikan ran and hid behind her.

“Big brother, bye-bye.” Mikan said as she raised her right hand and waved back at Hikaru.

“This is the first time Mikan called me as her big brother. I’m so happy.” Hikaru said as he cried, blocking the entrance door.

The ‘Fireiyan Reps.’ with Mr. Sean, ‘Ryo’ and the two ‘Fireiyan Candidates’, ‘Wathyrian Reps.’ and Mr. Anderson arrived outside the Head Quarters and were all welcomed by the ‘Aethyrian Reps.’, Ms. Julie, Ms. Annie and Mr. Ciyan.

“Uh? Big brother? Welcome back! Is that Ms. Akari? Ms. Akari!” Mr. Ciyan said as he immediately recognized his older brother and approached him.

“Ah, yes! I’m back and I – I mean Ms. Akari need your help.” Mr. Sean said as he carefully put Ms. Akari down on the floor.

“Ms. Akari!? What happened? Please wake up!” Mr. Akito said as he ran and approached Mr. Sean as well.

“Wait! What are these -’Ruins’? What happened to her?” Mr. Ciyan said as he examined Ms. Akari’s condition.

“A poisoned dagger hit her. Uh? Sir Hikaru, can you show us that dagger please?” Mr. Sean said as he asked Hikaru.

“Ah, yes. Here it is.” Hikaru said as he snapped out and took out the poisoned dagger.

Hikaru gave it to Mr. Ciyan.

“Can you two snap out of it? It has been three days since you last talk to each other.” ‘Ryo’ said as he got angry and yelled at Hikaru and ‘Ryo’.

“Oh, I’m trying to apologize to her but she’s still ignoring me.” Hikaru said as he pouted and crossed his arms.

“So, this is the Main court room huh? It’s huge and dusty. I didn’t hear anything. I do not know this ” Rai said as she continues to ignore Hikaru.

“You two are really immature – Eh?” ‘Ryo’ said as Ms. Iysa approached him and slightly hit his head with her wooden staff.

“Please lower down your voice while inside the court room.” Ms. Iysa said as he reminded ‘Ryo’ and the others.

“My apologies, your highness.” ‘Ryo’ said as he ran away and stood up beside Rai.

“Eh? The other two ‘Chosen Candidates’ are here. Welcome back, your highnesses. Eito’s not here to welcome you because I asked him to get Ms. Mayumi as well back in her apartment.” Ms. Iysa said as she greeted Rai and Hikaru.

“Good morning, your highness.” Hikaru and Rai said as they both greeted Ms. Iysa.

“Eh? Mr. Hamasaki is not here?” Ms. Iysa said as he wondered and looked at Mr. Jiro.

“Ah, yes! About that, I’ve sent a letter to the Hamasaki family; I requested Kazuki to come with us back in here but his little brother, Kenji, went to our town hall instead and gave this apology letter. Kazuki’s seem busy with his mysterious part time job.” Mrs. Aya said as she took out an envelope sealed with a navy-blue colored wax.

“Your highness, we must immediately bring Ms. Akari in the Main Infirmary room.” Mr. Ciyan said as he looked at Ms. Iysa.

“Then, leave. Bring these children and Ms. Julie with you.” Ms. Iysa said as she smiled and instructed Mr. Ciyan.

“Yes, your highness. You three, come with us.” Ms. Julie said as pushed Rai, ‘Ryo’ and Hikaru away.

“You go and lead us the way going to the Main Infirmary room and I’ll carry Ms. Akari.” Mr. Sean said as he instructed his little brother.

“Uh? Alright! Follow me.” Mr. Ciyan said as he stood up and ran out of the court room.

“Hey – you heard him, let’s follow him.” Mr. Akito said as she dragged Rai away.

“Uh? Eh? Why only me?” Rai said as she ran away, followed by ‘Ryo’ and Hikaru.

“Yo! We’re back.” Mr. Sai said as he saw Ms. Iysa and Mr. Ryu waiting for them in the front yard.

“Welcome back, everyone.” Ms. Iysa said as she welcomed Mr. Sai and the others.

“Wait! Mr. Anderson is here too. Welcome back to the ‘Main Island’, sir.” Mr. Ryu said as he welcomed Mr. Anderson.

