XV. ‘Unfortunate Witnesses’

Previously on ‘Tale of the Demon Hero’: Ms. Akari told the truth to everyone forcing Mr. Sai to close all Fireiya’s boundaries to the other three neighboring ‘Villages’ and ‘Main Island’, sending out his three white ‘Fire Birds’; Hikaru went to the Diner to asked Theo about the paper bag. ‘Ryo’ and Rai took a detour; They went inside her father’s arsenal in the attic and found a parting gift for her. An ‘Accord’ has been made and Mayumi seems disoriented during their archer practice.

‘Main Island’, ‘Lake of Va-al’

Shoreline…

“W-What was it, your highness?” Ms. Milly said as she and the others wondered why Hiiro shouted.

“That old man! Damn it! He cannot just close their borders like that and ‘Fireiya’ is the only ‘Village’ that distributes and sells weapons in the entire Kingdom. If he continues this, even gold bars cannot be forged into a Long Sword and there will be a scarcity of weapons in the ‘Main Island’. Damn it!” Hiiro said as he cursed out and kicked the rock away from him.

“That will a big problem, your highness.” Mr. Bobby said as he stretched out his arms.

“Oh? Your arm’s all healed? Good.” Mr. Charlie said as he pats Mr. Bobby’s right shoulder.

“Is there something else I need to know before we dismiss?” Hiiro said as he sighed and asked Ms. Milly.

“Ah, yes! About that, our ambush is a success. The main Targets has been eliminated except…” Ms. Milly said as she reported to Hiiro.

“Finally! That’s good news – Wait! except?” Hiiro said as he wondered and looked at the three.

“First, their daughter, Rai Akimura is still alive. We failed to kill her because she’s not around their house at that time.” Ms. Milly said as she reported to Hiiro who flinched.

“Alright. Please give a moment to calm down – I can’t. Huh!? Rai is still alive?! How did that happen?” Hiiro said as he got angry and yelled at Ms. Milly. 

“Second, I think there were four witnesses who saw us during the ambush. Back in my post, I saw four children waiting outside the Akimura’s property before Shuichi went out of their house.” Mr. Charlie said as he scratched his head and reported to Hiiro.

“Four witnesses?! Not to mention, you said children! You should have killed them as well.” Hiiro said as he got angry and yelled at Mr. Charlie. 

“Lastly, we saw a ‘dragon’ flew above the ‘Village’ while we’re being attacked by two ‘White Skeletons who used Mr. Charlie as a shield to defend itself to a poisoned arrow.” Mr. Bobby said as he also reported to Hiiro.

“A ‘dragon’?! That’s impossible! I already killed it six months ago – Wait! That’s probably why Yuki and Mr. Carlo were summoned to the North Building. And you got defeated by two ‘White Skeletons’?! Shame on you!” Hiiro said as he got angry and yelled at Mr. Bobby. 

“Your highness! Please calm down. You don’t need to shout at us, we can clearly hear you.” Ms. Milly said as Hiiro flinched and looked at her.

“Alright! I’m sorry for me rude behavior. I was expecting good news when you got back from ‘Fireiya’ but I think I underestimated Rai. Wait! Did you just say poisoned arrow?” Hiiro said as he calmed down and asked Mr. Bobby.

“Yes! It almost killed me. No.13 aimlessly fired that poisoned arrow and it hit me. Luckily, I immediately pulled it out before contaminating by entire wound. Why?” Mr. Charlie said as he tells Hiiro.

“This is interesting. I didn’t know that Ms. Lilia Yoshiyuki is still forging that kind of arrow. For the meantime, I want you to go back in ‘Fireiya’ and finish the job.” Hiiro said as he crossed his arms.

“We can’t. I mean, earlier, you said that the ‘Fireiyan Village Chief’ closed all of their borders from outsiders, right? There’s no way we can get back inside to that ‘Village’.” Mr. Bobby said as he tells Hiiro.

“Yes, your right! I forgot about that. Okay! Let’s all calm down and rethink our steps.” Hiiro said as he got angry and shouted out.

“You are the one who needs to calm down, your highness.” Mr. Charlie said as he sat and lie down on the ground.

“You are not helping at all. Uh? What’s that?” Hiiro said as he saw the black mask, tied onto Mr. Bobby’s waist and asked him.

“Ah, yes! This was the mask we’ve used to hide our identities. Here, you can have it.” Mr. Bobby said as he untied the mask and gave it to Hiiro.

“Thank you. Hm? I have an idea. Mr. Bobby, come with me.” Hiiro said as he smirked and walked away, followed by Mr. Bobby.

Hiiro whispered some instructions to Mr. Bobby; Mr. Bobby smirked and nodded after hearing Hiiro’s plan.

Few Minutes later…

Hiiro left and went back into the forest; Mr. Bobby went back to Ms. Milly and Mr. Charlie.

“Hm? Something’s weird. What did he tell you?” Ms. Milly said as she pouted and asked Mr. Bobby.

“Just his instructions for a new job. Do you want to hear it?” Mr. Bobby said as he raised up his black mask.

Thirty minutes later

Inside the ‘Imperial Dormitories’

Outside Mayumi’s Apartment…

Ms. Milly, pretending to be a delivery woman, was carrying a medium sized, carton box and waiting outside Mayumi’s apartment.

“Delivery for Ms. Mayumi.” Ms. Milly said as she knocked on the door, waiting outside the apartment.

“Coming! Just a second.” Miko said as he ran to the front door and opened it.

“Good afternoon, sir. Delivery for Ms. Mayumi.” Ms. Milly said as she gave the carton box to Miko.

“Thank you. Uh? I wonder what’s inside of this box.” Miko said as he wondered and closed the door.

“Thank you very much.” Ms. Milly said as she smirked and casually walked away.

Inside Mayumi’s Apartment…

Miko went inside the living area and placed the box on the top of the center table.

“What is that, big brother?” Atsuki said as he ran to the living area from the kitchen and asked his big brother.

“Ah! It’s a package for big sister. But from what I’ve remembered, Mayumi didn’t mention any package that will be delivered nor Ms. Lilia visiting us today.” Miko said as he crossed his arms and wondered.

“Let’s open it!” Atsuki said as he ran away and grabbed the box.

“Atsuki? No! We must not open that – Please give it back.” Miko said as he seized the box out of Atsuki’s hands.

“No! I will open it. Aren’t you curious to see what’s inside this box?” Atsuki said as he pouted and asked his big brother.

“No – Of course, yes! But Mayumi will get angry if we open that without her permission.” Miko said as he blushed and sat on the right sofa.

“Don’t worry! Big sister won’t be angry to us. So, can you pretty please open it?” Atsuki said as he pleaded to his big brother.

“Ah, alright! Give me that I will open it.” Miko said as he gave up and sighed.

Atsuki sat beside Miko on the right sofa and watched him carefully opened the box using his pocket knife; few minutes later, Miko managed to open it and took out a black mask.

“A black mask? That’s weird.” Miko said as he examined the mask.

“Uh? I’ve seen that mask before. Please wait in here. I will be back.” Atsuki said as he stood up and ran out of the living area.

“Atsuki? Where are you going?” Miko said as he shouted out inside the living area.

Five minutes later, Atsuki went back inside the living area, carrying the same black, masquerade mask and a black hooded cape.

“Here. Big brother look. I found the same mask and this black hooded cape, inside her laundry basket, beside big sister’s bed.

“Indeed! They are the same. Wait? Under Mayumi’s bed?” Miko said as he got intrigued and examined the two masks.

“I’m back! I’m a bit early. Uh? Hello?” Mayumi said as she arrived and went inside her apartment.

“Mayumi’s back!? Hurry! Help me hide these.” Miko said as he flinched and panicked.

Miko and Atsuki immediately hide the two masks and cape inside the box; Atsuki stood up and ran to the front door while Atsuki went to the kitchen and hid the box inside the highest, empty cupboard.

“Big sister! Welcome back!” Atsuki cheerfully said as he hugged Mayumi.

“Yes, I’m back! Here. I brought some assorted mini tarts from Ms. Annie. She asked me to give this to you.” Mayumi said as she gave the small, woven basket filled with tarts to Atsuki.

“Hooray! This is mine.” Atsuki said as he ran away, carrying the basket to the kitchen.

“Welcome back, Mayumi.” Miko said as he went to the front door and stretched out his arms.

“I’m back, big brother. I’m sorry to disturb your afternoon nap.” Mayumi said as she apologized to Miko.

“No problem. Anyway, Ms. Lilia visited earlier after you’ve left for your archery practice.” Miko said as he tells Mayumi.

“U-Uh? S-She did? What did she say, then?” Mayumi said as she flinched and took off her shoes.

“Ms. Lilia invited you to an afternoon tea party with her today but since you’re not here, she left a letter for you instead.” Miko said as he took out an envelope from his right, chest pocket and gave it to Mayumi.

“O-okay. Thank you, big brother. I’ll read it later.” Mayumi said as she took the letter and hid it inside her lower, left coat pocket.

“Get changed and join with us back in the kitchen – Atsuki? What happened?” Miko said as he ran away after hearing something crashed inside the kitchen.

Mayumi giggled as she went inside and straight to her bedroom.

Back in the ‘I.C.H.Q.’

Inside the ‘Advisor’s Room’…

Hiiro went back inside the room and stretched out his arms.

“Now, let’s see. Where was I? Ah, yes! I was reading Naomi’s love letter after Mother’s letter when a ‘Black Hound’ appeared and told me that Ms. Milly and the others has arrived. W-Where is it? There you are! Wait! This is Mother’s letter! Uh? Come in.” Hiiro said as he was interrupted by a loud knock on the door.

Yuki opened the door, both sweating and tired from running across the Hallways.

“Welcome back, big brother! I’m sorry to disturb you but we have a big problem.” Yuki said as he, Emi#2 and Mr. Carlo went inside the room.

“Big problem? Please don’t tell me it is not related to Harue.” Hiiro said as he sighed and sat down on his chair.

“Harue is missing. After she went in here, she suddenly ran away and disappeared.” Yuki said as he reported to Hiiro.

“I knew it – Wait! What? Harue went in here? What was she doing in my room?” Hiiro exclaimed as he asked Emi#2.

“Ah, yes! Her highness heard that your mother has sent a letter for all of you; she, then, ran out of her room and went in here. But when I came back from the kitchen, she was gone. We’ve tried searching around the four buildings but we cannot find her in here.” Emi#2 said as he explained what happened.

“I see. Hm? Mother’s letter eh? She’s not in the Head Quarters then she’s probably at – Everyone! Come with me. I know where she is.” Hiiro said as he stood up and ran out of his room.

“Wait! What was Mother’s message?” Yuki said as he and the others followed Hiiro out of the room.

“To make long story short, Mother said that Father had an unfortunate accident. He was bitten by ‘Black Hound’ after mining and immediately brought to the hospital.” Hiiro said as he tells Yuki the summary of their mother’s letter.

“Bitten by a ‘Black Hound?’  Oh no! Harue probably got worried and ran away. But where exactly did she ran to?” Yuki said as he asked Hiiro.

“Uh? Where are the other ‘Aethyrian Reps.’?” Hiiro said as he wondered and asked Mr. Carlo.

“Ah, yes! The other ‘Aethyrian Reps.’ went to the ‘Central Airport’ to supervise the on-going rebuilding of the ‘Aerostats’ Garage earlier after you’ve left.” Mr. Carlo said as he tells Hiiro.

“Alright! First, let’s go to the ‘Airport’ and find the ‘Aethyrian Reps.’. Mr. Sai has sent his ‘Fire Bird’ to give me this letter. After that, we’ll find Harue.” Hiiro said as he instructed everyone.

“As you wish, your highness.” Yuki, Emi#2 and Mr. Carlo said in chorus and one by one went out of the room.

Few minutes later, Hiiro also went out of the room and ran along with the others to find the ‘Aethyrian Reps.’  

Inside the ‘Central Airport’…

Ms. Iysa and Mr. Ryu were inspecting the damages inside the ‘Aerostats’ Garage when Harue ran past behind them and was chased by two ‘Upper Knights’.

“Your highness! Please do not run while inside the ‘Garage’.” Mr. ‘Upper Knight’#1 said as he shouted out, trying to call Harue.

“Who was that? Soldier, what happened?” Ms. Iysa said she turned around and asked the two ‘Upper Knights’.

“I apologize, your highness. The ‘Wathyrian Fire fighters’ inspecting outside saw Princess Harue running inside the ‘Airport’ and went in here. We tried to stop her but it was too late.” Mr. ‘Upper Knight’ #2 said as he explained what happened.

“Her highness – Wait! The ‘Princess’ is here!? Where is she? What the hell is she doing in here?” Ms. Iysa said as she turned around, looking for Harue.

“Look! Her highness is over there! I’ll chase her. Soldiers, follow me.” Mr. Ryu said as he commanded the ‘Upper Knights’.

The two ‘Upper Knights’ nodded and ran away along with Mr. Ryu.

“That spoiled brat. What the heck is she up to? I swear after the ‘Candidates’ Deliberation’ next week, I’ll give her a long, long lecture on how to become a proper ‘Princess’.” Ms. Iysa said as she got pissed off and cursed out.

“Uh? Please calm down, your highness. I’m sure there’s a reason why she’s here.” Mr. ‘Upper Knight #3 said as he stepped back from Ms. Iysa.

“My apologies. Let’s get back to work.” Ms. Iysa said as she calmed down and grabbed the wooden, clipboard and read the written report.

Few meters away from Ms. Iysa’s location…

Mr. George was arranging the wooden crates outside Eito’s aerostat parked in the ‘Garage’ when Harue ran past beside him; Harue tried to sneak inside the aerostat but Mr. George saw recognized and stopped her.

“Good morning, your highness! It is nice of you to visit us in this lovely morning.” Mr. George said out loud as he saw Harue and greeted her.

“Highness? Eh?! Your highness!? W-What are you doing in here?” Eito said as he and Ms. Phoebe ran and approached Mr. George and Harue.

“Mr. George! Why would you have – Uh? Hello.” Harue said as she blushed and scratched her head.

“Your highness! What are you doing in here? Where are your attendants? You must get back to the Head Quarters. You are not safe in here.” Eito said as he got worried to Harue.

“No. I will not go back. I intentionally ditched my attendants and went in here.” Harue said as she crossed her arms.

“Huh?! Then, what exactly are you doing in here?” Eito said in disbelief and asked Harue.