“Indeed! I’m back in this boring and dull ‘Island’ unlike when we’re traveling on the vast and dangerous ocean full of adventures and having the chance to encounter unknown sea creatures.” Mr. Anderson cheerfully said as he pats Mr. Ryu’s right shoulder.

“Anyway, what are you doing in here Mr. Anderson?” Mrs. Mai said as asked Mr. Anderson.

“I only came in here to personally tell the ‘Imperial Council’ about what happened to our expedition six months ago.” Mr. Anderson seriously said as he looked around.

“We’re back and I intentionally left your King crabs back in our ‘Village’.” Mr. Jiro said as he looked at Mr. Sai.

“Oh? What!? Come on, that’s the only thing I requested to you and you still failed to bring it. How mean.” Mr. Sai said as he got upset and crossed his arms.

“Mean? Then, how about this letter you’ve sent to me. You even summoned your ‘Fire Bird’ to bring this to me instead doing it by yourself.” Mr. Jiro said as he took out and presented the letter to Mr. Sai.

“Well, after that m******e in our ‘Village’, I got angry to Hiiro and sent out those letters.” Mr. Sai said as he shouted out inside the court room.

“m******e? Please tell us what happened.” Ms. Iysa said as she wondered.

“Unidentified mercenaries have arrived in our ‘Village’; They tried to kidn*pped Ms. Janice’s son during the ‘Festival’, attacked Ms. Akari and left an orphan and seven dead bodies around that neighborhood.” Mr. Sai said as he got angry and kicked the wooden chair away from him.

“Your highness, please calm down.” Mr. Court Marshall said as he picked up the chair.

“Not to mention that four-winged dragon flew over and came to visit our ‘Village’. We believe that dragon is still wandering somewhere else back in our ‘Village’.’” Ms. Mai said as she added to her husband’s report.

“A four-winged dragon? Wait! Was that the one of the ‘Seven Mythical Beast’ Hiiro locked up on the North Wing of the Underground Prison? A dragon? That’s impossible, your highness.” Ms. Aya said as she remembered and tells Mrs. Mai.

“Ms. Akari already confessed that Hiiro was the mastermind behind that m******e. I demand to see that guy! Where is he anyway?” Mr. Sai said as he asked Ms. Iysa.

“You mean we. I also demand to see that liar! Mr. Anderson is here to testify his wrongdoings.” Mr. Jiro said as he slammed the wooden table in front of him.

 “Ah, yes! Now you mentioned that, the ‘Princess’ and Hiiro went back to our ‘Village’ to attend an important business. They left three days ago.” Mr. Ryu said as he tells to the other ‘Village Chiefs.’

“Huh? What?! Hiiro got escaped and he brought her little sister too. Damn it.” Mr. Sai said as he cursed out.

“What does your ‘Village Chief’ mean, Mr. Anderson?” Ms. Iysa said as she asked Mr. Anderson.

“You see, after our six-month expedition beyond the Kingdom, we’ve found nothing. This ‘Island’ called ‘Earth’ does not exists in this world.” Mr. Anderson said as he sighed and reported to Ms. Iysa.

“Huh? What?! Then, Hiiro’s lying after all. Damn it!” Mr. Sai said as he cursed out and slammed the table.

“Wait! What? Does that mean – We, the ‘Four Village Chiefs’, exiled the former ‘Imperial Prince’ and the other six fugitives in an unknown place.” Ms. Iysa exclaimed as she looked at Mr. Anderson.

“Yes. And there’s no way we can find the ‘Exiled Prince’ and bring him back in the ‘Main Island’. So give up.” Mr. Anderson sadly said as he scratched his head.

“Wait! So, that was the plan all along? To bring the ‘Exiled Prince’ back in the Kingdom. I didn’t know about this.” Ms. Annie said as she arrived inside the court room, followed by Yuki and Mr. Carlo.

“We’ve arrived, your highnesses.” Yuki said as he greeted everyone.

“Welcome back, Ms. Annie.” Mr. Ryu said as Ms. Annie approached them.

“Plan? I failed to comprehend, your highness.” Mrs. Mai said as she wondered and looked at Ms. Iysa.

“Knowing that the ‘Princess’ is incompetent enough to not lead the entire Kingdom, we, the ‘Four Village Chiefs’ with the help of the ‘Wathyrian Reps’ secretly asked Mr. Anderson and the ‘Wathyrian Navy’ to search for this ‘Island’, hoping that we can convince the ‘Exiled Prince’ to come back but Hiiro lied to us.” Mr. Ryu said as he explained what happened to everyone.