“I’m here to steal your aerostat and fly back in ‘Aethyria’. My big brother, Hiiro received a letter from our Mother earlier. The letter said that my Father had an unfortunate accident and was bitten by a ‘Black Hound.’” Harue said as she took out Naomi’s love letter and gave it to Eito.

“Um? ‘From: Naomi Kurogaki’? A love letter for me? You must be mistaken your highness.” Eito said as he read the name written on the envelope and chuckled.

Harue got flustered and grabbed the letter out of Eito’s right hand.

“Damn it! I grabbed the wrong letter. Eh? M-My apologies.” Harue said as she crumpled the envelope and hid it inside her satchel.

“I understand that you’re worried for your Father but I suggest you should go back to – Uh?” Eito said as got interrupted by Harue who suddenly walked past beside him.

Eito raised his left arm to block her way; Harue got surprised and silently drew out Eito’s Long Sword out of its scabbard.

“Get out of my way. I am going back to ‘Aethyria’ even if I have to do it alone.” Harue seriously said as she looked at Eito.

“No. I shall not let you pass or leave unless… you – Wait! When did you?” Eito exclaimed as Harue raised his Long Sword and almost slit his right neck.

“Ha! Surprise! Now, here’s your Long Sword and let me pass.” Harue cheerfully said as he gave the sword back to Eito.

“Thank you, your highness. But, no. I will not let you pass.” Eito seriously said as he took his Long Sword back into its scabbard.

“Why? If I use your aerostat from here, I’ll arrive in ‘Aethyria’ in two hours. I promise after I visit my Father, I’ll be back here in the ‘Main Island’ by afternoon.” Harue said as she insisted, trying to convince Eito.

“No. The other ‘Village Reps.’ hasn’t come back yet. As soon as they got back, we’ll start the ‘Candidates’ Deliberation’ so, on behalf of the Second ‘Imperial Council’, I hereby order you not to leave the ‘Main Island’. You can visit your Father after we finish the ‘Deliberation’ next week.” Mr. Ryu said as he and the two ‘Upper Knights’ arrived and ordered Harue.

“What? But why? I don’t want to stay in this stupid ‘Island’ anymore. Please, let me go.” Harue said as he pleaded and cried.

Harue cried and kneeled down on the floor

“Your highness! Please calm down.” Mr. George said as he got worried for Harue.

Mr. George took of his black coat and put it around Harue’s shoulders.

“Your highness, please understand that the Kingdom is relying on you and your ‘Chosen Candidate’. We cannot afford to lose you again. That’s all. Soldiers, escort her highness back to the Head Quarters.” Mr. Ryu said as he commanded the two ‘Upper Knights’.

“As you wish, your highness – Eh? Sir Hiiro? Sir Yuki is here too?” Mr. ‘Upper Knight’ #1 said as he turned around and saw Hiiro, Yuki and the others arrived.

“We’ve arrived, your highness.” Hiiro said as he tells Mr. Ryu

“Hiiro? Where have you been? Ms. Iysa needs your help in rewriting those reports.” The overjoyed Mr. Ryu said as he grabbed Hiiro’s shoulders and shake him.

“I’m sorry for being late. I just received a letter from Mr. Sai. Here, please read it.” Hiiro said as he took out an envelope and gave it to Mr. Ryu

“A letter from Mr. Sai? Huh? That’s strange.” Mr. Ryu said as he opened the envelope and read it.

“Uh? H-Hello everyone.” Harue said as she got scared and hid behind Eito.

“I told you to stay back in your room but instead you ran away – Um? Big brother?” Yuki said as he got angry to Harue.

But he was interrupted by Hiiro who tousled his hair.

“Yuki, calm down. We already found Harue so you don’t need to be angry.” Hiiro cheerfully said as he pinched Yuki’s cheeks.

“I know but – can you please stop pinching my cheeks?” Yuki said as he blushed and stepped on Hiiro’s right foot.

“Ow-ouch! My bad. And for you, young lady, I hope you have a better explanation why did you ran away from the Head Quarters.” Hiiro said as he looked at Harue.

“Uh? Please allow me to visit Father back in our ‘Village’. I promise I will be back this afternoon. I swear. Please.” Harue said as she stepped out and pleaded to her big brothers.

Hiiro and Yuki gazed at each other; Yuki sighed as Hiiro giggled.

“Alright! I’ll come with you.” Hiiro said as tells Harue.

“Hey Hiiro! You cannot just decide like that. I ordered her to – But, I don’t have time for this. Come with me. Ms. Iysa wants to talk with you.” Mr. Ryu said as he crumpled the letter and stomped away, followed by the two ‘Upper Knights’.

“Eh? Uh? I didn’t expect that. Thank you, big brother. Thank you!” Harue cheerfully said as she ran forward and hugged Hiiro.

“Your highness? But?” Emi#2 said as she and Mr. Carlo looked at Hiiro.

“Don’t worry! Yuki and I will accompany her – Uh? Is there something wrong, Yuki?” Hiiro said as they stared at Yuki.

“My apologies. I cannot come with you today. I have afternoon classes back in the ‘Academy’.” Yuki said as he apologized to Harue.

“Oh? That’s bad. Then, Harue, her servant and I will leave today while Mr. Carlo will accompany Yuki instead.” Hiiro said as he instructed Emi#2 and Mr. Carlo.

“As you wish, your highness.” Emi #2 and Mr. Carlo said in chorus.

“Uh? As much as I wanted to help you, I cannot allow to get inside this aerostat.” Eito said as he tells everyone.

“Why?! Tell me, who ordered you that and I ask him to let us in.” Harue said as she got angry and stomped her right foot.

“This aerostat belongs to my elder sister, Ms. Lilia. She arrived last Sunday to visit Kazane, her former students back in the ‘Dormitories’. Before she left, she asked me to take care of her aerostat – I mean conduct an inspection and maintenance repair on her aerostat. After that, my sister and Kazane took the train and left to attend the ‘Annual Fireiyan Festival’ last two days ago. She and Kazane were probably back right now at the ‘Dormitories.’” Eito said as he explained to everyone.

“Is that so? Then, why did you not tell me earlier?” Harue said as she asked Eito.

“I was about to tell you but you suddenly shoved that love letter to me. Who is this Naomi by the way?” Eito said as he asked Harue.

Hiiro flinched and carefully pushed Harue away.

“Let’s go. We’re going to take the train instead.” Hiiro said as he blushed while pushing Harue away.

“The train?! But this is an emergency. And why are you pushing me?” Harue said as she asked her big brother.

“Uh? Excuse me, your highness but Ms. Iysa summons you.” Mr. ‘Upper Knight’ #1 said as he approached Hiiro.

“Oh? Alright. I will be right back. For the meantime, please bring Harue and the others back at the Head Quarters. After that, we’ll go straight to the ‘Central Train Station’.” Hiiro said as he instructed Yuki.

Mr. ‘Upper Knight; #1 ran away, followed by Hiiro.

“Uh? Okay. Harue, let’s go.” Yuki said as he, Emi#2 and Mr. Carlo walked away.

“Hey Eito! You’re fired! I hereby dismissing you from your job as my ‘Royal Guard’. You don’t have to take care of anymore. Bleh! Goodbye.” Harue said as she sighed and shouted inside the ‘Garage’.

“Eh?! He’s fired? Wait! A-Are you sure about that?” Yuki exclaimed as he asked Harue.

“Yes! Now, let’s go back to the Head Quarters.” Harue said as she pouted and stomped away.

“As you wish, your highness.” Eito said as he politely responded.

Harue, Yuki and the others went out of the ‘Garage’; The ‘Aethyrian Reps.’ were on the corner discussing what’s written inside Mr. Sai’s letter or so that’s what they thought while Eito’s team went back doing their own tasks.

“Hm? That’s not very nice to lie in front of her highness.” Ms. Phoebe said as she crossed her arms.

“Oh? Ms. Phoebe, you noticed that as well? I, too, was wondering why you said that, young master.” Mr. George said as he stared at Eito.

“Stop staring at me! Yes! I did lie to everyone. That aerostat parked outside was really my sister Lilia’s and this is mine. There I said it.” Eito said as he shouted at his servants.

“Then, why did you lied?” Ms. Phoebe said as she got intrigued and asked Eito.

“I guess that you saw it coming – I mean you lied because you knew that her highness will fired you as her ‘Royal Guard’ and refused her request.” Mr. George said he guessed.

“N-no! First, I got surprised that she actually fired me in front of everyone and second, I refused her request because…you forgot to put refill the gas in my aerostat. I thought you’ve already done that.” Eito said as he got angry at Mr. George.

“Ah, yes! I was about to refill the gas when I saw her highness sneaking around and stopped her. My apologies.” Mr. George said as he apologized to Eito and went back doing his task.

“Uh? Young master, here’s the list of the parts that we need to repair in Ms. Lilia’s aerostat.” Ms. Phoebe said as she gave the wooden clipboard to Eito.

In ‘Aethyria’

Outside the ‘Aethyria’s Mining Land and Forest Preservation Center’…

‘Aethyria’s Mining Land and Forest Preservation Center ‘is an institution founded by the four families to preserve and protect their ‘version’ of mother nature who provides their ‘elemental magic’. The ‘Four Families’ are the Matsuoka Family, Fujimoto Family, Yoshito Family, and Hisaku Family.  

Emi Fujimoto was sweeping outside the ‘Center’ when a miner came running towards her.

“I just need to clean this area and I’m done. Eh? Are you alright, sir?” Emi said as she asked the miner.

“Y-your highness! I-I was cutting that 100-year old tree when this letter magically appeared from its upper trunk. Here.” Mr. Miner #1 said as he tried to catch his breath and gave the letter to Harue.

“Highness? Please call me ‘Emi’ and a letter – Wait! This came from my big brother. H-He’s alive!?” Emi exclaimed as she examined the letter from Maki.

“Hey, you! Stop slacking and get back to work.” Mr. Timmy, the Head Caretaker of the ‘Center.’, said as he went and shouted at Mr. Miner #1.

“Work? I work as a miner and you’re asking me to cut a tree. I’ll go back to the ‘Mining Area’.” Mr. Miner #1 said as he complained to Mr. Timmy.

“No! You’re not allowed to leave until you cut off that tree.” Mr. Timmy said as he approached Mr. Miner #1.

“According to the rules made by ‘Four Families’, we’re not allowed to cut a tree.” Mr. Miner said as he tells Mr. Timmy.

“No. The rules said that no trees shall be cut unless it is already a hundred years old and shall be immediately replace by a tree sapling. Now, please get back to your work.” Mr. Timmy said as he tells Mr. Miner #1.

“No. They are still trees and we’re not allowed to cut them. Hey! Come back in here. You’re not done cutting that tree.” Mr. Timmy said as he ran away, chasing Mr. Miner #1.

“Uh? I’m really sorry about that.” Mrs. Ester, Mr. Timmy’s wife, said as she approached Emi.

“Ah, Mrs. Ester. No! Not all. Look, I’ve received a letter from my big brother.” Emi said as she showed the letter to Mrs. Ester.

“Eh?! Indeed. This came from Maki but I thought he got exiled. How did that happen?” Mrs. Ester said as she examined the letter and wondered.

“I-I don’t know either. I must bring this letter back to my Mother. But I’ll do that after I finish cleaning in here.” Emi said as she hid the envelope inside her maid apron’s lower pocket.

“Thank you for helping us. After what happened to Mr. Matsuoka, the miners ran out of the ‘Mining Area’ and the mining production has ceased for a few hours. I wonder where did that ‘Black Hound’ came from.” Mrs. Ester said as she wondered and grabbed the wooden broom stick.

“I also wonder why would they even attack us? After that aerostat accident last month, we, ‘Aethyrians’, are no longer allowed to travel beyond those icy mountains where the ‘Dark Forest’ is located.” Emi said as she sighed and wondered.

Meanwhile in ‘Wathyria’

Inside Charlie’s Restaurant…

Mr. Anderson and the ‘Wathyrian Reps.’ were celebrating inside a private room, in the restaurant; Waiter#1 arrives and serves their drinks.

“Thank you. I’m sorry for barging in like this.” The drunk Mr. Anderson said as he grabbed the bottle of beer and apologized to the waiter.

The waiter smiled and went out of the room.

“Uh? Mr. Jiro, are you alright?” Mr. Anderson said as he asked Mr. Jiro.

“Ah, yes! I’m sorry for spacing out. I just cannot believe that Hiiro lied to all of us.” Mr. Jiro said as he drank his beer.

“That stupid guy. I cannot believe that he would do literally do anything just to make his ambitions come true.” The drunk Mr. Akito said as he got angry and threw the wine glass on the wall.

“Just like what I’ve told you, after six months of searching, there’s no such thing as ‘Earth’ or a mysterious island beyond ours. My crew started wondering why are we searching for an imaginary island in the middle of nowhere so I decided to stop and went back in our ‘Village’.” Mr. Anderson said as lied back on the sofa and looked up on the ceiling.

“Not to mention, this letter from Mr. Sai. The letter says that he’s ceasing all distribution of weapons and good from their ‘Village’ and closing it from the others. This is bad.” Ms. Aya said as she read the letter.

“We’re really in a big trouble. Wait! Closed? Does that mean I will never see Ms. Akari again?” Mr. Akito said as he stood up and asked Ms. Aya.

“Yes. You should have confessed to her when you had the chance.” Ms. Aya said as she sighed and drank her red wine.

“Con – what?! Huh?! She’s only my friend and colleague. That’s it.” Mr. Akito said as he got flustered and drank his third bottle of beer.

“That’s the spirit! Let’s drink.” Mr. Anderson said as he raised his mug, followed by Mr. Akito.

“Hey, Akito. Don’t drink too much. You still have work to do.” Mr. Jiro said as he drank his fourth bottle of beer.

“Shut up! You also have work to do. What should I write as our reply to that letter?” Mr. Akito said as he carefully put the bottle back on to the center glass table.

Mr. Akito took out his notepad and pencil out of his right, chest pocket, waiting for Mr. Jiro’s message.

“Uh? Please write and send this message for me: ‘If this what you’ve wanted, then say goodbye to your King crabs. Please tell Ms. Akari that I’ll always love her. (P.S. Mr. Akito wrote that part.). That’s it.” Mr. Jiro said as dictated his message to Mr. Akito.

“I’ll always love her (P.S. Mr. Akito wrote that part.) What?! Are you kidding me?! Change your message.” Mr. Akito said as after he got finished writing and read his notes.