“Wait! We didn’t know about this. Why would you do something like this without consulting us?” Ms. Annie said as she got angry at Ms. Iysa.

 “Then, Ms. Annie, any news about your traitorous ‘Village Chief’?” Ms. Aya said as she asked Ms. Annie.

“Traitorous is such a strong word, your highness. Are you also referring to yourself?” Ms. Annie said as she taunted Ms. Aya.

“Be careful with your next statement, Ms. Annie. Who knows what I can do if you continue this.” Ms. Aya said as she got pissed off and warned Ms. Annie.

“Ah, yes! I’m coming, your highness.” Yuki said as he looked at Mr. Carlo and wondered.

Mr. Sai walked away, followed by Yuki and Mr. Jiro; The three went to the corner and started discussing something. Few minutes later, their discussion has ended and Yuki ran out of the court room, followed by Mr. Carlo.

“I just hope Ms. Akari will wake up soon to help us clear this misunderstand.” Mr. Ryu said as he sat down on his chair and sighed.

“This morning meeting is adjourned. You can now all go back to your offices.” Ms. Iysa said as she sighed and sat down on her chair, beside Mr. Ryu.

“Yes! We’re done. Hey! Did you really forget to bring those King crabs?” Mr. Sai said as he asked Mr. Jiro.

“Yes – Uh! Alright! Alright! I was lying earlier. Your King crabs were back in the ‘Royal Kitchen’ and asked the ‘Head Chef’ to clean it before giving it to you.” Mr. Jiro said he blushed and told Mr. Sai the truth.

“Yes! I knew it. Thank you very much! You’re the best.” Mr. Sai excitedly said as he ran out of the court room.

“Hey Dear! Where are you – Really? Since our ‘Village’ is found near a shield volcano, we only receive goods and seafood deliveries from your ‘Village’ every two months.” Mrs. Mai said as she sighed and tells Ms. Aya.

“Sir Sai indeed loves seafood unlike you, your highness. Well, no can even resist our ‘Village’s delicious fresh fishes and shellfishes caught by my fellow fishermen from the ‘Eastern Ocean’.” Ms. Aya said as she giggled.

Ms. Lilia flinched and accidentally spits out her tea.

“Huh!? What? I’m glad you did not do that. Our arrange marriage was already canceled so you don’t have to worry about me.” Ms. Lilia said as she blushed, trying to find a table napkin.

 “Here. You can use this.” Miko said as he grabbed the table napkin and gave it to Ms. Lilia.

“Uh? Thank you very much.” Ms. Lilia said as she took the table napkin.

“Huh? Arrange marriage? Eh?! Seriously?” Mayumi said as she shouted out loud.

“Yes. You heard it loud and clear. Your father insisted but this guy politely refused and chose to be banished out of our ‘Village’.” Ms. Lilia said as she tells Mayumi.

Ms. Lilia took out her black, masquerade mask out of her flower basket and showed it to Mayumi.

“No way! You’re indeed one of those 13 mercenaries. But why are you only targeting me? how about ‘No.13?’” Mayumi said as she tries to calm down and asked Ms. Lilia.

“No. You’re wrong. I only came in here to confirm one thing; Why did you stole the poisoned arrows that I specifically made for Kazane?” Ms. Lilia said as she asked Mayumi.

“I didn’t stole – Ah! Damn it! Fine. Yes! I decided to join in that group and I stole some of Kazane’s poisoned arrows. I used those arrows to avenge my mother who killed by the former ‘Royal Marksman’. And I did it. I killed him!” Mayumi said as she tells the truth to Ms. Lilia.

“Oh, that incident six months ago? Interesting. Why would do it?” Ms. Lilia said as she asked Mayumi.

“So, that Father can lift up my banishment and I can go back to ‘Iytheria’. I’ve been living in this wretched ‘Island’ for far too long. I cannot stand it anymore.” Mayumi said as she lies down on the floor.

“Well, that’s fair enough. Thank you for your cooperation.” Ms. Lilia said as she wiped off her mouth.

“That’s it? What exactly do you want from me?” Mayumi said as he suspiciously said as she asked Ms. Lilia.

“Eh? I almost forgot that. I also came in here to ask you to keep this for me.” Ms. Lilia said as she took out a vial filled with a crystal clear liquid inside.