“What? I knew you’ve always wanted to say that.” Mr. Jiro said as Mr. Akito blushed and shoved the notepad onto his face.

Back in the kitchen…

Kenji was cleaning the counter top tables while Hayami was washing the dishes when Mr. Waiter #1 came back.

“Welcome back, Mr. Harry. Uh? I guess our guests are still drinking back at that room.” Kenji said as Mr. Harry sighed.

“Yes. And if this continues, we’ll ran out of beer.” Mr. Harry, Mr. Charlie’s right hand, said as he put the tray in the kitchen sink.

“Um? Mr. Charlie is supposed to be back right now. I wonder what happened.” Hayami said as she continues washing the used dishes.

“Maybe their mission failed and he’s now locked up in the ‘Underground Prison.’” Mr. Harry said as he crossed his arms and walked away.

“What? No way! Master’s getting forgetful sometimes but I’m sure he still can finish this mission.” Kenji said as he dried off the wiping cloth on the kitchen sink.

“Sometimes? No! You mean almost every time. Speaking of mission, Master asked me to tell you, Kenji that Hayami’s accompanying you tomorrow night.” Mr. Harry said as he grabbed clean cloth and started drying off the washed utensils.

“Huh?! What?” Kenji exclaimed as he looked at Mr. Harry.

“Don’t worry! With her amazing tracking skills, Hayami will sure help you find the pathway going to the ‘River of Selenia’.” Mr. Harry said as Kenji suspiciously looked at Hayami.

“W-Why are you looking at me like that? That’s Master’s orders. We can’t do anything about it.” Hayami said as she blushed and threw the wiping cloth onto Kenji’s face.

“Uh? I didn’t say that you cannot come with me unless you’re afraid.” Kenji said as he teased Hayami.

“Afraid? No way. I’m not afraid to fight those ‘Red Assassins’. I’ve heard rumors that Ms. Carla is back in the ‘Village’.” Hayami said as she tells Kenji and Mr. Harry.

“Ah, yes! Ms. Carla, the ‘Red Assassins’ new leader. Mr. Charlie told me that they are also after that illegal, mysterious buyer of ‘Liquid Irons’ in the ‘Floating Black Market’.” Mr. Harry said as he tells Kenji and Hayami.

“The path going to the ‘River of Selenia’ opens once every six months so we must find that buyer.” Kenji said as he continues wiping off the tables.

Back in ‘Fireiya’

In the Akimura’s House…

Theo and Ms. Janice were busy cooking in the kitchen when Rai and ‘Ryo’ went upstairs and brought some firewood.

“Ms. Janice, we’re back. We brought some firewood.” Rai said as she and ‘Ryo’ placed the firewood near the brick oven.

“Thank you, Rai! Now, can you arrange the plates? We’re almost finish in cooking this stew.” Ms. Janice said as she asked Rai.

“Uh? Yes! ‘Ryo’, come and help me – Uh?” Rai said as she gently pushed ‘Ryo’ away.

“Ah, yes! I almost forgot. ‘Ryo’, can you go to our Diner and get some vegetables? Here’s the list of those vegetables and bronze coins that you can use to buy some pastries.” Ms. Janice said as she asked ‘Ryo’

“Uh? Okay. I’ll be back.” ‘Ryo’ said as Ms. Janice gave a folded paper and a small, woven pouch to him and went downstairs.

“Darling, I thought you were going to arrange these plates.” Ms. Janice said as she looked and gave the plates to Rai.

“Ah! Um? I’m sorry. ‘Ryo’s been here for days. I wonder why he didn’t leave and went back to the ‘Main Island.’” Rai said as she carried took the plates away and went to the dining area.

“Wait! He came from the ‘Main Island’? Man, he must be damn rich.” Theo said as he overheard their conversation and looked at Rai.

“Ahem! My son, aren’t you going to say something to Rai?” Ms. Janice said as she stared at Theo.

“You’re asking me to do it now? No! I’m still cooking.” Theo said as he got flustered, making Rai giggled.

“You’re my son! You have to be courageous to tell how you love Ra – Eh?” Ms. Janice said as she shouted out, making Theo flinched.

“Alright! I’ll do it.” Theo said as he carefully lifted up a mysterious casserole and brought it to the dining area.

“Eh? A casserole? I thought letters were supposed to be kept inside an envelope.” Ms. Janice said as she wondered.

“What? I’m not going to confess…yet. Ahem! Back on the task at hand, after I opened this casserole, please grab and take out the first thing you’ve touched inside.” Theo said as he instructed Rai.

“Um? Thing? I wonder what’s inside.” Rai cheerfully said as rolled up her long sleeves.

Theo lifted up the cover and Rai carefully grabbed the mysterious thing out of the casserole.

“I found it. Uh? What is – A half, black mask?” Rai said as she took out the other half of black mask and examined it.

“Yes. Please listen to me. That mask was the same mask that was worn by the mercenaries who kidn*pped me. After Ms. Akari saved me from those mercenaries, Hikaru suddenly appeared and I saw him dropped that from his paper bag.” Theo said as he tells Rai what happened.

“This was the same mask worn by those mercenaries who murdered my parents and kidn*pped you – Wait! You got kidn*pped?!” Rai said as she wondered and asked Theo.

“That’s the second reason why I borrowed your father’s war tank.” Ms. Janice said as she scratched her head.

“Rai, I think you should not trust Hikaru. My instincts tell me that he’s hiding something from you.” Theo said as he tells Rai.

“No way! Hikaru aspires to become an ‘Imperial Hero’ and he would not possibly murder – No! No! I-I still trust him…a little.” Rai said as she blushed and stammered.

“Then, I hope this would help. Remember, you asked me to bring your father’s lunch that day? After I’ve arrived, I saw Liam, Cross, and Sarah hiding behind a tree inside your property. My theory goes like this; those three idiots probably saw the murderers who killed your parents.” Theo said as he tells Rai.

“What?! Liam, Cross and Sarah were also there on that day? But why?” Rai said as she wondered and looked at the mask on her hand.

“I’ve rumors that those three were now living at the ‘Orphans’ Shelter’ few meters away from the ‘Village.’” Theo said as Rai put the half mask back inside the casserole.

“Half mask huh? Um? Where’s the other half?” Ms. Janice said as she noticed and asked Theo.

“I gave the other half to Mr. Sai after he interviewed me on what happened during the kidnapping.” Theo said as he closed the lid.

“Oh? I see. That mask can be used as an evidence in this case. I hope he never misplaced that thing.” Ms. Janice said as she sighed and crossed her arms.

“Don’t worry, Mother. I’m sure Mr. Sai will take care of it.” Theo said as he carried the casserole back to the kitchen.

“Uh? I-I really don’t understand what’s happening but for the meantime, I’ll go to the ‘Shelter’ and try to convince Liam, Cross and Sarah to cooperate with the investigation.” Rai said as she scratched her head.

“Um? Do you smell that? Something’s burning – Oh no! My croquettes!” Theo said he panicked and ran to the make-shift stove.

“Uh? Those three huh? After that incident six months ago, I’m sure they will not be pleased to see me again ­– Eh? Your croquettes got burnt.” Rai said as she ran to the kitchen and stood beside the depressed Theo.

‘Fireiya’s Town Hall

Inside the cell rooms…

Ms. Akari was resting inside the fourth cell room, when the Hashimoto Family, Ms. Georgina and Ms. Mai have arrived to visit her.

“Akari? Akari! Are you alright? Let her out!” Mrs. Yua said as she cried, trying to open the gates but it was useless.

“Mother, please calm down. I’m fine and thank you for visiting me.” Ms. Akari said as she smiled.

“But you’ve been detained for three days. Why would you have locked her up anyway?” Mrs. Yua said as she asked Ms. Mai.

“Ms. Akari is detained for treason. She will remain locked up inside until my husband’s demands are fulfilled.” Mrs. Mai said as she tells Mrs. Yua.

“Demands? Like what - Eh? Akari?” Mrs. Yua said as Ms. Akari ran forward and tugged onto her mother’s dress.

“Don’t worry, Mother. I will be fine. Mikan is here too.” Ms. Akari said as Mikan kneeled down and tried to reach her.

“Please let me big sister out.” Mikan said as she cried and pleaded to Mrs. Mai.

“My little one, I’m sorry but I can’t.” Mrs. Mai sadly said as she tousled Mikan’s hair.

“Damn it! I’m so useless. If Father were just here, I’m sure he can reason with Mr. Sai. Eh? What it is, Ms. Georgina?” Hikaru said as after Ms. Georgina tousled his hair.

“The lunchbox.” Ms. Georgina said as she tells Hikaru.

“Ah, yes! Um? Big sister, Theo asked me to bring this for you.” Hikaru said as he approached the ‘Fireiyan’ who guarding the cell room and gave it to him.

Mr. ‘Fireiyan’ #1 opened the gate and gave it to Ms. Akari; Hikaru was silently observing the guard’s movements and saw him hide the key inside his upper, right coat pocket.

“Eh? Not again? I do appreciate that he voluntary providing my everyday meals but this is too much.” Ms. Akari said as she sighed and sat down on the ground.

“Don’t you even dare, young man. I’m watching you.” Mr. Sai said as he and Mr. Physician #2 arrived at Hallway.

“Welcome back, Dear. Wait – Young Man? Hikaru’s just standing there the whole time.” Mrs. Mai said as she stood up and welcomed her husband.

Hikaru flinched and looked away from him.

“I’m back. And I brought a guest. This annoying physician insisted to see Ms. Akari so I let him in.” Mr. Sai said as he looked at Mr. Physician #2, standing beside him.

“I’m sorry for the late introduction. I’m Mr. Sean, a wandering physician, and I came from the ‘Main Island’. I came in here to check Ms. Akari’s wound.” Mr. Sean A.K.A. Mr. Physician #2 said as he introduced himself to everyone.

“A physician came from the ‘Main Island?  Wait! There’s also a ‘Royal Physician’ serving in the Head Quarters.” Mr. Sai said as he tells Mr. Sean.

“Ah, yes! Mr. Ciyan, the ‘Royal Physician’ is also my little brother.” Mr. Sean shyly said as he scratched his head.

“Um? Who is he?” Mrs. Yua said as she asked Ms. Georgina.

“Madam, he’s the physician who also saved Ms. Akari. After we arrived back at the Estate, he was the one who asked us to bring Ms. Akari to her room and did the procedure to save her.” Ms. Georgina softly said as she whispered to Mrs. Yua.

“Oh? I see. I remember. Ahem! On behalf of the Hashimoto Family, I thank you for saving my eldest daughter.” Mrs. Yua said as Hikaru, Mikan and Ms. Georgina stood up behind her.

“Ah! Your welcome, your highnesses. But, I’m actually here because – Eh?! Ms. Akari!” Mr. Sean said as he saw Ms. Akari suddenly fell on the ground.

“I-I’m okay…Ow-Ouch! My arm.” Ms. Akari said as she endures the pain from her injured arm.

“Your highness, please allow me to get inside and check her wound.” Mr. Sean said as he pleaded to Mr. Sai.

“Alright! Let him in.” Mr. Sai said as he sighed and commanded the guard.

Mr. Fireiyan #1 immediately opened the gate; Mr. Sean ran inside the cell room and check Ms. Akari’s arm.

“Big sister!” Mikan said as she got worried and cried outside the cell room.

Hikaru approached Mikan and hugged her; Mrs. Mai sighed and also hugged Mrs. Yua.

“I’m sorry but I need all of you to leave right now. Visiting hours is over.” Mr. Sai said as he tells Ms. Georgina.

“Wait! This is bad. The remnants of poison were absorbed by her bloodstream and now consuming her life force, developing ‘Ruins’ like this. I cannot do much about this unless…” Mr. Sean said as he carefully binds Ms. Akari’s arm.

“Unless What?” Hikaru said as he asked Mr. Sean.

“Unless we found the same person who forged this dagger and asked him for an antidote. For the meantime, let’s leave and let her rest.” Mr. Sean said as he took off his coat and put it around Ms. Akari’s shoulders.

Mr. Sean went out of the cell and gave the poisoned dagger to Hikaru; The dagger was covered with a white cloth.

“Then, I’ll ask my best friend about this. She once worked as a ‘Red Blacksmith’s assistant so she’ll probably know something about daggers.” Hikaru said as he took the dagger and then ran away.

“Hikaru? Where are you going? Come back!” Ms. Yua said as she tried to stop Hikaru.

“Madam, let’s leave.” Ms. Georgina said as tells Ms. Yua.

“I’ll walk them outside. Mikan, let’s go.” Mrs. Yua said as she grabbed Mikan’s right hand and walked away.

Mrs. Yua left the hallway, followed by Ms. Yua, Mikan and Ms. Georgina.

“Damn it! I forgot to tell her.” Mr. Sai said as he shouted out.

“Uh? Are you alright, your highness?” Mr. Sean said as he asked Mr. Sai.

“I forgot to tell my wife that I’ve lost that half mask Theo gave me. Wait! Did I really lost it? or Did I misplace it? But I’m pretty sure I hid it back inside my office and now it is gone. Ah! What should I do?” Mr. Sai said as he panicked and shouted out along the hallway.

“Uh? Your highness, please calm down.” Mr. Sean said as he sighed.

Outside the ‘Town Hall’…

A carriage was waiting for the Hashimoto Family outside the town hall; Mikan looked up and saw Mrs. Yua smirking.

“My stupid husband’s probably panicking right now. After I found that half mask, I threw it away. Damn mercenaries! If my husband were to found out that I was the one who authorized and let those mercenaries in the ‘Village’, he’ll snap out – Uh? My little one, what is it?” Mrs. Yua said as she asked Mikan.

“Nothing. You can let go of my hand now.” Mikan said as Mrs. Yua let her ran away back to her mother.

Ms. Georgina carefully lifted Mikan up in the carriage and after few minutes the carriage left.

20 minutes later

Back in the Akimura’s House…

Theo was sweeping the floor while Ms. Janice was dusting off the furniture.

“Rai! I’m back. Uh? Where is she?” Hikaru said he ran upstairs and shouted out in the living area.

“Rai and ‘Ryo’ left an hour ago.” Theo said as he ignored Hikaru and continued sweeping the floor.

“Left? Where are they going anyway?’ Hikaru said as he asked Theo.

“They went to visit Rai’s old friends back in the ‘Orphans’ Shelter’.” Theo said as he looked at Hikaru.