“What is this? Are you planning to poison me?” Mayumi said as she took the vial and examined it.

“No. Silly child. That’s actually an antidote I made for Kazane’s poisoned arrows. Since she has already passed away, I decided to give it to you instead.” Ms. Lilia said as she stood up and stretched out her arms.

“Ah! I see. That’s why. Rumors said that Kazane went missing during the ‘Fireiyan Festival’ and were found dead along with the six victims of that massacre.” Eito said as he crossed his arms.

Mayumi opened the door and saw Mr. George and Eito standing outside her apartment.

“Ah, Mr. George is back. Thank you for that wonderful cake, Ms. Mayumi.” Ms. Lilia said as she went out of the apartment.

“Anytime, your highness. Uh? Kazane’s room is on the right side, three room away from mine.” Mayumi said as she tells Ms. Lilia.

“Thank you very much. Let’s go.” Ms. Lilia said as she walked away, followed by Mr. George.

“Ah! Uh? Ms. Mayumi, the ‘Imperial Council’ summons you back at the – Sir Yuki?” Eito said as he and Mayumi saw Yuki and Mr. Carlo running towards them.

“There you are. We finally got on time. You see…Ms. Iysa asked us to deliver this message ’the ‘Candidates’ Deliberation’ is canceled and will be moved later this week’. That’s it. The ‘Fireiyan’ and ‘Wathyrian Reps.’ has also arrived back in the Head Quarters.” Yuki said as he tells Eito and Mayumi.

“’Fireiyan Reps’ are back? then, Ms. Rai probably was – Uh!? Why are you staring at me like that?” Eito said as he got flustered and asked everyone.

“Sir Eito, you’re blushing.” Mr. Carlo said as he noticed while looking at Eito.

“No! I’m not. A-Anyway, I’m leaving.” Eito said as he casually walked away and went to Ms. Lilia and Mr. George at the end of the Hallway.

“Then, we’re be leaving as well.” Yuki said as he and Mr. Carlo waved back and ran away.

“Ah, yes! Thank you very much, your highness.” Mayumi said as she closed the door.

“Oh, no! I forgot to take away that black mask off the table – Eh? Atsuki?” Mayumi exclaimed as she saw Atsuki standing behind her.

“A-Atsuki! You’re already awake. Let’s go to the kitchen and I’ll prepare you afternoon snack.” Mayumi said as she grabbed Atsuki’s left hand, trying to drag him away.

“No! Stay away from me. I-Is this yours?” Atsuki said as he pushed and ran away from Mayumi.

“Atsuki? I – No…Wait! There’s no need to lie. Yes. That mask is mine.” Mayumi said as she looked at Atsuki.

“T-Then, why do you have this?” Atsuki said as he raised the mask and asked his big sister.

“You wouldn’t probably understand this but I fulfilled Father’s only wish. I did it, Atsuki.” Mayumi said as Atsuki dropped the mask and ran to her.

“Thank you, big sister. Thank you. Mother can now rest in peace.” Atsuki said as he cried onto Mayumi’s arms.

“Atsuki? Yeah. After this ‘Deliberation’, I promise we’ll immediately go back to our ‘Village’ and visit Mother’s grave back in our home.” Mayumi said as he pat Atsuki’s back.

“So, you finally did it. Thank you, little sister.” Miko said as approached Mayumi and Atsuki.

“Uh? Big brother? You’re welcome.” Mayumi cheerfully said as she hugged Miko.

Outside the ‘Imperial Dormitories’…

Mr. Carlo was walking behind Yuki when Yuki accidentally tripped himself and fell on the ground.

“Your highness, are you alright?” Mr. Carlo said as he reached out his left hand to help Yuki.

“Yes, I’m alright. Actually, the truth is – I’m not. I was confused from what Sir Sai said to me.” Yuki said as he stood up and dusted off his pants.

“If I may ask, what exactly did his highness said to you?” Mr. Carlo said as he wondered and asked Yuki.

“Uh? He said that I should not completely trust the words from a traitor just like my big brother, Hiiro. I wonder if I should report this to him when they come back in the ‘Main Island’.” Yuki said as he sighed and crossed his arms.

“Um? Speaking of Sir Hiiro, I wonder what are they doing right now.” Mr. Carlo said as he and Yuki looked up in the clear, morning sky.