“Hey, Theo. Last night, I heard someone shouting in Rai’s room so I took a peek inside and saw her and ‘Ryo’ fell asleep on the floor together. Something’s fishy. Oh, Hi! Hikaru. I didn’t notice you.” Ms. Janice said as she turned around and saw Hikaru standing behind her.

“Hi! Ms. Janice and thank you for that information Theo. I’ll be back.” Hikaru said as he ran downstairs and left the Akimura’s House.

“Uh? Did I say something wrong?” Ms. Janice said as she wondered.

“No, Mother. Did you do that on purpose?” Theo said as he asked his mother.

“No, I swear I didn’t know that he was here - that was not convincing at all.” Ms. Janice said as she laughed in front of Theo.

Outside ‘Fireiya’

Along the streets…

Rai and ‘Ryo’ were walking along the streets; ‘Ryo’ was reading the map Rai gave to him.

“Uh? I can’t even understand this. Is this really a map?” ‘Ryo’ said as he flipped the paper.

“See? You can’t help me either. You should go back to the house and stay with Ms. Janice.

“No. She personally asked me to tag along since she knew that you’ll get lost trying to find the ‘Orphans’ Shelter’ on your own.” ‘Ryo’ said as he tells Rai who flinched.

“I knew it! Go back and leave me alone. I can do this on my own.” Rai said as she blushed.

“No. You absolutely can’t. Admit it, you gave and asked me to read this map because we’re getting lost.” ‘Ryo’ said as Rai got flustered and walked away.

“Yes! We’re lost. There I said it. Now, which way is it?” Rai said as she shouted back and asked ‘Ryo’.

Rai looked around and saw Mr. Terry, standing out in the open and waved back; Rai ran away and approached him.

“Based on this map, Uh? I think we have to walk right here and – Hey! Wait, that’s the wrong way.” ‘Ryo’ said as he ran away, chasing Rai.

Few minutes later…

“Hello! Uh? You are Mr. Larry, right?” Rai said as she arrived and asked Mr. Terry.

“No. You’re mistaken, I’m Mr. Terry. It is nice to see you again, your highness.” Mr. Terry said as Rai got flustered.

“"I’m really sorry, Mr. Terry. Just like writing my story, I can’t even remember your names in real life. This is embarrassing.” Rai said as she blushed and apologized to Mr. Terry.

“Ah! About your story, you have a misspelled word in Chapter 14 and you forgot to edit Chapters 1-4.” ‘Ryo’ said as he arrived behind Rai and tousled her hair.

“Shut up! I knew that but I got tired from editing and reading Mr. Sai’s initial report about my parents’ m******e. I eventually fell asleep on my desk last night.” Rai said as she flustered and pinched ‘Ryo’s cheeks.

“It seems you’re getting along, your highnesses. Anyway, I’m here to deliver these letters to you. These came from the other three ‘Living Fiends’.” Mr. Terry said as he took his leather hat off and grab the three envelopes.

Then, Mr. Terry gave the three envelopes to Rai.

“Oh? These are for me, thank you. ‘From: Princess Charlotte.’ Huh? Interesting.” Rai said as she read and examined one of the three letters.

“Then, I must leave and regroup with the others.” Mr. Terry said as he wore his leather hat back.

Mr. Terry knocked on the wall and few minutes later, a magical portal opened; he, then, waved back at Rai and walked inside the portal.

“Uh! Wait! I forgot to ask you something – Eh?” Rai said as she ran away and went inside the portal.

“Hey – Rai! Come back.” ‘Ryo’ said as he ran away, chasing Rai and also went inside the portal.

The magical portal closed afterwards and nobody knows where Rai and ‘Ryo’ mysteriously went.

In the ‘Orphans’ Shelter

Inside their backyard…

Liam was sweeping the backyard, Cross was fixing the broken hose and Sarah was tending their vegetable garden when Rai and ’Ryo’ magically sprang out of the shelter’s wooden wall and fell onto the backyard, beside the vegetable garden.

“Ow-Ouch. My back. Are you alright?” ‘Ryo’ said as he landed on the ground and asked Rai.

“Ow-Ouch. Yes, thank you for catching me.” Rai said as she stood up and dusted off her clothes.

“No problem. Now, where are we – Eh?” ‘Ryo’ said as he sat on the ground.

Rai reached out her right hand to help ‘Ryo’ get up.

“Here, let me help you.” Rai cheerfully said as ‘Ryo’ smiled and grabbed her hand.

“Now, where are we?” ‘Ryo’ said as he stood up and wondered.

“I think heard it over here – Eh? You!” Liam said as he, Cross and Sarah went back to the vegetable garden and saw Rai and ‘Ryo’.

“Hello! It is nice to see all of you, again.” Rai said as she looked at Liam and the others.

“Hello. Yes. It’s been a while. It seems that your right arm’s all healed.” Liam said as Rai raised her right arm.

“Yes. That incident left a huge scar on my right hand but this scar does not make less of what am I right now.” Rai proudly said as she waved back at Liam.

“Shut up! Anyway, what are you doing in here?” Cross said as he asked Rai.

“I’m here to humbly ask for your cooperation. Please tell me what exactly happened before my parents died on that day. Theo told me that all of you were back in the house that day and probably saw what happened.” Rai said as she grovels on the ground.

“As if we’re going to cooperate with you!” Sarah said as she got angry and kicked Rai onto her abdomen.

“That damn brat! He probably also told Mr. Sai what happened.” Cross said as he sighed.

“Mr. Sai came in here this morning, interrogating us about what happened but we refused to cooperate with his investigation.” Liam boastfully said as he and Cross were watching Sarah on the sidelines.

“No! We’re not going to help you. After that incident, we got kicked out of the ‘Academy’. Our parents abandoned us, left us in this shabby shelter and worst, we got banished out from the ‘Village’. Consider this as your punishment!” Sarah said as she got mad and continued kicking Rai.

Then, Sarah grabbed the bucket of water and splashed it onto Rai.

“Ah! I cannot stand watching this anymore!” ‘Ryo’ said as he shouted out loud and transformed both of his hands back into his two ‘Dragon Claws.’

With one swift move, ‘Ryo’ ran away and seized Liam and Cross; he, then, gently lifted them up in the air.

“You know what, we, the ‘Seven Mythical Beasts’, swore not to hurt any ‘Alementalians’ as our part in the ‘Accord’ so don’t tempt me to try. Now, please cooperate young lady.” ‘Ryo’ seriously said as he got angry and looked at Sarah.

Sarah trembled in fear and fell on the ground, beside Rai.

“Then, please answer my question instead. How many mercenaries did you saw arrived around the house back then?” Rai said as she asked Sarah.

“T-Ten. We saw ten mercenaries spying in your house on that day. Now, let them go.” Sarah said as her response.

“Ten? But? Wait - based on Mr. Sai’s report, there are three other unnamed bodies excluding my mother’s that were found in our backyard.” Rai said as she stood up and tied up her hair.

“Then, there were 13 mercenaries who murdered your parents that day. That’s it. Everyone, thank you for your cooperation.” ‘Ryo’ said as he intentionally dropped Liam and Cross on the ground.

“Damn it! Let’s get out of here.” Liam said as he and Cross stood up and ran away from ‘Ryo’.

“Wait! You’re not going anywhere. Mr. Terry! Are you still there?” ‘Ryo’ said as he called out Mr. Terry.

The same magical portal appeared on the ground below ‘Ryo’, Liam and Cross; One skeletonized arm magically sprang out of the ground and grabbed Liam’s right leg.

“Get away from me! Get off!” Liam said as he trembled in fear, trying to kick away the skeletonized arm.

“Take him away.” Rai said as she commanded Mr. Terry.

With one swift move, the skeletonized arm seized and dragged Liam down on the ground; Liam instantly disappeared without a trace.

“Liam! Hey! Where did you take him?” Cross said as he trembled in fear and asked Rai.

Rai ignored him and dusted off her clothes; She, then, looked above in the sky and saw a black hawk watching them on the shelter’s roof.

“Damn you! Sarah, let’s get out of here. Wait until I tell Mr. Sai what you did to Liam.” Cross proudly said as he ran towards Sarah and dragged her away,

“So, you are going to let them escape?” ‘Ryo’ said as he approached and asked Rai.

“Of course not. Take that guy away.” Rai said as she commanded the black hawk, flying above the ‘Shelter’.

The black hawk descended; with one swift move and using its sharp talons, it seized Cross away from Sarah. Then, it carried Cross and flew away.

“Cross! Eh? Get away from me. I said get away from me!” Sarah said as she stepped back away from Rai.

“And for you, my dear witness. Look behind you.” Rai cheerfully said as Sarah actually looked behind her.

Standing behind her was Vanny who reached out her skeletonized, right arm and pat Sarah’s head.

“Can you play… with me?” Vanny said as she slightly tilted her head to the left and asked Sarah.

“Take her away from my sight.” Rai said as she smirked and commanded Vanny.

Vanny smirked; With one swift move, Vanny seized Sarah away and jumped back in the portal. The portal disappeared and Sarah was nowhere to be seen.

“Now, the three witnesses suddenly disappeared without a trace. Hm? Are you alright, Rai?” ‘Ryo’ said as he wondered and asked Rai.

“Ah, yes! I’m fine. It’s just that after six months, they finally disappeared just like what I wished before I – I wonder what is this feeling.” Rai said as she looked at her hands and wondered.

“Now, you need to calm down and help me harvest these cabbages.” ‘Ryo’ said as he pats Rai’s left shoulder and walked away.

“Uh? Okay. My hands stopped trembling. Thank you.” Rai cheerfully said making ‘Ryo’ blushed.

Back in the ‘Main Island’

Along the ‘Central District’…

The Yoshiyuki Siblings, Ms. Lilia and Eito were wandering along the streets of the ‘Central District’.

“Uh? This is so uncomfortable and embarrassing, big sister. Everyone’s looking at us.” Eito said as he sighed and looked at his big sister.

“Really? I bet you wished that Ms. Rai was walking beside you instead of me.” Mr. Lilia said as she giggled and closed her woven fan.

“Um? We – Ahem! Ms. Rai and I actually went in here before.” Eito proudly said as he blushed.

“Eh?! Finally, you had the courage to ask her on a date. Not bad, little brother.” Ms. Lilia said as she shoved the fan onto Eito’s cheeks.

“She just asked for directions and I accompanied her back in here and that’s not a date. Get that thing away from me.” Eito said as Ms. Lilia pulled back her fan and giggled.

“Uh? I wonder what they are looking at.” Ms. Lilia said as she and Eito approached the crowd looking at an announcement poster.

“Let’s go and check it out.” Eito said as he and Ms. Lilia went closer to the crowd.

“Um? I cannot see a thing. Can you read what’s in the poster for me, little brother?” Ms. Lilia said as she asked Eito.

“Alright! Since I’m taller than you, I’ll read what’s written in the poster for you.” Eito said as he teased his big sister.

“You don’t have to emphasize on the word taller. Hurry! Just read it.” Ms. Lilia said as she got annoyed to Eito.

“Alright! Calm down. Okay. The announcement poster says: ‘Wanted; Mercenaries named ‘No.12’ and ‘No.13’ who has seen wearing this black mask. Reward: 12 million gold coins for each mercenary. That’s it.” Eito said as he read the poster.

“Look! There’s a black, masquerade mask pinned below the poster.” Mr. Bystander #1 said as the other ‘Alementalians’ looked at the black mask.

 “Eh? Mr. Charlie’s right after all. I didn’t expect that Hiiro will even show the mask and put that huge amount of reward in his list. What?” Ms. Lilia said as she wondered and asked Eito.

“Nothing. Mercenaries huh? And those are weird aliases. Anyway, I’m starving, let’s leave.” Eito said as he stretched out his arms and walked away.

“Hey! Eito, please wait for me.” Ms. Lilia said as she walked away, chasing Eito.

In the town of ‘Ryoshizaki’

On the 2nd floor of the Fruits’ Shop

Outside Shouta’s Apartment…

Aoi arrived and knocked on the door; She was carrying three small, eco bags filled with her groceries.

“It is me, Aoi.” Aoi said as she was waiting for a response outside the apartment.

“Thank you for waiting. Please come in.” Maki said as he opened the door and welcomed Ms. Aoi.

“Mr. Maki? I thought that this is his highness’ apartment.” Ms. Aoi said as she went inside the apartment.

“Uh? This is our shared apartment. Please allow me to help you carry those bags.” Maki said as Ms. Aoi blushed and gave the three bags to Maki.

Maki and Ms. Aoi went inside the living area.

Inside the living area…

“Eh? Everything’s so neat and clean. Since, I’m three months pregnant I wish you would come and help me clean our apartment next time.” Ms. Aoi said as she sat down on the center sofa.

“Sure. I would like to help you – Wait! What?! Eh?!” Maki exclaimed as he got flustered, making Ms. Aoi giggled.

“Yes. You heard that loud and clear.” Ms. Aoi said as she giggled.

“Congratulations! I’m happy for you and Naoki. I-I must prepare something special. Please wait in here. I’ll be back.” Maki said as he put the eco bags on the floor and ran to the kitchen.

“Uh? Prepare special what?” Shouta said as he arrived and went inside the living area.

“Y-Your highness?! Welcome back.” Ms. Aoi said as she stood up and greeted Shouta.

“I’m no longer an ‘Imperial Prince’ so please call me Shouta instead.” Shouta said as he scratched his head.

“Uh? Okay. So, you also went to the supermarket as well.” Ms. Aoi said as she noticed Shouta carrying four eco bags filled with his groceries.

“Ah, yes! I did and I am never going back! Humans are really scary during uh? What do they call it? A Weekend Sa-e-le? Sa-le? Sa-ale? Sale. That’s it, Sale!” Shouta said as he put the groceries down on the floor and sat beside Ms. Aoi.

“Humans seems to be attracted to this kind of marketing strategy. I mean who would not love a 70% discount on these basic necessities. I’ll take that as a note.” Maki said as he arrived back at the living area, carrying a silver tray.

“Uh? About my letter, I really do need your help, your highness – I mean Mr. Shouta.” Ms. Aoi softly said as Shouta looked at her.

“Alright! I’ll help you. If that stupid guy started abusing you again, I swear I’ll beat the s**t out of him.” Shouta said as he clenched his right hand.

“Calm down your highness and would you like join us, Mr. Naoki?” Maki said as he and the others looked outside the balcony.

Naoki arrived and was standing on the top of the railings surrounding the balcony.