Back in ‘Aethyria’

Outside the ‘Aethyria’s Land Mining and Forest Preservation Center’…

Mr. Timmy and Mrs. Ester were waiting for the Matsuoka Siblings to arrive at the ‘Center’.

“Ah, they are here.” Mr. Timmy said as a carriage stopped in front of them.

“Announcing the arrival of her highness, ‘Princess’ Harue and the ‘Royal Advisor’, Sir Hiiro.” Butler #1 said as he opened the door for Harue and Hiiro.

“Welcome back, your highnesses. It is good to see you again.” Mrs. Ester said as she suddenly hugged Harue.

“Yes, Mrs. Ester. We’re back. Thank you very much.” Harue said as Mrs. Ester squished her cheeks.

“Uh? Darling, please stop that. I’m really sorry, your highness.” Mr. Timmy shyly said he apologized to Hiiro.

“Hiiro will be fine. Our mother sent us in here, hoping that you’ll have some good news for her.” Hiiro said as he giggled.

“Ah, yes! You see, our fellow ‘Aethyrians’ caught the ‘White Hound’ who bit your father on his right leg. They captured it and now locked up inside a closed cage in the backyard.” Mr. Timmy said as he reported to Hiiro and walked away.

“A ‘White Hound’? Interesting. Harue, let’s follow him.” Hiiro said as he turned around and instructed Harue.

“We’re coming. Let’s my adorable niece.” Mrs. Ester said as she dragged Harue away.

“Wait! I need to use the women’s restroom so you go ahead.” Harue said as she ran away and went inside the ‘Center’.

“Ah! Okay. The women’s restroom is at the right side of the hallway, on the ground floor.” Mrs. Ester said as she instructed Harue.

“Follow her.” Hiiro said as he ordered Emi#2 who immediately walked away.

“Your highness, this way please.” Mr. Timmy said as he called out Hiiro.

“I’m coming. Shall we, milady?” Hiiro said as he asked Mrs. Ester.

“Okay. Thank you very much.” Mrs. Ester said as she giggled and walked away.

Inside the ‘Center’

Lounge Area…

Harue decided to lie down on the lounge area instead of going to the restroom.

“Your highness, you should’ve not lied like that to Sir Hiiro.” Emi#2 said as she sat on the other end of the right sofa.

“I know but I’m exhausted. We just arrived few hours ago and after we went back to the mansion, Hiiro asked me to come in here.” Harue said as she lied down on the right sofa.

“Then, you should’ve politely declined his request not lying like this – Uh? Are you snoring?” Emi #2 said as she heard someone snoring and asked Harue.

“No! I’m not. That was the other girl sleeping on the left sofa. She seems familiar though.” Harue said as she jumped off the sofa and quietly approached the sleeping girl.

“She’s the girl who saved us back then, in the ‘Underground Prison’, your highness.” Emi #2 softly said as she stood behind Harue.

“Emi, where are you? Uh? My apologies. I didn’t know that we’re having special visitors arriving today.” Mrs. Helen Fujimoto, Emi’s mother, said as she was searching for Emi and arrived in the lounge area.

“Good afternoon, we would like to apologize as well. Is that right, your highness?” Emi #2 said as she glared at Harue.

“Ah, yes! We – I, too, apologize for barging in like this. Uh? Is she your daughter?” Harue said as she wondered and asked Mrs. Helen.

“Yes, ‘Princess’ Harue. Emi’s my youngest child.” Mrs. Helen said as she giggled.

“Then, you know her ‘Other Abilities’ as well. I mean she said that she used it to erase my memories back then.” Harue sadly said as she tells Mrs. Helen.

“Oh? Then, she also used that ‘Ability’ to me.” Mrs. Helen said as she took off her sash and put it around Emi’s shoulders.

“She did? But why?” Harue said as she looked at Emi and wondered.

“Because I asked her to do so. I asked her to erase one specific memory out of my mind and after that I didn’t feel anything.” Mrs. Helen said as sat on the other end of the sofa and gently combed Emi’s hair.

“Um? About memories, is it possible to bring back my memories that she erased from me?” Harue said as she wondered and asked Mrs. Helen.

“Bring back your lost memories huh? That’s impossible, your highness. Your past memories were permanently erased and – Wait. Why are you asking this?” Mrs. Helen said she got intrigued and asked Harue.

“Permanently erased? That’s not fair. Uh!? N-Nothing. I-I just got curious that’s it. Hahaha.” Harue said as she nervously chuckles.

“Your highness, the women’s restroom is on that way.” Emi#2 said as she tells Harue.

“Ah, yes! The restroom! I’ll be back and you don’t have to accompany me.” Harue said as she walked away and ran along the hallway.

“Your highness, you forgot your satchel.” Emi#2 said as Harue blushed and ran back to her.

Harue grabbed the satchel and ran back to the hallway.

Along the Hallway…

Harue was walking along the hallway, trying to find the Women’s restroom.

“Where is it? Ah! I found it – Uh? That’s a weird door.” Harue said as she arrived outside the women’s restroom.

Harue saw a wooden door covered with long, green vines, leaves and flowers across the women’s bathroom.

“I guess they forgot to clean this door. Oh, well. I wonder what’s stored inside this room.” Harue said as she got curious and unlocked the door.

Harue successfully opened the door and saw a dark, empty room but little did she know…

“Congratulations, your highness.

You found the ‘Rusty Gate.’”

Alphe said as he suddenly appeared behind Harue.

“Eh?! Who’s that?” Harue said as she turned around and asked Alphe.

Behind the door was Mr. Terry who carefully opened it and seized Harue’s right arm; He, then, dragged her inside the dark room. Alphe immediately slammed shut the door and escaped through his shadow portal; the mysterious wooden door eventually disappeared without a trace.

Few minutes later…

Mrs. Helen and Emi#2 arrived outside the women’s restroom and knocked on the door.

“Your highness, are you done?” Mrs. Helen said as she shouted outside the restroom.

“Eh? That’s strange. Her highness usually asks for my help to zip up her casual dress. Your highness, I’m coming in!” Emi#2 said as she opened the door and went inside the restroom.

Meanwhile

In the backyard…

Hiiro was walking around the metal cage, examining Avia, the ‘White Hound’ that was locked up inside the cage.

“Interesting! It is indeed a ‘White Hound’. It seems that the ‘Black Hounds’ can change their fur color depending on the season.” Hiiro said as she tells Mr. Timmy and Mrs. Ester.

“Uh? That’s odd. That’s not the ‘Black Hound’ who bit your father, Sir Hiiro.” Mrs. Ester said as she looked at Avia.

“What? What do you mean?” Hiiro said as he got curious and asked Mrs. Ester.

“Back then, I was delivering the miners’ lunches back in the rest area when a ‘Black Hound’ with purplish black eyes came sneaking in and attacked your father. This ‘White Hound’ has a pair of jet-black eyes not purple so I’m pretty sure this was not the ‘’Hound’ who bit your father.” Mrs. Ester said as she explained to Hiiro and his husband.

“Then, our fellow ‘Villagers’ caught the wrong ‘Hound’. This is bad. That ‘Black Hound’ is probably wandering inside our ‘Village’.” Mr. Timmy said he sighed and scratched his head.

“Let’s check the ‘Mining Area’. I think that ‘Black Hound’ went back to the ‘Mining Area’ to – Eh?” Hiiro said as he saw Avia stood up and started walking inside the cage.

‘No.

You’re mistaken.’

Avia said as she was telepathically communicating with Hiiro and the others.

“Uh? Please tell me how I am wrong.” Hiiro said as he wondered and scratched his head.

‘My husband came in here

To meet the ‘Princess’ – I mean

The ‘Key’.’

Avia said as she was telepathically communicating with Hiiro.

“The ‘Key’? Wait! How did you know about that?” Hiiro exclaimed as he shouted back Avia.

“Uh? Your highness, who are you talking to?” Mr. Timmy said as he approached Hiiro and asked him.

‘Thank you, your highness

You brought us the ‘Key’

And there’s the ‘Rusty Gate.’

Avia said as she was telepathically talking to Hiiro.

“I knew it! The ‘Rusty Gate’ is somewhere around our ‘Village’. Tell me, where is the exact location of the ‘Gate’.” Hiiro exclaimed as he shouted back Avia.

‘Stupid ‘Aethyrian’.

The ‘Gate’ will not be opened

Because you forgot to the other TWO.’

Avia said as she was telepathically talking to Hiiro.

“The other TWO? Then, what exactly are you doing in here?” Hiiro said as Mr. Timmy stopped behind him and asked Avia.

‘Stalling.

Her highness is probably

Wandering alone, along that snowy

Mountain ranges.’

Avia said as she was telepathically talking to Hiiro.

 “Eh? Harue’s servant? What are you doing in here?” Hiiro said as he saw Emi#2 running towards him.

“Your highness, we have a problem. Her highness just went disappeared.” Emi#2 said as she panicked and reported to Hiiro.

“What?! Harue’s missing again?” Hiiro said as he shouted out.

Along the snowy mountain ranges…

Harue was wandering aimlessly on these mountain ranges, twenty kilometers away from ‘Aethyria’.

“I should’ve brought my winter coat. It is freezing up here. I wonder why would that ‘skeleton guy’ or ‘Alementalian’ brought me up here. Eh? What is it? The ‘Book of Prophecies’ is glowing.” Harue said as she took out the ‘book’ and saw it glowing.

Harue carefully opened the ‘book’ and tried to read it.

“Let’s see…Um? If I point the ‘book’ on the north-west direction, it stops glowing but if I point the ‘book’ on the north-east direction, Eh? It glows back. What is happening?” Harue said as she looked at the ‘book’.

‘Walk straight ahead

and you’ll see the ‘Rusty Gate’.

Alphe said as he suddenly behind Harue and was trying to communicate with her.

“You! You’re the ‘Black Hound’ who slammed shut that mysterious door. Why did you bring me in here?” Harue said as she got angry and yelled to Alphe.

‘Walk straight ahead

and you’ll see the ‘Rusty Gate’.

Alphe said as he jumped back onto his shadow portal and disappeared.

“Hey! You can’t just leave me in here alone. Somebody please help me!” Harue said as she panicked and shouted out.

Two hours later…

No one came to rescue Harue who’s still wandering along those snowy mountains.

“Okay. Calm down Harue. Remember what that ‘Black Hound’ said. It said that ‘walk straight ahead and you’ll see the ‘Rusty Gate’. ‘Rusty Gate’? Wait! Naomi’s love letter?” Harue said as she hid the ‘book’ inside her satchel and saw Naomi’s love letter.

Harue took out the letter and put the ‘book’ the back in her satchel. Harue ran out and took shelter under a tall, pine tree covered with snow and icicles.

“Okay. I’m sorry, big brother Hiiro but I am really curious about this love letter. Uh? the letter says; ‘Pass by the pine tree, the ‘Rusty Gate’ is on the other side of the icy mountains. – Love: Your Darling, Naomi.’ Huh? This is not a letter but clues where to find the ‘Rusty Gate.’ Wait!” Harue said as she looked behind her.

“This is the pine tree big sister Naomi’s referring to. Then, up ahead must be the place where the ‘Rusty Gate’ is located.” Harue said as she ran up to that slippery, mountain trail.

Up in the mountain...

Harue finally reached the highest peak of that mountain and saw an iron gate covered with snow and icicles situated behind the frozen forest.

“Big brother, look! I finally found it. Ah. I almost forgot, no one came to rescue me. But found the ‘Rusty Gate’ and I’m the ‘Key’, then the Kingdom is saved!” Harue excitedly said as she tried to unlocked the ‘Gate’.

The said ‘Gate’ was locked with iron chains and a four-sided padlock in the center.

“Oh, no! Even the keyhole’s completely frozen. What should I do? Did I forget something? If I did, what was it? Think Harue. Think!” Harue said as she eventually got tired and lost her consciousness.

Harue suddenly fell on the snow and fell asleep.

Meanwhile in ‘Wathyria’

Along the riverbanks…

The three ‘Blue Mafias’, Mr. Harry, Hayami and Kenji were observing the two ‘Red Assassins’ who were resting on the other side of the dried-up river.

“Hayami, are you certain that this dried-up, narrow river is the rumored ‘River of Selenia’?” Mr. Harry softly said as he asked Hayami, waiting on his left side.

“Yes, Sir Harry. Look at the frozen puddles of water inside the river. Our scorching summer season started last month but none of those hasn’t melted after thirty-one days.” Hayami said as she tells Mr. Harry.

“Oh? Is that so? The rumors about the ‘River of Selenia’ is true then. Kenji, are you even listening? Stop playing with your sniper gun.” Mr. Harry said as he reprimanded Kenji.
